Naseem Shah ruled out of Karachi Test due to injury

LAHORE: Young right-arm pacer Naseem Shah has been ruled out of the Karachi Test of the ongoing historic series between Pakistan and England due to a shoulder injury, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

According to the PCB, a niggle in his right shoulder resulted in him missing the last match of the historic home series against England.

Notably, discomfort in his shoulder also barred Naseem from partaking in the recently concluded Multan Test.

The PCB also shared that the right-arm pacer will now get rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre (NHPC), while the team management had not requested his replacement as of yet.

“The fast bowler will travel to Lahore where he will undergo further assessment at the National High Performance Centre before beginning rehabilitation,” PCB stated.

“The team management has not requested for his replacement at this stage,” PCB added.

It is pertinent to mention that the squads of Pakistan and England will land in Karachi tomorrow afternoon to lock horns in the last Test of the series, scheduled to take place from December 17 to 21.

Naseem Shah doubtful for Multan Test with shoulder discomfort: sources

MULTAN: The participation of fast bowler Naseem Shah in the second Test between Pakistan and England is under doubt due to shoulder discomfort.

According to the sources, the right-arm speedster has reported pain in his right shoulder which could possibly lead to his exclusion from the Multan Test starting tomorrow.

With Haris Rauf ruled out of the remainder of the Test series due to a quad injury, Naseem’s possible absence in the second Test appears to be a major blow to the Babar Azam-led side who are already 1-0 down in the series.

Skipper Babar, however, made no mention of Naseem’s fitness concerns during his press conference held earlier in the afternoon.

Talking about the team’s playing XI for the upcoming Test, he confirmed that the team had been almost finalized and would soon be revealed once the deliberations on one final change reached the conclusion.

“We just have to decide whether we should go with Faheem Ashraf or Mohammad Wasim Jnr,” he stated.

It is important to note here that any official confirmation from the Pakistan Cricket Board on this matter is still awaited.

Meanwhile, England skipper Ben Stokes revealed his playing lineup for the Multan Test which included spearhead pacer Mark Wood in place of injured Liam Livingstone while the rest of the English side would remain unchanged.

Injury haunts Pakistan’s pacer Naseem in County Championship

KARACHI: Pakistan’s young pacer Naseem Shah, who is representing Gloucestershire in the ongoing County Cricket Championship 2022, sustained a shoulder injury during his first match of the tournament.

Naseem, while playing in the division one match of the ongoing County Championship, sustained a shoulder injury.

The injury also prevented the young pacer from bowling on the final day of the match.

Naseem only bowled in the first innings of the match, bowling 11 overs and picking up one wicket for 41 runs.

According to the details, the Gloucestershire management, on the other hand, is confident about Naseem recovering completely ahead of the next fixture.

It is pertinent to mention here that Gloucestershire signed the 22-year-old pacer for the entire season and he will also be available for the county in the upcoming T20 Blast.
