KARACHI: Former Indian international cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised the Pakistan team for outplaying India by 10 wickets to win their first-ever match against arch-rivals in T20 World Cup.
Speaking to Indian tv, Harbhajan said he had never seen such a performance by the Pakistan team against India.
“I have never seen a Pakistan team playing like they did yesterday. They were phenomenal and outclassed India in all three departments,” the Indian cricketer-cum-analyst said.
Harbhajan applauded Pakistani openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for making it a one-sided contest for their team.
“Babar and Rizwan were on the mark. They batted brilliantly and played proper cricketing shots throughout. Especially Babar, he is exceptional and leading Pakistan from the front,” he maintained.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan suggested some changes to the Indian team for upcoming matches. “I think they should bring in Ishan Kishan at the top-order, pushing KL Rahul at number 4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar should be out,” he was quoted saying.
DUBAI: Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam’s father was broken into tears of happiness after Pakistan clinched their first-ever T20 World Cup victory against India on Saturday here at Dubai International Stadium.

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s chairman Ramiz Raja congratulated the national team for winning T20 World Cup contest against arch-rivals India by 10 wickets.
While joining the nationwide celebration, the PCB chairman took to Twitter to back up the national players for clinching their first-ever T20 World Cup match against India.
“Alhamdolillah. It’s the first one, the most magnificent one but remember journey has just begun.. such a proud moment for all Pakistanis and thank you boys for providing us this moment to cherish,” he wrote.
Pakistanis were waiting for a long time to watch their team beat arch-rivals India in a World Cup contest. It happened today at Dubai International Stadium when Babar and Rizwan helped the green shirts chase down 152 runs with 13 balls to spare and 10 wickets in hand.
It was India’s first 10-wickets defeat in T20Is and Pakistan’s first-ever victory with this margin in the shorter format.

Lahore: Pakistan men’s cricket team, under the leadership of Babar Azam, has left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play the upcoming mega ICC T20 World Cup, starting from October 17.
Before leaving for mega-event, Babar posted a message for Pakistan cricket lovers where he urged them to support Green Shirts.
“Off to UAE. Your support means more than anything. Stand by your team. Keep supporting. Keep praying. Keep believing,” Babar tweeted with a hashtag ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
It must be noted that Pakistan will play the first warm-up match on October 18 in Dubai against the West Indies. The second will take place on October 20 in Abu Dhabi against South Africa.

LAHORE: Pakistan’s 18-men contingent has left Pakistan for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to play the upcoming mega ICC T20 World Cup, starting from October 17.
Led by Babar Azam, the squad left Pakistan today at 12 pm from Allama Iqbal International Airport. All the players and supporting staff have cleared their COVID-19 tests here. They will be tested again on their arrival in Dubai after which they go in quarantine for a day.
Players are accompanied by their families as per allowed by the ICC for the extravaganza.
Earlier, the team did practice sessions and played scenario matches to prepare themselves for the mega event under the supervision of interim head coach Saqlain Mushtaq and bowling consultant Vernon Philander. Batting consultant Mathew Hayden will join the team in the UAE.
Lahore: Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam is upbeat ahead of the T20 World Cup as Green Shirts prepare to leave for UAE on October 15.
The 26-year-old talked to reporters in a virtual presser on a rest day and opined that his side is not bothered with the past results of Indo-Pak T20 World Cup matches.
“Belief matters the most while going into the tournament like World Cup, our confidence and morale is high as a team. We are not thinking what happened in the past and preparing for the new challenge which lies ahead,” he said.
“Focus is to gain momentum by beating India in the first game and take it forward,” he added.
Babar believes that senior players will add value to the team because of their experience. “Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik are match-winners and their experience will help us on the field, they have played many leagues,” he added.
Babar hailed the appointment of Matthew Hayden and Vernon Philander as consultant coaches for the mega event. “They are experienced and will try to benefit from them. Philander has been great with bowlers in the camp, it will be good if we understand each other quickly,” he added.
Pakistan, during the last decade, mostly played in UAE. Babar thinks it will give an advantage but on the day, which side plays better cricket will win.
It must be noted that the squad will play a practice tomorrow at the Gaddafi Stadium and will leave for UAE on October 15 at 11.00 am.
They will play the first warm-up match on October 18 in Dubai against the West Indies. The second will take place on October 20 in Abu Dhabi against South Africa.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam becomes the fastest and youngest cricketer in the world to score 7000 runs in T20 cricket.
As per the details, Babar scored match-winning runs for his team Central Punjab (CP) against Southern Punjab (SP) in the ongoing National T20 Cup. Meanwhile, the right-handed batter beat Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and three others to score the fastest 7000 runs T20s.
Babar took 187 innings to achieve this milestone followed by Gayle (192) and Kohli (212).
RAWALPINDI: Babar Azam remained not out for 59 as Central Punjab (CP) chased down 120 runs with seven wickets in hand against Southern Punjab (SP) in the 18th match of the National T20 Cup.
Babar stood calm despite a couple of wickets on his other end and took his team to a comfortable chase in the end within 18 overs.
It was Hassan Ali who starred in the show with the bowl. He took four wickets to help CP bowl out SP for 119 in 18.4 overs. Faheem Ashraf followed him and bagged three wickets to do the rest of the damage. Usman Qadir and Wahab Riaz took a scalp each.
For SP, Salman Ali Agha made 40 runs off 29 balls laced with five boundaries whereas Azam Khan fought hard to score 45 off 41 including three boundaries and as many maximums.
In reply, CP lost the opener, Ahmed Shahzad, earlier but Kamran Akmal and Babar made a solid platform for them to chase the target easily. They both added 64 runs together with Kamran contributing 28 including three boundaries.
Hassan Khan and Naseem Shah managed to take a wicket each for SP.
