Five-star Bosch seals emphatic win for South Africa over Zimbabwe

Fast bowler Corbin Bosch bowled South Africa to a 328-run win over Zimbabwe on the fourth day of the first Test at Queens Sports Club on Tuesday.

Bosch followed up a splendid first innings century by taking five for 43 as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 208 while chasing a mammoth 537-runs.

Playing in his second Test, Bosch became the fourth South African to score a century and take five wickets in an innings in a Test.

Corbin Bosch, who broke a stubborn opening stand with the last ball of Monday’s play, struck with the first delivery on Tuesday when new batter Nick Welch fended a lifting delivery to short leg.

First innings century-maker Sean Williams went on the attack, hitting five fours in scoring 26 off 18 balls.

But Williams became Bosch’s third victim when he got into a tangle trying to play to leg and was caught behind off a top edge.

Fellow fast bowler Codi Yusuf replaced Bosch and quickly picked up three wickets as Zimbabwe crashed to 82 for six.

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine (49) and Wellington Masakadza (57) delayed South Africa’s win by putting on 83 for the sixth wicket before Bosch had Ervine smartly caught at short leg by Tony de Zorzi.

Bosch completed his five-wicket haul when he bowled Vincent Masekesa for three.

The left-hand batter Masakadza, with a previous highest Test score of 17, struck nine fours in an attacking innings before he was caught at slip off South African captain, left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj.

South Africa fielded only four of the players who won the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord’s last month.

The Test series between South Africa and Zimbabwe does not count towards the new championship standings.

Corbin Bosch penalised by PCB for violating PSL contract

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has slapped a one-year ban on South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for breaching his Pakistan Super League (PSL) contract with Peshawar Zalmi.

Bosch was picked in the diamond category by Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi during the PSL 10 player draft earlier this year.

However, the all-rounder opted out of the PSL to join the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), a move that didn’t sit well with the PCB.

The board initially served Bosch with a legal notice, seeking a formal explanation for his decision.

Following internal proceedings and in line with the contractual obligations, the PCB has now confirmed a one-year ban on Bosch from the PSL, along with an undisclosed financial penalty.

“The all-rounder will serve a one-year ban and will not be eligible for selection in next year’s Pakistan Super League,” the board stated.

Due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) signed between Bosch and the PCB, the financial details of the penalty have not been made public.

In an official statement shared by the PCB, Bosch acknowledged his mistake and issued an apology to Zalmi fans and the wider Pakistani cricket community.

“I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi and the wider cricket community,” Corbin Bosch said.

He added that he accepts full responsibility for his actions and is prepared to serve the ban and financial penalty.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the HBL PSL,” he added.

“This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the HBL PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans,” he concluded.

Corbin Bosch responds to PCB’s legal notice over PSL withdrawal

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has formally responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding his decision to withdraw from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, citing financial security and long-term career growth as the primary reasons.

Initially picked by Peshawar Zalmi for PSL 10, Bosch opted to join Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) instead, a move that left PCB officials frustrated and raised questions over his commitment to the PSL.

The board, viewing his withdrawal as a breach of contract, initiated legal proceedings through Bosch’s agent.

On Monday, Bosch addressed the PCB’s concerns, clarifying that his decision was not intended to undermine the PSL.

He explained that signing with Mumbai Indians was a strategic career move, considering the franchise’s dominance in the IPL and its strong global connections across multiple leagues—factors that could provide him with better long-term opportunities.

The PCB is now reviewing his response to assess the contract violation and decide on possible actions against the player.

Following Bosch’s withdrawal, Peshawar Zalmi moved swiftly to sign Australian middle-order batter Mitchell Owen as his replacement for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build for the PSL 10, which is scheduled to kick off on Friday, April 11. Defending champions Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars in the tournament opener at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

PCB issues legal notice to South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has served a legal notice to South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for breaching his contractual obligations with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Sunday.

Corbin Bosch was selected by Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL player draft on January 13 in Lahore.

However, Indian Premier League (IPL) Mumbai Indians had also signed him as a replacement for his compatriot injured Lizaad Williams.

Bosch’s signing means he will forgo his PSL contract, as the IPL begins on March 22 and overlaps with the PSL’s April-May schedule.

According to the report, the player is alleged to have violated the terms of his contract. Pakistan Cricket Board has sent a legal notice to all-rounder Corbin Bosch through his agent.

The PCB management has outlined the implications and potential consequences of his withdrawal from the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League.

“Bosch was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the tenth edition of HBL PSL Player Draft, held in Lahore on 13 January,” the PCB said in a statement on Sunday.

“The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments.”

For the unversed, the PSL 10 will begin on Friday, 11 April, with defending champions Islamabad United taking on champions Lahore Qalandars two times at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The six-team tournament will see 34 matches from 11 April to 18 May, with Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium set to host 13 matches, including two Eliminators and the final.

The marquee event will also feature three double-headers, with two matches on weekends (Saturday) and one on a national holiday (Labour Day).

Karachi Kings, the winners of the league’s fifth edition, will begin their campaign on 12 April in their own backyard against runners-up of the last edition, Multan Sultans.

The first PSL 10 match in Multan will be played on 22 April between the Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars.

The newly constructed Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will welcome the tenth edition of the PSL on 24 April with home side Qalandars, winners of the seventh and eighth editions, taking on Peshawar Zalmi.

Peshawar Zalmi, champions of the PSL 2017, will play their five matches at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, while the winners of the fourth edition, Quetta Gladiators, will play five matches at the Gaddafi Stadium.
