Taskin, Saif help Dhaka Capitals rout Chattogram Royals

MIRPUR: Saif Hassan’s 73 from 44 balls, backed up by impressive bowling from Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed, helped Dhaka Capitals crush Chattogram Royals in the 30th fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26.

Chasing a stiff target of 171, Chattogram Royals were skittled for 128 in 19.4 overs.

Taskin Ahmed inflicted a poor start on Royals as Mohammad Haris was sent back for a golden duck in the first over.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy followed him for six while Shadman Islam was caught behind, leaving Royals 19-3 in 2.3 overs.

After early hiccups, Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Naim tried to arrest the slide with a brief 25-run partnership.

The scorecard read 44 in 7.4 overs before another collapse slumped them to 54-6 in 11.3 overs.

The game was done and dusted a long time ago, but Aamer Jamal resisted with a brisk 42 from 26 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.

His valiant effort ended on the third ball of the final over, resulting in an all-out and a comprehensive win for Dhaka Capitals.

For Dhaka Capitals, Mohammad Saifuddin took four wickets while Taskin Ahmed was equally good for his three scalps.

Earlier, after being given the oppurtunity to bat first, Dhaka Capitals were bowled out for 170 in 19.5 overs.

Saif Hassan was the star batter with 73 from 44 balls, laced with five sixes and five fours.

The right-hander stitched a crucial partnership of 90 runs with Zubaid Akbari, which kept the Dhaka Capitals innings afloat.

Meanwhile, Zubaid scored 29 from 30 balls with the help of two sixes and a four.

For Chattogram Royals, Tanvir Islam picked up three wickets.

BPL: Tanzid stars as Rajshahi Warriors move to top spot

SYLHET: Tanzid Hasan played an impressive knock of 76 from 43 balls to help Rajshahi Warriors ease past Dhaka Capitals in the 24th fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26.

With this win, Warriors are now in pole position with 12 points in eight games.

Rajshahi Warriors moved to the top spot after chasing down a partly target of 132 in 16.1 overs, losing three wickets in the process.

Muhammad Waseem and Tanzid Hasan started the chase on a positive note with a 38-run stand in 4.2 overs.

Waseem made 22 off 13 with the aid of a six and two fours.

Meanwhile, Tanzid and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto kept the Capitals bowlers away with a 33-run partnership.

Tanzid Hasan did the bulk of the scoring, with the latter being dismissed for five in the eighth over of the game. Shanto could only add five to the total.

At this stage, Rajshahi Warriors were 71-2 with seasoned batter Mushfiqur Rahim joining Tanzid. The pair put on a 44-run partnership, which gave the Warriors the insight they needed for the victory.

Imad Wasim eventually broke the stand with Tanzid’s wicket, who was cleaned up after hitting five sixes and seven fours.

Eventually, the Warriors cruised to a victory with Mushfiqur Rahim (12*) and James Neesham (10*) at the crease.

For Dhaka Capitals, Saif Hassan, Nasir Hossain, and Imad Wasim picked up a wicket each.

Earlier, Dhaka Capitals could not capitalize on the decision to bat first as the whole side was skittled out for 131 on the last ball of the final over.

Usman Khan remained the top scorer with 41 off 27 balls, striking five fours and two sixes.

Despite an opening partnership of 54 runs in the first over, the Capitals’ middle order could not rise to the occasion with wickets tumbling at regular intervals.

Abdul Gaffar Saqlain and Ripon Mondol were the chief destroyers as they never allowed Capitals batters to bat freely, resulting in a below-par total.

For Rajshahi Warriors, Abdul Gaffar Saqlain starred with the ball, taking a four-wicket haul. Ripon Mondol continued his impressive run in the tournament with three scalps to his name.

Eisakhil, Ihsanullah shine as Noakhali Express beat Dhaka Capitals

SYLHET: Hassan Eisakhil’s sublime knock and an all-round bowling performance led by pacer Ihsanullah led Noakhali Express to an easy win over Dhaka Capitals here in the 22nd fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 on Sunday.

Set a challenging 185-run target, Capitals’ innings folded on 143 in 18.2 overs.

Ihsanullah and Hasan Mahmud inflicted a poor start on Capitals, reducing them to 19-4 in 4.2 overs.

Following the early hiccup, Mohammad Mithun and Shamim Hossain arrested the slide with a half-century stand.

Hossain departed after scoring 29 from 16 with the aid of four boundaries and a six.

Meanwhile, Mithun (33 from 31) was also sent back at the end of the 13th over, which sparked a collapse that Capitals could not recover from.

Eventually, the whole team was bundled out, which handed Noahkhali Express their second win of the season.

For Noakhali Express, it was an all-round bowling performance with Mohammad Nabi and Ihsanullah picking up two wickets each.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Noakhali Express piled up 184/7 in their 20 overs.

Hassan Eisakhil starred with the bat, top-scoring with 92 from 60 balls with the help of five sixes and seven fours.

The highlight of the innings was the opening partnership, with Eisakhil and Soumya Sarkar adding 101 in 9.2 overs.

Shahadat Hossain also contributed with the bat, hitting seven fours and a six before getting caught behind for 48 from 25 balls.

For Dhaka Capitals, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taijul Islam, and Abdullah Al Mamun scalped two wickets apiece.

Earlier in the day, Rajshahi Warriors eased past Rangpur Riders by seven wickets.

The Warriors chased down the 179-run target, losing four wickets in the process with five balls remaining.

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Muhammad Waseem starred with the bat, both scoring 76 and 87, respectively.

Nasir Hossain’s 90* powers Dhaka past Noakhali in BPL 2026

SYLHET: An imperious unbeaten knock from Nasir Hossain guided Dhaka Capitals to a commanding seven-wicket victory over winless Noakhali Express in a one-sided Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 clash here on Wednesday.

Chasing a modest target of 134, Dhaka suffered an early wobble as openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Abdullah Al Mamun departed cheaply, leaving the Capitals struggling at 14 for two.

However, Nasir Hossain steadied the innings with a decisive third-wicket partnership alongside Irfaan Shukkur, adding 59 runs to wrest control back from Noakhali.

Shukkur contributed 12 off 11 deliveries before falling to Zahir Khan, but Nasir found an able partner in Imad Wasim thereafter.

The pair stitched together an unbeaten 61-run stand, comfortably steering Dhaka to victory with 35 balls to spare.

Nasir was the standout performer, finishing unbeaten on 90 off 50 balls, laced with 14 boundaries and two sixes. Imad provided brisk support, scoring 29 off just 16 deliveries to seal the chase emphatically.

Earlier, Noakhali Express endured another difficult outing with the bat after being sent in. Their innings faltered early as they slipped to 40 for five inside 10 overs.

Skipper Haider Ali and Mohammad Nabi then attempted a rescue act, adding 90 runs for the sixth wicket to lift their side to a respectable total.

Haider scored 47 off 36 balls, including three fours and a six, before being dismissed in the final over, while Nabi remained unbeaten on 42 off 33, striking two fours and two sixes.

Despite the late recovery, Noakhali could only manage 133 for six in their 20 overs.

Dhaka Capitals’ bowling effort was a collective one, with Imad Wasim, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Ziaur Rahman, Nasir Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun all picking up a wicket apiece.

The victory marks Dhaka Capitals’ second win from five matches, placing them fifth on the points table.

Noakhali Express, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom, still searching for their first win after five outings in their debut season.

Khushdil, Mustafizur shine in last-over thriller for Rangpur Riders

SYLHET: All-round Khushdil Shah and an impressive final over from pacer Mustafizur Rahman helped Rangpur Riders seal a thrilling five-run victory over Dhaka Capitals in the 12th fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26.

Set 156, Capitals fell short by five runs at the end of their 20 overs, with 10 required on the last six balls.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Abdullah Al Mamun provided a solid start with 54 on the board in the first six overs.

However, Kyle Mayers and Khushdil Shah removed both batters in consecutive overs to put Dhaka Capitals back into the game.

Gurbaz made 31 from 22 with the aid of five fours and six, while Mamun hit four boundaries in his 20 off 18.

Despite the wickets, Mohammad Mithun and Saif Hassan were able to lift their side out of trouble as they added 51 for the third wicket partnership. The pair composed a batting partnership that brought the score to 111 in 15.1 overs.

Saif made 15 from 24 balls, an innings without a single boundary.

Meanwhile, Mithun managed to string a couple of partnerships, first wiht Shamim Hossain and then with Sabbir Rahman, that brought them near the target.

But it was an impressive final over from Mustafizur that turned the match on its head.

With 10 required of six, Mustafizur started with a single, followed by two dots on the next two deliveries. The left-arm pacer gave nothing away in the next three balls as Sabbir and Mithun could only take three singles.

For Rangpur Riders, Khushdil Shah, Kyle Mayers, Mustafizur Rahman, and Al Islam picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, put into bat first, Rangpur Riders were limited to 155-5 in their 20 overs.

Dhaka Capitals bowlers put Riders in early trouble as they were reduced to 30-3 in 5.2 overs.

But it was Dawid Malan’s and Mahmudullah’s 74-run stand that laid the foundation for a competitive total.

The stand eventually ended with Malan’s wicket, the scorecard reading 104-4 in 14.2 overs.

Mahmudullah, meanwhile, continued on and scored a half-century before getting caught in the 17th over. The right-handed batter made 51 off 41 balls with the help of seven boundaries.

Khushdil, on the other hand, provided Riders’ innings with a s late flourish, scoring a brisk 38* off 21, which included two sixes and four boundaries.

For Dhaka Capitals, Ziaur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers as he took two wickets in his quota of four overs.

Dominant Chattogram Royals hammer Dhaka Capitals by ten wickets

SYLHET: Adam Rossington and Mohammad Naim produced a dominant opening partnership to steer Chattogram Royals to a comprehensive ten-wicket victory over Dhaka Capitals in the ninth match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 here on Friday.

After opting to bowl first, the Royals delivered a clinical performance with the ball, dismissing the Dhaka Capitals for a modest 122 in 19.4 overs.

The Capitals never found momentum, with their batting line-up struggling against disciplined bowling and clever variations. Only three Dhaka batters managed to reach double figures.

Mohammad Saifuddin top-scored with an unbeaten 33, while Usman Khan contributed a brisk 21 off 15 balls. Nasir Hossain laboured to 17 from 20 deliveries as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Shoriful Islam and Tanvir Islam were the standout performers for Chattogram, claiming three wickets apiece to dismantle the middle order.

Mahedi Hasan provided valuable support with two wickets, while Aamir Jamal chipped in with one scalp.

In reply, the Royals made light work of the chase. Rossington and Naim came out with positive intent and never allowed the Capitals a way back into the contest.

The pair put together an unbeaten opening stand of 123, sealing the target in just 12.4 overs.

Rossington led the charge with a fluent 60 off 36 balls, striking nine fours and two sixes. At the other end, Naim played the perfect supporting role, scoring 54 from 40 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and a six.

The emphatic win marked Chattogram Royals’ second victory in three matches, lifting them to second place on the BPL points table. Dhaka Capitals, meanwhile, remain fifth, having managed just one win from their opening three games.

All-round Omarzai fires Sylhet Titans to victory

SYLHET: Azmatullah Omarzai showcased his all-round prowess to lead Sylhet Titans to a narrow six-run victory over Dhaka Capitals, who fell short despite Shamim Hossain’s spirited knock in the seventh fixture of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025.

Set stiff 174, Capitals scored 167 for 8 at the end of their 20 overs.

Mohammad Amir removed opener Zubaid Akbari in the second over to give Titans a strong start, before Nasum Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Omarzai left them reeling at 43-5 in 7.3 overs.

Usman was cleaned up for 21, while Saif Hassan followed him after for nine, and skipper Mohammad Mithun could not open his account.

They were put in dire straits Nasir Hossain was trapped lbw for five.

With half of Capitals’ side back in the hutch, Shamim Hossain and Sabbir Rahman tried to arrest the slide with a 46-run partnership.

The duo partnership brought the score to 89 before Sabbir was removed for 23 off 19.

With wickets tumbling around, it was Shamim’s lone hand that brought the team near the target. He single-handedly brought Capitals back into the match, thanks to a ninth-wicket partnership of 52* with Taskin Ahmed.

But in the end, it proved too much for his side as Shamim Hossain remained unbeaten on 81 from 43 with the aid of nine fours and three sixes.

For Sylhet Titans, Azmatullah Omarzai delivered with the ball and picked up three wickets. Nasum Ahmed and Mohammad Amir also chipped in with two wickets each.

Earlier, Dhaka Capitals invited Sylhet Titans to bat first as they managed to put 173-5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Saim Ayub and Rony Talukdar put on 16 in 2.2 overs before the latter was dismissed for 11.

Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not trouble the scorers and only scored six. With 22-2 in 3.4 overs, Saim and Parvez Hossain Emon forged a 64-run partnership.

Saim was dismissed for 29 off 34 balls with the help of a boundary.

However, it was Azmatullah Omarzai’s and Parvez Hossain Emon’s decisive 51* run partnership off just 20 balls that shifted the momentum in Titans’ favor.

Emon’s 44 from 32 included two fours and two sixes, while Omarzai hit three sixes and five fours in his half-century off just 24 balls.

Salman Mirza picked up two wickets in his quota of four overs for Dhaka Capitals.

BPL: Imad Wasim helps Dhaka Capitals edge past Rajshahi Warriors

SYLHET: An all-round effort led by Imad Wasim and Abdullah Al Mamun guided Dhaka Capitals to a comfortable victory over Rajshahi Warriors in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clash at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Opting to field first, Dhaka Capitals struck immediately as Imad delivered a perfect start, dismissing Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan with the very first ball of the innings.

Rajshahi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, fresh off an unbeaten century in the previous match, tried to steady the innings and emerged as the top-scorer with 37 off 28 balls, laced with two fours and as many sixes.

However, Rajshahi failed to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals against a disciplined bowling display.

Mushfiqur Rahim chipped in with 24 off 23 balls, while Mohammad Nawaz provided some late resistance with an unbeaten 26 off 26 deliveries.

Rajshahi Warriors were eventually restricted to 132 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Abdullah Al Mamun then took charge of the chase, anchoring the innings with a composed 45 off 39 balls, including five boundaries and a six, to put his side firmly in control.

After Mamun’s dismissal, Sabbir Rahman played a brisk cameo of 21 off just 10 deliveries, sealing the chase in style with a towering six, as Dhaka Capitals crossed the target with ease.

For Rajshahi Warriors, Mohammad Nawaz was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Sandeep Lamichhane picked up one each.

Dhaka Capitals coach dies after collapsing ahead of BPL match

Tragedy struck the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Saturday as Dhaka Capitals assistant coach, Mahbub Ali Zaki, collapsed just before the clash against Rajshahi Warriors in Sylhet and later passed away.

The incident occurred during pre-match preparations, roughly 20 minutes before the scheduled start.

Players from both teams were warming up near their dressing rooms when Zaki suddenly fell ill and collapsed.

Emergency medical attention was administered immediately, including CPR, before he was rushed to Al Haramain Hospital in Sylhet.

Despite intensive care efforts and being moved to the hospital’s ICU, Zaki, a seasoned domestic cricket coach, could not be saved and succumbed to a heart attack.

Dhaka Capitals confirmed the heartbreaking news through an official statement on social media, expressing profound grief over the loss.

“It is with great sadness to we inform you that our dear assistant coach of the Dhaka Capitals family has left us after suffering from heart disease,” the franchise wrote on Facebook.

“We are deeply saddened by this irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
