Pakistan thrash Indonesia 13-0 in Hockey Asia Cup 2022

JAKARTA: Pakistan outclassed Indonesia by 13-0 in their second match of the ongoing Hockey Asia Cup 2022, here on Tuesday.

After an important draw against the arch-rivals India in their opening match of the Asia Cup campaign, the Green Shirts squared off against Indonesia in a must-win clash.

The players displayed accordingly and outclassed Indonesia as the side thumped the hosts by a massive margin of 13-0.

Pakistan’s forward Rizwan Ali scored a hat-trick while Rana Waheed, Abdul Mannan and Ajaz Ahmed netted two goals each. Mubashir Ali, Ghazanfar Ali, Ali Shan, and Moin Shakeel, on the other hand, struck a goal each.

Fuelled with momentum, Pakistan will now face the reigning Asian champion Japan in their last group match on May 26. The Green Shirts can book their place in the upcoming World Cup by defeating the defending champion Japan.

Pakistan edge past Oman in the Hockey Asia Cup practice match

JAKARTA: Pakistan National Men’s Hockey team sealed their first victory of the Hockey Asia Cup 2022 as the side defeated Oman by 1-0 in their second practice match, here on Saturday.

Pakistan, which suffered an opening defeat at the hands of Korea in their first practice match, quickly bounced back and sealed an important victory before officially starting their Asia Cup campaign.

Pakistan’s forward Rizwan Ali, netted the ball once to hand the side an everlasting lead and provided the momentum before their first group match, in which the Green Shirts are scheduled to take on the arch-rivals India.

Pakistan will take on India on May 23, followed by their second match against the hosts Indonesia on May 24, and the third against Japan on May 26.

Pakistan Hockey Federation announces 20-members squad for Asia Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the 20-men national squad for the upcoming Asia Cup.

After the conclusion of the training camp comprising 24 players, the PHF selected 20 players to travel to Jakarta for the upcoming Asia Cup on the basis of their performances.

The PHF selection committee then announced the 20-members squad after the approval of PHF President Brigadier (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.

The forward Umar Bhatta will continue to lead the side, whereas Ali Shan will be acting as the vice-captain. The squad will leave for Jakarta on May 19 for the tournament.

Pakistan Hockey Team’s training camp for Asia Cup commences

LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Team’s training camp for the upcoming Asia Cup, has been kicked off at National Stadium here on Wednesday.

The training camp comprises 24 players and will be held till May 18 to formally initiate the team’s preparations for the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup.

The national team’s manager Olympian Khuwaja Junaid, Head coach Siegfried Aikman, alongside, assistant coaches Waseem Ahmed, Sameer Hussain, and Ajmal Khan, and goalkeeping coach Nadeem Lodhi are also present at the training camp.

It is worth mentioning here that the Asia Cup 2022 will be played in Jakarta in June this year.

Men’s Hockey Asia Cup to kick off on May 23 in Indonesia

KARACHI: The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has unveiled the schedule for the upcoming Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, the eight-team tournament will begin on May 23 in Indonesia.

The Men’s Hockey Asia Cup will be played in Indonesia from May 23 to June 01. The eight-team tournament will comprise 24 matches.

Pakistan will play their opening match against the arch-rivals India on May 23 as the two teams are placed in Group A alongside Japan and Indonesia. Whereas, Group B includes Malaysia, Korea, Oman, and Bangladesh.

Taking to Twitter, AHF shared the fixtures for the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup.
