India, New Zealand to fight for first-ever ICC WTC Final

The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand will be the first of its kind in the game of cricket.
This effort by world’s governing body was to make Test cricket more interesting and relevant where teams played at home and away conditions.
Talking about the teams, both have been the best Test sides for quite some time and deserve their place in the final. The accolades are towards New Zealand but India can put great effort after what we saw their courage during the Australia tour.

The kiwis are coming into this game with advantage as they played two-Test match series against England prior to the final while India arrived two weeks back with little practice and straight out of quarantine.

How Teams Reached Here

Virat Kohli-led India qualified for ‘The Ultimate Test’ after finishing first on the standings but their spot in the decider was not secured until their very last match against England.
India were on their merry way to reach the final in terms of points earned but after the change in method due to the COVID-19 pandemic, India had their work cut out. The percentage of points secured was brought after the world went to a standstill.
India started their campaign with straight series wins against West Indies, South Africa and Bangladesh. They were dealt with hard time in New Zealand where they suffered a 2-0 defeat.

They traveled to Australia and were bundled out for a shameful 36 in the second innings of the Adelaide Test and lost the match by eight wickets but they restored their hopes by winning second and fourth Test, claiming back to back series win in Australia.
The misery continued after they tasted defeat in the opening Test against England but they were able to trap England in final three Tests with spin and took the series 3-1, securing top spot on the WTC standings.
New Zealand may call as luckiest to reach here after they didn’t play one away series due to pandemic but their performance at home, helped them to reach here.
They levelled the series in Sri Lanka 1-1 and lost to Australia 3-0. They bagged series wins against India, West Indies and Pakistan to lift themselves to second spot.

Key Battles

These type of encounters provide key battles up for the grabs and individual match-ups can potentially make the difference.
Virat Kohli vs Kane Williamson
The top two giants of world cricket will be leading their sides respectively and can play a pivotal role in their teams. The match will be a testimony of their class as they are called as ‘batters of this generation’ and being among the top five in current batsmen rankings, the fans will be at the edge of their seat while watching these lads.

Ajinkya Rahane vs Tim Southee
Kohli’s deputy Ajinkya Rahane has been India’s highest run-scorer and Tim Southee is New Zealand’s greatest wicket-taker. They have played vital roles for their teams in the road there and will have plenty to offer. Southee has taken 51 wickets at 20.66 in the WTC, with three five-wicket hauls along the way, while Rahane has scored 1095 runs at 43.80 this WTC cycle, notching three centuries and six half-centuries across 17 matches.
Rohit Sharma vs Neil Wagner
Rohit Sharma bats at the top, while Neil Wagner comes to ball as replacement of first two bowlers but still the battle between them, will be one to watch out for. Rohit is a master of pull shot while Wagner’s main weapon is a short ball.
Tom Latham vs Jasprit Bumrah
This battle at the top between these two rising stars will be a thrilling one for the cricketing world. Jasprit Bumrah is yet to dismiss Tom Latham in Test but his action becomes lethal when he comes round the wicket to the lefties and it might trouble Latham for an LBW dismissal.
Ross Taylor vs Ishant Sharma
The veterans of their respective sides with 100 Test matches at their back, Ross Taylor (107) and Ishant Sharma (101) will be eager to step up. Ishant has the better of Taylor as he has dismissed him four times and also holds a good record in England.

Pitch and weather conditions

The Rose Bowl has hosted six Test matches since 2011, providing help to both pacers and spinner. According to head groundsman Simon Lee, the pitch might have ‘pace, bounce and carry’ but the weather can make the difference as the forecast doesn’t look ideal.
There is a forecast of rain throughout five days and ICC has added a sixth day to compensate for it too.

Teams

India has announced their playing XI while New Zealand will name at the time of toss.
India
Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma

New Zealand (possible XI)
Tom Latham, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (wk), Colin de Grandhomme, Tim Southee, Ajaz Patel/Kyle Jamieson,  Neil Wagner, Trent Boult.

Prize Money

The winner will receive the ICC Test Championship Mace, which has been traditionally held by the No.1 Test team and prize money of $1.6 million while runner-up will collect $800,000. In the result of a draw, the prize money for first and second will be split between the two sides and the Mace shared.

Must-win game for Karachi Kings as they face rivals Lahore Qalandars

Things are getting tight for defending champions Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six as they face rivals Lahore Qalandars tonight in the 27th fixture.
The result of the match could potentially decide the future of Imad Wasim’s led Karachi Kings after they have lost the last three games and are at the fifth spot on points.
At the start of the Abu Dhabi leg, Kings were at the top of the points table and were coming as favorites but their hopes have been dented. Kings have to win tonight’s clash and also the next to keep their hopes alive of defending the title.

Kings are coming into this match on the back of two deflating defeats, Against Peshawar Zalmi, they were outclassed in all departments. They managed to score just 109 runs, which was chased down with significant ease.
The form of Babar Azam will also count for Kings as he has been leading the chart as the highest run-getter. He would like to get support from hard-hitter Sharjeel Khan, Martin Guptill, Najibullah Zadran, Imad Wasim.
The bowling department led by Mohammad Amir can regain form after Lahore Qalandars’ miserable performances in the last two matches.
On the other hand, Qalandars were looking all set to finish at the top of the table but back-to-back defeats have haunted their ambitions.
They have played eight matches thus far and with five wins, they have ten points coupled with a net run-rate of -0.183.
Their recent dip in the form can be attributed to some poor and reckless performances with the bat. They have now lost the momentum and might not be having as much confidence as they had when the second leg began.
Meanwhile, Qalandars would take positives after they beat Kings in the first leg by six wickets. The high-octane clash starts at 11.00 pm at Sheikh Zayed International Stadium, Karachi.
Karachi Kings predicted line-up
Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Martin Guptill, Chadwick Walton, Najibullah Zadran, Imad Wasim, Aamer Yamin, Abbas Afridi, Waqas Maqsood, Mohammad Amir, Noor Ahmad

Zalmi eye top spot on PSL 6’s points table against United

Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six is inching towards the final stage as teams are set to play their final round-robin games.
The top two sides Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi will take on each other in the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader. The clash can have a big role to play in the final standings at the table.
United have so far been the best team in the tournament and their position on the points table is the reflection of that. In eight matches, they have won six and lost two. With 12 points and a net run-rate of 0.932, they have qualified for the playoffs.

Shadab Khan-led side will look to finish in the top two and if they are able to do so, they would have two opportunities to make a place in tournament’s final.
United are coming in this game with three wins on the trot. They were clinical in their last outing as they thrashed Karachi Kings by eight wickets with eight balls to spare. Chasing a total of a tall order, of 191, Islamabad United went along their way with remarkable ease.
With the batting creating maximum impact, United bowlers will be eager to complement their batters.
On the other hand, Zalmi is having a roller coaster ride in the tournament However, with a couple of sensational wins, they have climbed to the second spot and win in the final match, they will definitely boost their chances of finishing in the top two.

Karachi Kings to face Peshawar Zalmi in ‘must-win’ encounter

Defending champions Karachi Kings and 2017 title champions Peshawar Zalmi will take on each other in the 24th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six later today.
The tournament is becoming interesting after Karachi Kings, unfortunately, lost the last two games while Multan Sultans bagged two consecutive wins. Peshawar Zalmi also looks to pose a fight back and this makes the fight for the third and fourth qualification place quite interesting indeed.
Karachi Kings posted a massive total of 190 but still could not win the match. Their bowling has struggled in Abu Dhabi will their fielding has been unsatisfying too.

Read: Munro, Iftikhar help Islamabad United beat Karachi Kings by eight wickets

The strength lies in their batting and the form of Babar Azam as he just keeps on scoring runs, no matter what the situation or who the opponent is. He is now the highest run-getter of the ongoing season.
Meanwhile, Martin Guptill is struggling in the slow conditions and although Najibullah played very well, the Kings expect the same in today’s match.
The lack of form of Mohammad Amir is starting to hurt the Karachi Kings. Imad Wasim has also out of the groove. Waqas Maqsood bowled well and Arshad Iqbal showed promise but both of them end up giving away too many loose deliveries.
Kings need a strong fightback especially from bowlers and having experienced campaigners, the comeback is definitely on the cards.
On the other hand, Zalmi has been struggling in their batting department from the start of second-leg. Shoaib Malik has been getting out early in the last two games, Kamran Akmal is not able to convert his starts and Haider Ali has struggled to play freely as well.
After the departure of David Miller, the department has suffered a major setback. They can took out positive from Sherfane Rutherford, who played a brilliant knock against Sultans on Sunday.
The bowling has been quite good even though they failed to pick up important wickets in the previous match. Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Imran, and Umaid Asif form yet another excellent bowling lineup. It really is amazing the quality of fast-bowling in Pakistan, as cliched as it may be to say it.
We have not seen Peshawar Zalmi play to its potential so far and whether that will change in this match is the big question.

Quetta Gladiators seek redemption vs Lahore Qalandars for poor PSL 6 run

Season six of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is heading at the back-end. The result of every match will be crucial for the team going into the playoffs round.
The competition will witness a double-header today where Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars lock horns at 6.00 pm today.
Quetta Gladiators, 2019 PSL winners are struggling to find a win in the second leg and are at the bottom of the table with two points in seven matches. It’s quite difficult for them to qualify for the next round, however, they can still hurt the chances of other teams that are still in with a chance.

Read: Islamabad United registers emphatic 28-run win over Lahore Qalandars

They may be without their key players due to concussions. Andre Russell was ruled out while Faf du Plessis had a similar kind of blow while fielding and is still unwell.
Without their key stalwarts, they are certainly a lot less side than they were during the start of the second leg. Besides, they are coming off two humiliating losses in their last two matches and will certainly not be high on confidence. They would need some individual brilliance to take them home and unless that happens, they are likely to come second-best in the upcoming match.
On the other hand, Lahore Qalandars are eyeing a comeback after a horrible loss to Islamabad United on Sunday.
They were having a fantatsic run in the tournament until their last match. Even the last game was in their pocket before they allowed Islamabad United to claw back and eventually post a victory.

Qalandars moved to the second position from the top and they will now be desperate to claim back that top of the table position. Their net run rate isn’t something to be proud of and that is another reason why the Qalandars will want to gather as many points as possible.
They have one of the most lethal bowling units amongst all teams in the tournament. The likes of Rashid Khan, James Faulkner, and Shaheen Shah Afridi can be a deadly combination for any team to bat against.
Apart from that, the Qalandars have a decent batting unit that has an excellent amalgamation of swashbuckling batsmen and experience.
They gave away two points to United but the loss might well act as a wake-up call for them. If they continue to perform the way they were doing prior to their last match, the clash against Gladiators would be easy task.
Predicted XIs:
Quetta Gladiators: Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Cameron Delport, Jake Weatherald, Azam Khan, Sarfaraz Ahmed (C & WK), Mohammad Nawaz, Jake Wildermuth, Mohammad Hasnain, Zahid Mahmood, Zahir Khan
Lahore Qalandars: Sohail Akhtar, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Muhammad Faizan, Tim David, Ben Dunk, Rashid Khan, James Faulkner, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal

Quetta Gladiators to face Islamabad United tonight

2019 PSL champions Quetta Gladiators will face two-time winners Islamabad United tonight in the 18th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s sixth edition at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Islamabad United have won three of their five games, and they would want to bounce back after their last defeat. Quetta Gladiators have just won one of their five games and now every match is a must-win for them inorder to stay in contention for play-offs qualification.
United lost to Lahore Qalandars on June 9 in a last-over thriller and also receive a blow after it was confirmed that Faheem Ashraf may miss upcoming matches due to hand injury.

Meanwhile, Gladiators are hoping to turn around their fortunes and would expect their senior pros to step up.

Quetta Gladiators – Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Jake Weatherald, Faf du Plessis, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Azam Khan, Andre Russell, Mohammad Nawaz, Zahir Khan, Zahid Mehmood, Mohammad Hasnain.

Lahore Qalandars aim to continue winning run against Peshawar Zalmi

Peshawar Zalmi will take on table-toppers Lahore Qalandars in the 17th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, the second encounter of today’s doubleheader at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Peshawar Zalmi have won three of their five games and would want to go top of the table. Kamran Akmal will again lead the batting with Imam-ul-Haq while Shoaib Malik and Haider Ali would take the charge of middle-order.
David Miller’s arrival has been a huge boost for Zalmi but he is available for a couple of game, whereas Fabian Allen is also a valuable addition. Fidel Edwards and Wahab Riaz will lead the bowling of the side with emerging star Mohammad Imran Jr aim to continue his good bowling form.
Lahore Qalandars have won four of their five games in the competition and are at the top of the table. Qalandars’ bowling attack looked lethal having the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Rashid Khan, James Faulkner and Ahmed Daniyal while they will seek more stability in the batting order.

Players to watch out for:

Kamran Akmal will be key for Zalmi at the top of the order as he brings a lot of experience. He is the second-highest all-time run-scorer of the PSL (1606) with three centuries to his name.
For Qalandars, ‘Professor’ Mohammad Hafeez will hold the key after receiving few hiccups in the middle-order last night. The veteran has been in impeccable form over the past year or so and once again will look to assert his authority.
Zalmi will highly depend on Wahab Riaz in the bowling department. After the departure of Saqib Mehmood, Wahab aka Vicky looks like a lone warrior. He has eight wickets to his name in four matches.
Qalandars have exceptional bowling talent in their ranks but Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has been the standout. He gave only nine runs in his four-over spell yesterday.

Predicted XIs

Peshawar Zalmi – Kamran Akmal, Imam ul Haq, Haider Ali, David Miller, Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford, Fabian Allen, Wahab Riaz, Fidel Edwards, Mohammad Imran, Mohammad Irfan.
Lahore Qalandars – Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Mohammad Faizan, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk, Tim David, James Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Ahmed Daniyal.

Karachi Kings to resume PSL 6 campaign against Multan Sultans

Defending champions Karachi Kings will restart their Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six campaign against Multan Sultans today at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The contest will be the first match of a double-header on Thursday, scheduled to start at 6.00 pm (PST).
Karachi Kings started the title defence successfully in Karachi. They played five matches and won three of them. They are second on the points table with run-rate of 0.697.

Read:  Babar Azam leads Karachi Kings to second win in PSL 6

In their last match of PSL 2021, before the T20 league was halted, Karachi Kings hammered Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets. Set to chase 189, they were guided home by Babar Azam, who scored an unbeaten 77 off 47 balls.
On the other hand, Multan Sultans had a poor run. They won only one out of their five matches and are struggling at the fifth position in the points table.
They lost their last two matches in the competition to Karachi Kings (seven wickets) and Quetta Gladiators (22 runs). Skipper Mohammad Rizwan scored an impressive half-century against the Gladiators, but could not find any support from the rest of the batting order.

Players to watch out for:

Pakistan’s opening pair of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam will come head to head today. Both of them have been at their prime form in the T20s.
Rizwan has been exceptional for Pakistan and he has performed brilliantly for the Sultans as well. In fact, in the PSL 2021, he is the leading run-scorer with 297 runs from five games at an average and strike-rate of 59.40 and 140.09 respectively.
Meanwhile, Babar is the second-highest run-getter with 258 runs at a strike rate of 138.7.
Among bowlers, Kings will rely on Mohammad Amir, who has the potential to rip through the best of batting line-ups. He has picked up four wickets from five games and has been economical.
Sultans’ emerging star, Shahnawaz Dahani will be key for the energy he brings into the game. He has nine wickets in four matches to his name but needs support from his fellow bowlers.

Predicted XIs:

Multan Sultans: Mohammad Rizwan, Johnson Charles, Shimron Hetmyer, Rilee Rossouw, Sohaib Maqsood, Khushdil Shah, Sohail Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Shahnawaz Dhani, Usman Qadir, Imran Tahir
Karachi Kings: Sharjeel Khan, Babar Azam, Martin Guptill, Chadwick Walton, Danish Aziz, Thisara Perera, Imad Wasim, Qasim Akram, Mohammad Amir, Arshad Iqbal, Waqas Maqsood

The wait is over – PSL 6 resumes today in Abu Dhabi

After a demoralizing postponement due to COVID-19 in March, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season is back from today at the Sheikh Zayed International Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Fourteen matches were played at the National Stadium in Karachi. The four top teams have all won three matches each while Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators have bagged one. The onus is now going to be on adapting quickly to the conditions.
Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will go head to head at 9.00 PM. Islamabad are at the third position while Lahore are a position lower at fourth due to a slight different in the net run rate. The winner will go at the top with four wins and eight points.

Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars will look to bank on their promising bowling line-up. Shaheen Afridi, Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf, Dilbar Hussain, and Ahmed Daniyal are going to be the strike bowlers while Mohammad Hafeez, Seekuge Prasanna, James Faulkner supporting the above-mentioned.
Qalandars batting were also on the show during Karachi leg. The highest run-getters for them are Hafeez and Fakhar Zaman with more than 180 runs each.
Australia’s duo of Ben Dunk and Calum Callum Ferguson will bring their heavy T20 experience while Singapore’s Tim David will look to replicate his BBL’s performance lower down the order.

Islamabad United

Islamabad United played impressively in Karachi but they have been hit by the absence of their overseas players. Alex Hales and Phil Salt are not a part of the squad and they have replaced by Usman Khawaja and Colin Munro, the likely openers.
United will heavily rely on local stars to do well. The roti-gang of Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Asif Ali will look to take United’s hopes while Iftikhar Ahmed, Hussain Talat and Zafar Gohar would once again claim their stake.
The bowling attack for Islamabad United is unchanged and so this can be seen as an area of strength. Hasan Ali is in the middle of a fantastic period of his career and is the bowler to watch out for. With Fawad Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim, Muhammad Musa also in the squad, Islamabad United has a lot of options to work with.

Conditions

The conditions in Abu Dhabi are going to be very hot and temperatures can hit 40 degrees celsius as well. With start times later in the evening, it is hoped that the players are going to be able to adapt to the tough conditions.
The pitch must be flat and good for batting. The outfield is of a decent size and so the spinners play a big role. A score of around 170 should be seen as par batting first.

Likely XIs

Islamabad United: Colin Munro, Usman Khawaja, Shadab Khan (C), Hussain Talat, Rohail Nazir (wk), Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Zafar Gohar, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Fawad Ahmed
Lahore Qalandars:
Sohail Akhtar (C), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Callum Ferguson, Ben Dunk (WK), Tim David, Shaheen Afridi, Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf, Dilbar Hussain, Ahmed Daniyal

England to take on New Zealand at Lord’s tomorrow

England to start home summer against New Zealand in the first Test of a two-match series starting from tomorrow, June 2, at the Lord’s Stadium in London.
England will take field without Test regulars and multi-format players like Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow while New Zealand has the perfect opportunity to gain preparation for the WTC Final later this month.
Their aim will be to make the most of these two games to acclimatize to the conditions and get their team combination right.
Meanwhile, the cricketing world will see the new talent of English County season with Ollie Robinson and James Bracey receiving call-ups.
Young Haseeb Hameed, who made his Test debut against India in 2016, has also been called up. Sam Billings could also make his Test debut after replacing the injured Ben Foakes.

Pitch and Weather conditions

Lord’s have not hosted any international game for more than 20 months. The wicket at Lord’s is a balanced one with something in it both for batters and bowlers. The seamers should get some assistance off the wicket throughout the match, while the spinners could have an impact on Days 4 and 5. There is a huge chance of rain damaging the game due to showers forecast on Days 3, 4 and 5.

Predicted XIs

England: Dominic Sibley, Rory Burns, James Bracey(WK), Joe Root(C), Ollie Pope, Daniel Lawrence, Ollie Robinson, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Jack Leach, and Olly Stone.
New Zealand: Tom Blundell, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson(C), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling(WK), Darryl Mitchell, Kyle Jamieson, Ajaz Patel, Tim Southee, and Neil Wagner.

A responsible overview of casino magic online argentina should keep expectations realistic and highlight policy clarity. Focus on withdrawals, limits, and KYC requirements first, then assess mobile performance and provider lineup. Promotions can be optional; wagering and expiry terms matter more than headlines. 18+ only; set strict limits.
