DUBAI: Pakistan opener batter Sahibzada Farhan continued to shine as he moved up four spots in the latest ICC T20I rankings announced on Wednesday.

The right-hander, who played a match-winning knock of 74 against the USA in the T20 World Cup, climbed four spots and moved to fourth position with 769 rating points.

This is Farhan’s second highest-ranking in his career, having previously reached the spot with 776 rating points.

On the other hand, Fakhar Zaman jumped three places to 57th position while Salman Ali Agha dropped to 63rd position.

Meanwhile, India opener Abhishek Sharma continued to stamp his authority in the shorter format with a top position.

In the T20I bowling rankings, spinner Abrar Ahmed remains at eighth position with 659 points, while Mohammad Nawaz made a huge leap, moving 14 places to 13th spot with 638 points.

The top position is held by Varun Chakravarthy, followed by New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy in second and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.

Among the all-rounder rankings, Zimbabwe Sikandar Raza pipped Saim Ayub to move up to the top position.

Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf slipped to 35th and 59 positions respectively. On the contrary, Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Agha dropped to 69th place.

DUBAI: New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell on Wednesday surpassed Virat Kohli to claim the No.1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings.

The 34-year-old now sits in the top position with 845 ranking points, replacing Kohli, who drops to the second spot with 795 points.

Kohli’s stay at the top was short-lived, having held the position for just a week despite an impressive series against New Zealand.

The Hamilton-born batting all-rounder rose to the top spot on the back of his stellar series against India, where he amassed 352 runs across three games, hence playing a vital role in the BlackCaps first ODI series win on Indian soil.

In the final game, Daryly Mitchell put on a batting masterclass, scoring 137 from 131 deliveries, which propelled his side to a massive 337-run total.

Notably, Mitchell’s tally of 352 runs is the highest ever by a Kiwi player in a three-match ODI series and the third highest of all time.

Only Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who amassed 360 runs against the West Indies in 2016, and India’s Shubman Gill, who scored 360 runs against New Zealand in 2023, sit above him on the list.

Besides Mitchell and Kohli, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran climbed to third place, replacing Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, there were no major changes for Pakistan players in the overall rankings.

Saim Ayub regains top spot in ICC T20I All-Rounder Rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan opening batter Saim Ayub has reclaimed the number one spot in the latest ICC T20I all-rounder rankings, following the team’s impressive performance in the home tri-series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

The 23-year-old, who scored 118 runs across five innings at a strike rate of 114.56 and picked up three wickets in four games, delivered strong performances in the final two matches, scoring 27 and 36 while taking a wicket in each.

These contributions, particularly in the decisive games, helped Ayub overtake Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza to reclaim the top spot with 295 rating points.

Raza, who briefly held the top ranking, is now second with 289 points.

Another standout performer for Pakistan was Mohammad Nawaz, whose all-round brilliance earned him both the Player of the Series and Player of the Match in the final.

Nawaz finished as the leading wicket-taker of the series with 10 scalps in five matches at an exceptional average of 10.20.

With the bat, he added 52 runs at a strike rate of 162.50, propelling him three places up to fourth in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings.

Nawaz also climbed two spots to 11th in the ICC T20I bowling rankings, while teammate Abrar Ahmed, who picked up six wickets in four matches, jumped four places to fourth.

Shaheen Afridi retained his 18th spot, Sufiyan Muqeem slipped four places to 32nd, and Salman Mirza advanced four places to 34th.

Saim Ayub made a significant leap in the bowling rankings as well, rising 12 places to 39th.

In the batting charts, Sahibzada Farhan, the highest run-scorer of the series with 191 runs at a 146.92 strike rate, dropped two spots to sixth after managing only 32 runs in the last two matches.

Babar Azam slipped one place to 30th, while Saim Ayub climbed two places to 35th.

Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha saw the biggest rise, jumping 11 spots to 52nd, whereas Mohammad Rizwan, currently absent from the T20I side, dropped eight places to 55th.

DUBAI: Pakistan top-order batter Saim Ayub has dethroned India’s Hardik Pandya to become the No. 1 all-rounder in the latest ICC T20I rankings, announced on Wednesday.

The southpaw who had a horror run with the bat in the recently concluded Asia Cup climbed the ladder after an impressive showing with the ball.

Saim only managed to score 37 runs in seven innings with four ducks to his name. On the contrary, he stood up with the ball when Pakistan needed him the most, picking up eight scalps in the same number of matches.

The 23-year-old climbed four spots to reach the summit position and now has 241 rating points, whereas Hardik Pandya, who missed the Asia Cup final due to fitness concerns, is now in second position with 233 points.

In batting, India’s Abhishek Sharma is in the top spot and now has the all-time highest ranking points. The southpaw who was named as the player of the tournament for his stellar run in the continental tournament has 931 rating points.

He has surpassed England’s David Malan, who achieved the best rating of 919 in 2020.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan has made massive strides and jumped 11 places to secure the 13th spot. The 29-year-old notched up two half-centuries against India and remained crucial in helping his team in reaching the final.

In the bowlers’ ranking, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi moved 12 spots to 13th place, while Faheem Ashraf has made a significant leap, moving up 26 places to 93rd position with 418 points.

India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy continues to hold the No.1 spot with 803 points.

DUBAI: Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings on Wednesday, capping off a remarkable year with his maiden No.1 spot.

The 34-year-old becomes only the third Indian bowler to achieve the milestone, joining Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi in the elite list.

Chakaravarthy, who cemented his place in India’s T20I setup over the past 12 months, leapfrogged New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy to secure the top position.

His consistency has been backed by notable performances, including a five-wicket haul against England earlier this year and tidy spells at the ongoing Asia Cup, where he has claimed two wickets from as many matches against the UAE and Pakistan.

The rankings update sees Duffy slip to second, West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein steady at third, and Australia’s Adam Zampa climbing to fourth.

Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara also surged six places to sixth, while India’s Kuldeep Yadav made a significant leap of 16 spots to 23rd.

On the batting front, Abhishek Sharma continues to lead the T20I rankings following his 31-run knock against Pakistan.

England’s Phil Salt and Jos Buttler trail closely in second and third, while South Africa’s Dewald Brevis (up to 11th) and Aiden Markram (up to 30th) also made gains.

Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka moved up to sixth, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz rose to 19th, and Shubman Gill entered the top 40.

Among all-rounders, Hardik Pandya retained his top spot, with Pakistan’s Saim Ayub (now joint-fifth) and Abhishek Sharma (14th) making significant progress.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan, who is also out of the side, is the second-best from the country, occupying 33rd spot.

Saim Ayub, who registered back-to-back ducks in the Asia Cup 2025, slipped to 46th place after dropping five spots, followed by Hasan Nawaz at 47th.

Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha dropped ten spots, slipping to 67th, and senior batter Fakhar Zaman slipped one place to 69th.

Sahibzada Farhan, who scored 40 off 44 against India, is the only Pakistan batter to make some gains as he jumped 18 places to 56th.

On the bowling front, spinners Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed made significant progress, moving up to the 11th and 16th spots, respectively.

In the batting charts, skipper Salman Ali Agha rose two spots to 57th with 505 rating points, while Fakhar Zaman enjoyed the biggest surge, jumping nine places to 68th.

However, no Pakistani batter features in the top 20.

Former mainstays Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who have been sidelined from T20Is since December 2024, slipped further down to 24th and 28th, respectively.

DUBAI: Pakistan spinner Sufiyan Muqeem has made significant strides in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, emerging as the country’s highest-ranked bowler.

The left-arm wrist spinner jumped 11 spots to claim 22nd position with 594 rating points.

Shaheen Afridi also enjoyed a boost, climbing eight places to 26th. In contrast, Haris Rauf slipped four spots to 28th, while Abbas Afridi dropped to 33rd.

Mohammad Nawaz recorded one of the biggest improvements, moving up 15 places to 43rd, while Abrar Ahmed and Shadab Khan fell to 66th and 81st, respectively.

New Zealand pacer Matt Henry retains the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings, with England’s Adil Rashid second and West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein third.

Sikandar Raza becomes No.1 ODI all-rounder in ICC Rankings

DUBAI: Zimbabwe’s veteran all-rounder Sikandar Raza has climbed to the top of the ICC Men’s ODI All-rounder Rankings for the first time in his career following a stellar performance against Sri Lanka.

The 39-year-old produced scores of 92 and an unbeaten 59, along with a wicket in the two-match ODI series in Harare, to leapfrog Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi, who now occupy second and third place, respectively.

The previous career-best ranking for Sikandar Raza was No.2 in December 2023.

Raza’s exploits with the bat also saw him surge nine spots to 22nd in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings, edging closer to his career-high of 24th set last year.

He further gained one position in the bowling charts, now sitting at 38th.

Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka, who emerged as the leading run-scorer with 198 runs and was named Player of the Series, jumped seven places to 13th among batters.

His teammate Janith Liyanage rose 13 places to 29th, while Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams moved up three places to 47th.

Elsewhere, Scotland’s George Munsey advanced to 34th after a match-winning 84 not out against Canada in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, and South Africa’s Tony de Zorzi climbed to 64th.

In the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj claimed the outright No.1 spot after his four-wicket haul against England in Leeds pushed him ahead of Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana.

England pacer Jofra Archer (up six places to 19th) and Lungi Ngidi (up five places to joint-23rd) also made notable progress.

Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando rose to 31st, while Dilshan Madushanka’s hat-trick and four for 62 in Harare lifted him from 60th to 52nd.

Pakistan’s players suffer decline in latest ICC Test rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan players have declined in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings as the cricket governing body released updated positions on Wednesday.

The national players’ fall in rankings was due to a lack of red-ball fixtures this year, as Pakistan is scheduled to play only a Test series against South Africa. The series will mark the beginning of Pakistan’s World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 campaign.

Among the players, Pakistan Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel slipped out of the top 10 batters’ rankings,  moving to 11th position with 739 rating points.

The wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan is now in 19th place after falling three places. Meanwhile, Babar Azam has retained his spot, holding firm in 22nd position with 651 points.

India’s Rishabh Pant, who scored centuries in each innings of the Headingley Test against England, rose one spot to claim sixth place.

Joe Root still holds the number one spot in Test cricket, followed by his compatriot Harry Brook and New Zealand’s stalwart Kane Williamson.

In the ICC Test rankings of bowlers, Noman Ali, Pakistan’s sole representative among the top 10 bowlers, slipped to fifth place. Right-arm leg spinner Abrar Ahmed has slipped one spot to 48th place, while pacer Khurram Shahzad has dropped two spots to 62nd, and all-rounder Aamer Jamal is now positioned at 70th.

India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah remained at the top of the bowling charts, followed by South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Pat Cummins.
