Ahmed Shehzad to lead Rawalakot Hawks in KPL 2

ISLAMABAD: Right-handed Test opener Ahmed Shehzad will lead the defending champions Rawalakot Hawks in the forthcoming second edition of Kashmir Premier League.

The right-handed experienced batter, who was a part of the Hawks’ side that lifted the inaugural title of KPL, has been handed the responsibility to captain the side in the upcoming second edition.

Taking to Twitter, the KPL franchise Rawalakot Hawks confirmed Ahmed as their captain for the next edition of KPL.

“The wait is over! Here is Hawks Captain, Ahmed Shahzad,” Hawks announced.

It is pertinent to mention here that the KPL 2 will feature seven teams in this year’s edition including Hawks, Jammu Janbaz, Mirpur Royals, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Kotli Lions, Overseas Warriors, and Bagh Stallions.

The star-studded tournament will embark on August 13 with the defending champions Hawks taking on newly-introduced Janbaz in the curtain raiser at Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium.

ISLAMABAD: All seven franchises of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) have completed their squads for the forthcoming second season of the glittering T20 League, scheduled to commence on August 11.

With the KPL 2 final draft unfolded on Saturday, all seven franchises of the league have finalized their squads for the forthcoming event, which includes some prominent names like Shahid Afridi, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, and Imad Wasim.

ISLAMABAD: All seven franchises of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) have announced their retentions for the forthcoming second season of the glittering T20 League, scheduled to commence on August 1.

According to the details shared by the KPL, all the KPL franchises have retained full allocations of five players, except, Mirpur Royals, Bagh Stallions, and Overseas Warriors as the three teams retained four players each.

Jammu Janbaz: Shahid Afridi (Platinum), Sharjeel Khan (Icon), Sahibzada Farhan (Diamond), Umar Akmal (Diamond), and Mehran Mumtaz (Kashmiri).

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has allowed its seven centrally-contracted players to participate in the forthcoming second edition of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL).

According to the details, the tournament director of KPL Rashid Latif requested the PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja to get the centrally-contracted players on board for the upcoming second edition.

After successful talks between the KPL management and the PCB, the cricket board has given a green signal to seven players to participate in the league, commencing on August 1.

As a result, Fawad Alam (Red Ball Category B), Azhar Ali (Red Ball Category A), Abid Ali (Red Ball Category D), Nauman Ali (Red Ball Category C), Haseebullah, Mohammad Huraira, Ali Usman (all three Emerging Category) will be available for selection in KPL draft, scheduled on July 21.
