Pakistan’s Ali Sisters shine at WSF Czech Junior Open 2026

PRAGUE: Pakistan Ali Sisters star Mahnoor Ali defeated Ukraine’s Tarasova to qualify for the final of the 17th WSF Czech Junior Open 2026, currently underway in Czech Republic.

The tournament is one of Europe’s most prestigious Junior Gold-level squash tournaments.

Mahnoor booked a place in the summit clash after beating Tarasova 3–0 in the semifinal, with a dominant performance: 11–5, 11–6, 11–7.

Besides Mahnoor, another Ali sister, Sehrish Ali, also delivered a spirited performance but was defeated by the second seed Johanna Reháková of the Czech Republic.

Sehrish will now compete later today in the bronze medal match.

However, Mehwish Ali suffered a serious injury during her semifinal match.

According to available details, Mehwish Ali was in a strong position, leading the match by two games, when the injury occurred mid-match.

The severity of the injury forced an immediate halt to play, and she was subsequently shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for close medical monitoring and treatment.

Medical staff are attending to her condition, and further updates regarding her health and recovery are awaited.

The incident has cast a shadow over an otherwise outstanding tournament for Pakistan, where the Ali Sisters — Mahnoor, Mehwish, and Sehrish Ali — have once again demonstrated Pakistan’s growing strength in international junior squash.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s 13-year-old Mahnoor Ali etched her name into the record books by becoming the youngest player in the country’s history to qualify for an international squash event.

She has qualified for the 3rd Chief of Naval Staff International PSA Satellite Championship ($3000) on Saturday.

The tournament, currently underway at the RK JK Squash Complex in Karachi, has drawn top local and international players.

Earlier this year, Mahnoor Ali had already made waves on the international circuit when she clinched a silver medal at the 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championships held in Gimcheon, South Korea.

Seeded 3/4 in the Girls’ U-13 category, she displayed remarkable control and dominance, defeating India’s Anika Kalanki 11-6, 11-2, 11-3 in the quarterfinals before advancing to the final with ease.

Mahnoor Ali Bags Silver at Asian Junior Squash Championship

Gimcheon: Pakistan’s rising squash sensation, 11-year-old Mahnoor Ali, delivered a stellar performance at the 32nd Asian Junior Squash Championships, clinching a well-deserved silver medal in the Girls’ Under-13 category.

The tournament, held in Gimcheon, South Korea, showcased the finest young talent in Asian squash, with Mahnoor emerging as a standout star for Pakistan.

Mahnoor, seeded 3/4 in the Girls’ U-13 draw, began her campaign with confidence, storming into the quarterfinals. There, she faced India’s Anika Kalanki, dominating the match with a swift 11-6, 11-2, 11-3 victory to secure her spot in the semifinals.

Mahnoor Ali’s momentum continued as she pulled off a remarkable upset against Malaysia’s top seed, Maisarah Binti Khairulnizam, winning in straight sets, 11-7, 11-5, 11-7, to advance to the final.

In a thrilling championship match, Mahnoor went head-to-head with China’s Yin Ziwan. The young Pakistani prodigy fought valiantly in a five-game epic, showcasing her resilience and skill.

Despite a fierce battle, Mahnoor narrowly fell short, with the final score reading 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 12-10 in favor of Yin. Mahnoor’s silver medal was a testament to her growing prowess and determination on the international stage.

Mahnoor’s achievement was a highlight of Pakistan’s impressive performance at the championship, where the nation secured a total of seven medals: two gold, two silver, and one bronze in the main events, alongside two gold medals in the plate events.

Her silver medal adds to an already illustrious resume, which includes being the first Pakistani female to win the US Junior Open 2024 in the U-13 category, a gold medal at the Australian Junior Open 2024, and a bronze medal at the 7th Borneo Junior Open 2023.

Speaking after the tournament, Mahnoor expressed pride in her performance and gratitude to her coaches and family for their support.

“I gave my all in every match, and I’m honored to bring a medal home for Pakistan. This is just the beginning,” she said.
