Lahore beat Peshawar by two wickets in a thriller in Blind T20 Trophy

ISLAMABAD: Lahore’s Muhammad Rizwan played a sensible knock as Lahore defeated Peshawar by two wickets in a second-round nail-biter of the ongoing Pakistan T20 Blind Cricket Trophy, here on Friday.

In the third match of the ongoing second round of Blind T20 Trophy, Lahore sealed a thrilling victory over Peshawar by two wickets, thanks to the sensible knock of Rizwan.

Set to chase 194, Lahore were off to a poor start as the side lost early wickets. Muhammad Salman played a sensible knock of 50 runs on just 24 balls to give his side a boost but his wicket, however, resulted in the opposite.

In the fourth match of the second round, Gujranwala edged past Bahawalpur in a high-scoring thriller by seven wickets.

Batting first, Bahawalpur posted a mammoth 233/7 in 20 overs, thanks to Muhammad Rashid’s extraordinary knock of 88 runs off just 37 deliveries, laced with 17 boundaries. Moeen Aslam, on the other hand, also chipped in as he made 61 runs off 43 balls.

Muhammad Zafar’s 16-balls 32 runs knock added a little cherry on the top and lifted the run rate in the death overs.

In reply, the masterclass innings of Muhammad Akram helped Gujranwala to seal a thrilling victory. Akram scored an unbeaten 137 off 77 balls including 17 boundaries. Talha Iqbal made quick 29 runs.

ISLAMABAD: The home side of Islamabad, alongside Lahore, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Bahawalpur secured first-round triumphs in the ongoing Pakistan T20 Blind Cricket Trophy.

In the first match, Anees Javed’s magnificent all-round performance assisted the home side of Islamabad to thrash Gujranwala by a huge margin of 115 runs.

The skipper Nisar and Habib Taj claimed one wicket apiece for AJK.

In another match, Lahore thumped Okara by eight wickets following a clinical run chase.

Set to chase 176 in 20 overs, the side chased down the target in style in the 12th over for the loss of two wickets.

Matiullah played a magnificent knock of 85 runs off 38 balls with the help of 12 boundaries and a six and remained the top-scorer for the side. Muhammad Salman also chipped in with a brilliant half-century; scoring 50 runs off just 17 balls.

Iftikhar Tiger was the only bowler for Okara to claim a wicket.

In the fourth match of the opening round, Bahawalpur also claimed their first victory of the tournament following a dominating run-chase.

The side chased down the target of 133 in just 10.5 overs for the loss of one wicket. Moeen Aslam went hard at the bowlers as he smashed an unbeaten 78 runs in the run chase off just 37 balls including 11 boundaries and a six.
