Pakistan sink Thailand to reach AVC Challenge Cup quarter-final

ISA TOWN: The Pakistan Volleyball team eased past Thailand to qualify for the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup quarter-final on Monday.

In their second match of the tournament, the Green Shirts secured a dominant victory over Thailand with scores of 25-22, 25-14 and 25-21.

Pakistan started the match on a high as they secured the first set with ease. The national team were even more ruthless in the second set, winning it 25-14.

The Green Shirts continued their dominance in the third and decisive set by winning it 25-21 to highlight their adaptability to pressure and ability to capitalize on the opposition’s errors.

The second straight-set victory in the ongoing AVC Challenge Cup propelled Pakistan to the top of Pool B and into the quarter-finals.

They will face the Pool D’s second-placed side in the knockout match.

For the unversed, the Pakistan Volleyball team is in red-hot form as they have now won 11 matches in a row.

Their winning streak started in the recently-held Central Asian Volleyball Championship in Islamabad.

The hosts remained unbeaten in the entirety of the tournament, winning six matches in the process.

In the enthralling final, Pakistan emerged victorious by winning three sets while Turkmenistan managed to win only one.

Pakistan then locked horns in a three-match home series against Australia and whitewashed the touring side to extend their winning run.

The national Volleyball brought their momentum into the AVC Challenge Cup and blew away Kazakhstan in their campaign opener on Sunday.

Pakistan secured a dominant victory over Kazakhstan with scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-21.

Pakistan Volleyball team’s head coach Ruben Wolochin was elated by his team’s performance and stated that the players executed the plans to almost perfection.

“The boys played with great determination and executed the strategies perfectly,” said Wolochin.

“This win is a testament to their hard work and dedication,” he added.

Pakistan clean sweep Australia in Volleyball series

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Volleyball team continued their dominance over Australia and swept the three-match series, held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex here.

In the third and final match of the home series, Pakistan outclassed Australia with scores of 26-24, 25-20, and 25-20.

The home side started the match on a high as they secured the first set with a score of 25-22.

Pakistan banked on their momentum and denied Australia a chance to clinch their first set in the ongoing series, emerging victorious in the remaining two sets to complete a dominant victory over the touring side.

Pakistan had already secured the series when they thumped Australia in the second match by 26-24, 25-19 and 25-23.

The home side also clinched a straight-set victory in the series opener, beating Australia with a scoreline of 25-22, 25-22 and 25-20.

Notably, Australia are ranked 35th in the world, 13 places ahead of Pakistan, ranked 49th.

Australia’s volleyball squad reached here on Sunday to embark on their first-ever tour to Pakistan for an international series.

The series was organised by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) at the request of the Australian Volleyball Federation.

The visiting team received a warm welcome on their arrival at Islamabad International Airport from the officials of the PVF.

“All matches will be starting from 6:30 PM and entry of the fans and supporters are free”, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaqoob, Chairman of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation announced.

“It will be a cracker of a series as Pakistan has recently won the Central Asian title while Australia is ranked much higher. Both teams are preparing for the Challenge Cup to be held in Bahrain next month,” he added.

Australia Volleyball Team reaches Pakistan for three-match series

ISLAMABAD: Australia’s volleyball squad reached here on Sunday ahead of a three-match volleyball series against Pakistan, scheduled to run from May 28 to 30.

This is the first time an Australian volleyball team has visited Pakistan to play an international series.

The series was organised by the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) at the request of the Australian Volleyball Federation.

The visiting team received a warm welcome on their arrival at Islamabad International Airport from the officials of the PVF.

Australia will take part in the practice session today followed by the pre-event press conference at 5:00 PM at the local hotel Islamabad.

Nehemiah Mote is leading the Australian squad, which features Luke Perry, Arshdeep Dosanjh, Jackson Holland, Trent O’dea, Matthew Aubrey, Max Senica, Beau Graham, Thomas Heptinstall, Sam Flowerday, Nicholas Butler, Ethan Garrett, William D’arcy Miles, and Jacob Baird.

The first match of the three-match series will be held on May 28 at Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, while the second match will be played on May 29 and the third match of the series will be held on May 30.
