Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad has called time on his international career after announcing his retirement from ODIs through a social-media post on Wednesday.
Mahmudullah’s retirement came after Bangladesh’s early exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The 39-year-old had already taken retirement from Tests and T20Is in 2021 and 2024 respectively.
“All praises only for the Almighty Allah. I have decided to retire from international cricket,” Mahmudullah wrote on his official Facebook page.
The right-hander penned a heartfelt message, thanking his family, friends and fans for supporting him throughout his career.
“I would like to thank all of my team-mates, coaches and specially my fans who has always supported me.”

“A big thank you to my parents, my in-laws specially my father in law & most importantly my brother Emdad Ullah who has been there for me constantly since my childhood as my coach & mentor, ” he added.
Mahmudullah Riyad concluded his 19-year career as the fourth-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh, trailing only Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, and Tamim Iqbal.
The all-rounder amassed 5,689 runs at an average of 36.46, which included four centuries and 32 fifties.
Mahmudullah Riyad’s retirement also marked the end of Bangladesh’s golden generation in cricket, as Shakib and Tamim had already announced their retirements from international cricket.
However, Mushfiqur Rahim, who announced his retirement from ODIs last week, will continue playing in the Test format.
