Commentary panel for Pakistan-South Africa T20I series unveiled

MULTAN: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday, confirmed a five-member commentary panel and one presenter for the Women’s T20I series between Pakistan and South Africa.

The star-studded commentary panel for the three-match series between Pakistan and South Africa features Bazid Khan, Ejaz Ahmed, Hijab Zahid, Kainat Imtiaz and Sana Mir, while Sawera Pasha will serve as the presenter.

The three-match T20I series is scheduled to take place on 16, 18 and 20 September, with the first ball of the first and second T20I matches to be bowled at 7:00 pm, while the third T20I will begin at 10:00 am.

Cricket fans in Pakistan will be able to watch the matches in high definition on Pakistan’s first HD Sports Channel A Sports. Live streaming for viewers across the Pakistan region will be available on the PCB’s official YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, the PCB on Friday, announced free entry for fans for the entirety of the series.

“Free entry for fans. Come and watch the #PAKWvSAW T20I series as Multan hosts women’s international cricket for the first time,” wrote PCB across its social media platforms.

Earlier that day, the South African side touched down at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore and reached Multan by road, where the series will be played.

South Africa women’s cricket team was warmly welcomed in a traditional manner at the local hotel in Multan.

The visiting team rested today while the Pakistan women’s team held a training session at Inzamam-ul-Haq Cricket Academy.

Notably, the three-match series will serve as the preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 3 to 20 October.

After the series, South Africa will depart for the UAE on 21 September, while Pakistan will leave on 23 September.

Pakistan is in Group A of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, along with Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while South Africa is grouped with Bangladesh, England, Scotland and the West Indies.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday, announced the star-studded commentary panel for the upcoming two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Aamir Sohail, Athar Ali Khan, Bazid Khan, Nick Compton and Urooj Mumtaz will be on the commentary panel, while Sikander Bakht will be the presenter.

The commentary panel features renowned voices including Aamir Sohail, Athar Ali Khan, Bazid Khan, Nick Compton and Urooj Mumtaz. Meanwhile, Sikander Bakht will be the presenter during the course of the two-match Test series.

The series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, with the first Test commencing at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 21-25 August.

Following that, the action will shift to the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, where the second Test match will be held from 30 August to 3 September.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, announced the star-studded commentary panel for the upcoming five-match T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand.

The commentary panel features renowned voices including Waqar Younis, Bazid Khan, Urooj Mumtaz, Lisa Sthalekar and Chris Harris.

Zainab Abbas will be the presenter during the course of the five-match series.

 

For the unversed, Pakistan will host New Zealand for a five-match T20I series, scheduled to run from April 18.

ICC World Cup 2023 commentary panel unveiled

The International Cricket Council on Friday, unveiled a star-studded commentary panel for the ICC World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence on October 5.

The World Cup commentary panel comprises renowned voices cricket voices including the World Cup-winning captains Ricky Ponting and Eoin Morgan while Pakistan’s Ramiz Raja and Waqar Younis were also named in the panel.

“ICC.tv’s coverage of the event will include a pre-match show, an innings interval programme and a post-match wrap-up. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and former England skipper Eoin Morgan will join the coverage,” ICC stated in a press release.

“They will be supported by other World Cup winners Shane Watson, Lisa Sthalekar, Ramiz Raja, Ravi Shastri, Aaron Finch, Sunil Gavaskar and Matthew Hayden.

“The commentary box will mark the return of Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith and Ian Bishop, who called the memorable 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand.

“More international icons and former captains including Waqar Younis, Shaun Pollock, Anjum Chopra and Michael Atherton will also be calling the action live from the commentary box.

“They will be joined in on the fun by former international stars like Simon Doull, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Sanjay Manjrekar, Katey Martin, Dinesh Karthik, Dirk Nannes, Samuel Badree, Athar Ali Khan and Russel Arnold.

“The panel will be rounded off some of the leading broadcasters in the world who have had their fair share of iconic calls, including Harsha Bhogle, Kass Naidoo, Mark Nicholas, Natalie Germanos, Mark Howard and Ian Ward.”

A total of 10 teams will participate in the ICC World Cup 2023 – featuring 45 matches – and compete for the prestigious silverware across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19.

Like the previous edition, the ICC World Cup 2023 will also be played in a round-robin format – each team playing nine matches with the rest of the opponents.

The top four teams by the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16.

Whereas, the final of the tournament will take place on November 19 at the grand Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Notably, all three knockout matches of the ICC World Cup 2023 will have a reserve day.
