Rashid Khan becomes No.1 T20I bowler after series win over Pakistan

DUBAI: Afghanistan captain and spinner Rashid Khan climbed to the top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings on Wednesday following his side’s maiden series victory against Pakistan.

Afghanistan had beaten Pakistan for the first time in a bilateral T20I series as they claimed the recently-concluded three-match series by 2-1.

A host of Afghanistan players got a boost in their T20I rankings including skipper Rashid Khan, who overtook Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga to become the No.1-ranked T20I bowler in the world for the second time.

The leg spinner rose to the top of the T20I bowlers chart for the first time in 2018 and has been a consistent performer in the shortest format of the game ever since.

According to the latest ICC rankings update, Rashid bagged the top position with 710 rating points, 15 points clear of second-ranked Hasaranga.

“The right-armer collected a wicket in each of the three matches against Pakistan in Sharjah, with his miserly economy rate in both of Afghanistan’s victories during the first two games of the series a standout,” said ICC in a media release.

Meanwhile, Rashid’s teammate Fazalhaq Farooqi leapfrogged staggering 12 spots to third overall on the latest rankings update. The left-arm pacer starred with a total of five wickets and an economy rate of just 4.75 during the series.

“It means Afghanistan now have three players inside the top 10 of the T20I category for bowlers, with spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman rounding out the talented trio in eighth spot following his four wickets for the series against Pakistan,” added ICC statement.

On the other hand, Pakistan stand-in skipper Shadab Khan was also duly rewarded for his impressive bowling in the three games. He jumped eight places to fourth on the T20I all-rounder rankings and improved six spots to 12th overall on the list for bowlers.

Meanwhile, Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam, who was rested for the three T20Is, dropped one place to fourth on the T20I batter’s ranking as a result.

Yadav retains top spot, Babar moves to third in T20I Batting Rankings

DUBAI: India’s hard-hitting batter Suryakumar Yadav retained the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, while Pakistan captain Babar Azam jumped to the third rank in the latest rankings, announced on Wednesday.

Following his magnificent half-century against New Zealand in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup, Azam made significant raise in his ratings, which bolstered him to clinch the third spot.

Whereas, following a dismal show in the semi-final against Pakistan, New Zealand’s Devon Conway slipped a spot to take the fourth position.

Yadav, on the other hand, who became the No.1 T20I batter after a superb showing in the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, smashing three half-centuries in five innings managed to amass his career-best ratings of 869 points.

The right-handed batter’s ratings, however, dropped to 859 points following his 14-run knock against England in the second semi-final.

Despite a dip in the rating points, Yadav managed to retain his top spot as the rest of the batters in his vicinity failed to produce an extraordinary knock.

Besides Yadav, Babar and Conway, Mohammad Rizwan and Aiden Markram are the remaining batters in the top five as the latter two managed to hold on to their second and fifth positions respectively.

In the bowling charts, England’s spinner Adil Rashid made a significant rise as the leg-spinner gained five spots to move up to No 3, while his compatriot Sam Curran jumped two spots to claim the fifth position.

Babar slips to fourth as Conway bags second spot in T20I rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has witnessed a further plunge in his T20I rankings as he exits the top three list after New Zealand batter Devon Conway ascended to the second spot in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Stadium (ICC) on Wednesday.

Opener Mohammad Rizwan retained the no 1 spot in the T20I batters’ list with 849 rating points although the Blackcaps opener has moved closer to the top billings with career-high 831 points.

Conway surged three spots from the fifth as he jumped past India’s Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistan captain and South Africa’s Aiden Markram.

The national team skipper now sits at the fourth position in the latest rankings with 799 rating points on the back of a dismal knock in the recently held nerve-wracking contest against arch-rivals India on Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Meanwhile, India’s Virat Kohli made giant strides in the latest T20I rankings with his glorious unbeaten knock of 82 off 53 which steered his side to victory on Sunday. His match-winning performance has placed him back into the top 10 as he secured the ninth position on the list.

Babar jumps to No.3, Rizwan retains top spot in latest T20I rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam has regained the third spot on the T20I batter’s rankings, which he lost just a week ago, thanks to his brilliant century in the second T20I against England.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan has tightened his grip on the No.1 spot as he surged to 861 rating points following his sublime form in the ongoing T20I series between Pakistan and England.

According to the latest released rankings by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday, Babar has once again etched his name in the top three on the batter’s list with 799 rating points.

India’s Suryakumar Yadav edged past Babar with a difference of just two rating points as he jumped to the No.2 after his scintillating 69 off 36 in the third T20I against Australia.

However, the recent reshuffle in the batting charts propelled South Africa’s Aiden Markram to lose his No.2 spot as he slipped to the fourth position.

In the bowlers’ rankings, Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf improved his standings as he jumped seven spots and secured 14th place after his impressive bowling in the ongoing T20I series against England.

Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, however, retained the top slot on the T20I bowler’s list followed by South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi in the second spot.

Suryakumar overtakes Babar to bag third spot in latest T20I rankings

DUBAI: Following his recent slump with the bat, Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam lost his spot to India’s Suryakumar Yadav on the latest ICC T20I rankings.

Babar witnessed a further drop in his rankings as he slipped to the fourth while the Indian middle-order batter surpassed the Pakistan skipper to claim the third spot with 780 rating points, according to the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday.

Wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan, on the other hand, stayed at the No.1 spot with a career-high 825 rating points, followed by South Africa’s Aiden Markram on the second with 792 points.

Babar’s sudden plunge on the T20I batters’ list is attributed to a below-par performance in the Asia Cup 2022. Although, he managed 31 off 24 in the series opener against England on Tuesday.

Pakistan skipper retained the No.1 spot for 1155 days- most by any batter in T20Is – before he was replaced by Rizwan earlier this month.

DUBAI: After his dismal run in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam dropped to the third spot on the latest ICC T20I rankings while wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan retained his top position.

Babar lost his spot to South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who claimed second place on the T20I batters’ list with 792 rating points while the stylish Paksitani batter plunged to 771 points, according to the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council on Wednesday.

Rizwan, on the hand, stayed at the No.1 spot with 810 rating points after being the top scorer in the Asia Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, the other top performers of the event, Indian star-batter Virat Kohli and Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, made giant strides in the rankings.

Kohli jumped 14 spots to secure the 15th position on the T20I batters’ rankings as he regained his form during the Asia Cup, scoring 276 runs in the tournament including a brilliant century against Afghanistan that ended his three-year wait for the 71st international ton.

Hasaranga’s heroic performances for the winning team earned him a fourth position on the all-rounder rankings and sixth on the bowlers’ list.

Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi lost his top spot as Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan overtook him to become the new No.1 T20I all-rounder.

Rizwan overtakes Babar to clinch top spot in T20I rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has surpassed the skipper Babar Azam to become the new No.1 ranked T20I batter in the world after the latter retained the top spot for 1155 days.

According to the latest released rankings by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, Rizwan has scaled to the top of the T20I rankings for the very first time in his career with 815 points, thanks to his sublime form in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, where he has amassed 192 runs in 3 matches, including a scintillating 71-run knock against India on Sunday.

Rizwan became the third Pakistani batter to achieve the top rank in the T20Is as previously Mishah ul Haq and Babar were the only two Pakistani batters to do so.

Babar, on the other hand, lost the spot to his compatriot and opening partner as he slipped to the second position with 794 rating points. So far, Babar failed to impress with the bat in the ongoing tournament.

Babar’s stay at the top position was the longest by any batter in the T20I rankings.

Meanwhile, India’s Suryakumar Yadav slid to the fourth position as South Africa’s Aiden Markram claimed the third spot with 792 rating points.

Rizwan overtakes Yadav to reclaim second spot in T20I rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan surpassed India’s rising batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav to reclaim the second position in the T20I batters rankings.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) latest released rankings, Rizwan replaced Yadav in the second spot with 796 rating points on the back of his blistering 43-run knock against India on Sunday.

Pakistan’s all-format captain sits at top of the batters rankings with 810 rating points while Yadav slipped to the third with 792 points.

Meanwhile, India’s Hardik Pandya made giant strides in the T20I all-rounder rankings after his match-winning performance in the last game. He achieved his career-best rankings as he jumped eight places to the fifth position.

Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan ascended two spots to claim the third spot in the bowlers’ rankings with Australia’s Josh Hazelwood sitting at the top followed by South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi in second.

Yadav fails to dethrone Babar from top slot in T20I rankings

DUBAI: Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam retained the top spot in the T20I batters’ list as India’s Suryakumar Yadav failed to dethrone the Pakistan skipper despite his astonishing recent surge in T20I rankings.

According to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) latest released rankings Babar maintained the No.1 position in the T20I rankings. At the same time, Yadav lingered on the second with a difference of 13 rating points as he missed the final T20I match of the series against West Indies.

Meanwhile, Indian batter Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant made significant strides in the rankings following India’s 4-1 win in the five-match T20I series against West Indies. Iyer jumped six spots to 19th while Pant moved seven places to 59th.

Earlier, Yadav jumped three spots to displace Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan from the second position while posing a threat to Babar’s top rank as well.

The tense contest between Babar and Yadav for the top position will make the blockbuster Asia Cup 2022 clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on August 28 even more exciting for cricket fans in both countries.

Yadav’s surge in T20I rankings poses threat to Babar’s top slot

DUBAI: Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav leapt forward to claim the second spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings putting Pakitan’s skipper Babar Azam’s top position in danger.

According to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) latest released rankings, Yadav jumped three spots to second in the list of T20I batters on the back of his fine form with Babar just two rating points ahead of him.

The 31-year-old’s sublime form in the T20Is has also bolstered his chances to dethrone Babar from his spot as India still have two matches left of their ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies.

Whereas, Babar will only get a chance to feature in T20Is with the onset of the Asia Cup later this month.

Yadav’s sudden rise in the top ranks is attributed to his outstanding recent performances which included a blistering century against England in Nottingham last month followed by a phenomenal run in India’s current tour of West Indies where he has amassed 111 runs so far at a strike rate in excess of 168.
