After medical evaluation, surgery was deemed necessary, and Shadab is now likely to travel to the UK to have the procedure done.

Mohammad Haris, who has represented Pakistan in 17 T20Is, has vast leadership experience. The 24-year-old has captained both the Pakistan Shaheens and the Pakistan A team.

Moreover, Pakistan also won the Emerging Asia Cup in 2023 under Mohammad Haris’ captaincy, defeating arch-rivals India in the final.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan gears up for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to begin on July 20 in Dhaka.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to announce the squad for the series later this week, with preparations set to begin on July 7 in Karachi.

A training camp will be held at the National Bank Stadium to fine-tune the squad ahead of the short tour.

Notably, the star trio of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi, all rested for the previous home series against Bangladesh, are reportedly set to remain on the sidelines, with no clear timeline for their return.

Pakistan will arrive in Dhaka on July 16 before facing the Bangladesh cricket team in the first T20I on Sunday, July 20.

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has shared his thoughts after being picked up by the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise, Sydney Thunder, for the 15th edition of the tournament.

Sharing his thoughts via a social media post, Shadab Khan remained optimistic about participating in one of the global T20 cricket marquee leagues.

“Excited to join @thunderbbl. Always a test to play in the BBL. Australian conditions bring a new challenge each time,” Shadab wrote.

Shadab Khan will play for his fourth BBL franchise, having previously featured for the Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Hobart Hurricanes. Shadab Khan has 14 wickets in 12 matches to his name at an economy of 7.50.

For the unversed, the BBL 15 Draft, held in Melbourne on Thursday, saw six of the eight franchises show interest in Pakistan’s top players, with five national stars eventually earning contracts.

Pakistan’s gap in the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP) from November to February provides their top cricketers a window of opportunity to participate in the BBL 15.

Islamabad United have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 fixture against Quetta Gladiators, with skipper Shadab Khan ruled out of the match due to a groin injury.

LAHORE: Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan blamed poor fielding for their crushing defeat against Lahore Qalandars in the 19th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 here at Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a daunting 210-run target, Islamabad United crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 121 in 16.5 overs, courtesy of a dominant bowling display from Lahore Qalandars.

Andries Gous remained the top scorer for United, scoring 41 runs off 27 balls, which included two fours and three sixes.

While speaking during the post-match presentation, Shadab Khan highlighted the shortcomings in the match, rueing poor fielding.

“I think our fielding lapses really hurt us today, especially when set batters were given chances, it made a big difference. We definitely fell short in the field, ” he said.

“As professionals, we have to be ready for any situation. When you’re chasing a big total, the mindset has to match the challenge. Unfortunately, we gave away too many soft dismissals and didn’t bat up to our potential,” said Shadab.

He emphasized the pitch, deeming it favorable for fast bowlers, and mentioned that the pitch had become easier once the ball became softer.

“The pitch had something in it for the pacers. Early on, the hard length was effective, but once the ball got softer, batting became easier. It wasn’t spinning much, so the fast bowlers had a clear advantage if they hit the right areas,” he observed.

Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has opened up about the continuous chatter surrounding his relationship with former head coach and current PCB mentor Saqlain Mushtaq.

In a candid interview with a local news platform, Shadab addressed the growing narrative that his selection was influenced by his personal ties with Saqlain Mushtaq, whose daughter he married two years ago.

Setting the record straight, Shadab reminded critics of his contributions to Pakistan cricket long before his marriage.
