Bairstow, Pant step into top 10 as Kohli slips in latest ICC Test rankings

DUBAI: England’s batter Jonny Bairstow and Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh pant have been rewarded for their astounding forms as both stepped into the top 10 in the latest ICC Test batting rankings.

Bairstow made a leap forward to secure the 10th spot, meanwhile, Pant jumped six places to finish 5th in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The 32-year-old Bairstow has been in sublime form in red-ball cricket as he smashed four centuries in the last three Tests, including dual tons against India in the rescheduled Test at Edgbaston aiding his side to clinch a historic chase in the fourth innings, yesterday.

Meanwhile, England’s Joe Root continues to lead the rankings, followed by Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in second and third spots, respectively.

Pakistan slip a spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings

England’s dominant series victory over New Zealand has cost Pakistan their hold on the fifth rank as the Green Shirts have slipped to the sixth position in the latest rankings.

Babar rises to fourth position in latest ICC Test Batting Rankings

DUBAI: Following his sensational batting form, Pakistan’s captain and star batter Babar Azam has claimed the fourth position in the latest Test batting rankings announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), here on Wednesday.

Babar has been elevated from fifth to the fourth spot in the latest rankings released by the ICC, as he surpassed New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson with a rating of 815 compared to the latter’s 806 ratings.

Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne remained at the top of the Test batters’ rankings, followed by England’s Joe Root as Australia’s Steve Smith slipped to the third spot.

It is pertinent to mention here that Babar still holds the top position in the ODI and T20I batters’ rankings with 891 and 818 ratings respectively.

Williamson loses No.1 Test ranking to Smith

Karachi: New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has lost No.1 position in the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings to Australia batsman Steve Smith.
The 32-year-old Smith reclaimed the spot for the first time since the Boxing Day Tests last year.
Williamson, who missed the second Test against England at Edgbaston due to injury after scoring 13 runs in the drawn first Test at Lord’s, has slipped five points behind Smith’s 891 rating points and is second in the batters’ list.
On the other hand, Matt Henry’s player of the match performance (three wickets in each innings) has lifted him to a career-best 307 points and 64th position.

Anrich Nortje is up into the top 30 for the first time in his career finishing with seven wickets in the match, while Lungi Ngidi is up 14 places to 44th position with a first-innings five-wicket haul.
