Amir Khan bids adieu to professional Boxing at 35

LONDON: Two times World Pro Boxing Champion Amir Khan has decided to bid farewell to professional Boxing on Friday.

Amir, who won an Olympic silver medal before turning professional, has now brought down the curtains on his prolonged 27 years long career.

The former unified welterweight world champion Amir took to his Twitter and announced his retirement.

“It’s time to hang up my gloves. I feel blessed to have had such an amazing career that has spanned over 27 years,” he wrote.

“I want to say a heartfelt thanks and to the incredible teams I have worked with and to my family, friends and fans for the love and support they have shown me,” he added.

It is apropos to mention here that Amir last stepped into the ring against Kell Brook in February this year to settle their vicious rivalry that had raged for over a decade. Khan, however, suffered a crushing defeat by the hands of Brook, who also hung his boots from professional boxing last week.
