Pakistan’s Usman Wazeer knocks out India’s Eswaran in first round

BANGKOK: Pakistani boxer Usman Wazeer knocked out Indian opponent S. Eswaran in the first round of the highly anticipated bout here on Thursday, extending his unbeaten streak to 16-0.

Usman was too hot to handle for India’s Eswaran as he took just one minute and 41 seconds to deliver a TKO in the first round of their international ranking fight held at World Siam Stadium.

Usman, also known as ‘Asian Boy’, stepped into the ring with an unbeaten record of winning 15 matches in his career.

The Gilgit-Baltistan-born boxer floored Eswaran twice during the opening round, forcing the referee to step in and call an early end to the contest.

This marked Usman’s 16th victory, extending his unbeaten record in professional boxing.

Before the match, Usman Wazeer stated his intention to dedicate the victory to Pakistan and urged his fellow countrymen to pray for him.

“Just like before, I will dedicate this win in the international ranking fight to Pakistan. I request the entire nation to pray for my victory,” said Usman Wazeer.

The event in Thailand featured 15 fights in total, with Wazeer’s bout listed as No. 13.

Usman Wazeer previously knocked out India opponent Thehlak Selvam in the first round of the highly anticipated bout at the World Youth Boxing Championship held in September 2024. Wazeer delivered a technical knockout (TKO) in just one minute and five seconds.

Although his match is officially scheduled for 3:00 PM (PST), Wazeer mentioned that the actual timing might change based on how long the earlier fights last.

“If the earlier bouts finish sooner than anticipated, my fight could happen earlier than planned,” he explained in his message.

The event in Thailand will feature a total of 15 fights, with Wazeer’s bout listed as Fight No. 13.

BANGKOK: Pakistani boxer Usman Wazeer knocked out Indian opponent Thehlak Selvam in the first round of the highly-anticipated bout of the World Youth Boxing Championship here on Thursday.

Usman was too hot to handle for India’s Thehlak as he took just one minute and five seconds to deliver a TKO in the six-round welterweight bout, held at Space Plus boxing arena here.

Usman took control of the bout with early strikes which were so lethal that Thehlak was struggling to withstand and was visibly in severe pain. Usman seized the opportunity to deliver another strong strike, resulting in his opponent falling on the mat.

As a result, the referee, on technical grounds, declared Usman Wazeer the winner.

The victory was Usman’s 14th consecutive in professional boxing, indicating his dominance in the sport.

Earlier this year, Usman outclassed Thailand’s Jatsada Pithakdantha by TKO in the third round.

Usman has won several prestigious titles in his budding career including World Youth Title, Asian Title, and Middle East Title. He also boasts an astounding 71 per cent knockout ratio with the latest being his 10th in the professional career.

In his victory speech, Usman requested India’s Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and called for peace and harmony between the two neighbouring countries.

BANGKOK: Pakistani star boxer and Asian Champion Usman Wazeer outclassed his Thai opponent Somphot Seesa to win the WBO World Welterweight Youth title on Wednesday in the Highland Boxing Show in Bangkok.

Wazeer emerged triumphant after knocking out Seesa in a tough encounter that saw the two boxers go hard at one other for six rounds.

Following his remarkable title victory, the 22-year-old boxer has become the first Pakistani boxer to win the WBO World Youth title.

“Alhumdulillah, we finally made history and I am now the First Ever WBO World Youth Champion out of Pakistan,” Wazeer wrote on Twitter following his title victory.

Usman Wazeer announces to set up boxing academy in an orphanage

ISLAMABAD: Usman Wazeer, World Boxing Council (WBC) Middle East champion, announced to establish a boxing academy in a local orphanage within a month, here on Thursday.

Usman announced the establishment of a boxing academy during his visit to the orphanage while addressing at the ceremony.

“The boxing academy will train children under the supervision of domestic and foreign coaches,” Usman said.

“In the next six months, the athletes will be ready to represent Pakistan in a boxing event,” he added.

Usman while acknowledging the founder of the orphanage also announced to donate a part of his earning from his fights to the orphanage. Usman is also optimistic that the orphanage and the boxing academy will produce talented players in the future.

While addressing the ceremony, Usman also disclosed that he accidentally became a boxer as the Asian Boxing Champion used to be a footballer in his early days.
