David stars as UAE Bulls crush Aspin Stallions to lift Abu Dhabi T10 title

ABU DHABI: Tim David’s imperious 98* off just 30 deliveries propelled the UAE Bulls to victory over Aspin Stallions, helping them clinch the Abu Dhabi T10 title here at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Set a daunting 151, Stallions managed to score 70-4 and fell 80 runs short of the target.

Sherfane Rutherford was cleaned for a duck, whereas skipper Rahmanullah Gurbaz departed after a sluggish 18 off 15 balls.

UAE Bulls started with clinical bowling and never allowed the Stallions batters to free their arms. As a result, Stallions were reduced to 29-2 in 4.4 overs.

The game was already done with the  Bulls mounting pressure with economical bowling.

Gurbaz remained the top scorer with no significant contribution from other batters.

For Bulls, it was an all-round clinical bowling display, with Qais Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Junaid Siddique picking up one wicket each.

Earlier, after being put into bat first, UAE Bulls racked up a mammoth 150-1 in their allotted 10 overs.

After losing Phil Salt in the 2.2 overs, Tim David and Rovman Powell forged a 128-run stand.

Tim David remained the core aggressor and unleashed a barrage of maximums at Stallions’ bowlers.

The tall batter hit 12 sixes and three fours in his whirlwind knock, whereas Powell made 24-ball 20 runs with the aid of two fours and a six.

Before coming into the final, David also shone in the Qualifier 2 against Quetta Qavalry.

Set 105, Bulls hit the winning runs on the second ball of the seventh over, thanks to Tim David’s sublime 57* off just 18 balls, which shifted the momentum decisively in their favour after early wickets.

Abu Dhabi T10: Andre Fletcher powers Aspin Stallions to victory

ABU DHABI: Andre Fletcher’s brisk half-century propelled Aspin Stallions to victory over Ajman Titans in the eighth fixture of the Abu Dhabi T10 here at the Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Set 120, Ajman Titans could only muster 104-8 in their alloted 10 overs.

Titans started strong in pursuit of the target with Aneurin Donald and Alex Hales adding 29 in 2.1 overs. However, Zohair Iqbal dismissed both batters on successive deliveries to peg them back.

Hales made 31 from 16, striking four boundaries and a six, while Donald scored 14 from six.

After quick wickets, Titans could not get going, Zohair Iqbal cutting through their middle-order.

Ultimately, they fell 15 runs short of the target with Iqbal remaining the pick of the bowlers with three wickets

Earlier, Put into bat first, Stallions racked up 119-2 in their alloted 10 overs, courtesy of Fletcher’s half-century laced with half a dozen sixes and two fours.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz remained the other notable contributor with 23 from just six balls studded with three maximums and a four.

Meanwhile, UAE Bulls and Deccan Gladiators also secured in the seventh and sixth fixture of the tournament, played earlier in the day.

Bulls clinched a commanding win over Vista Riders by nine wickets with Muhammad Rohid earning the player of the match award.

Bulls chased down 76 run total in only 5.3 overs with Tom Moores top-scoring with 39 off 16, an innings featuring three boundaries and equal number of sixes.

For Riders, Andrew Tye managed to take one wicket each.

In the sixth fixture, David Wiese starred for Deccan Gladiators with a whirlwind 59* from 21 packed with seven sixes and two fours.

Chasing a stiff 134-run target, Gladiators hit the winning runs on the second ball of the last over.

Royal Champs put 133-3 on the board after being put into bat first, thanks to Aaron Jones and Niroshan Dickwella’s knocks.

Jones hit two fours and two sixes in his 28 from 13 while Dickella 33 from 17 featured four boundaries and a six.

Quetta Qavalry are currently top of the points table with two wins out of two games.
