Former captain lauds Sahibzada Farhan’s ‘body language’ against Bangladesh

Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has praised Sahibzada Farhan after his match-winning knock in the third T20I against Bangladesh, but expressed disappointment over the national team’s overall body language.

Pakistan achieved a consolation victory in the third match after Bangladesh won the series 2-0 by claiming victories in the first two games.

Farhan, included in the line-up for the third T20I, took advantage of this opportunity by scoring 63 runs off 41 balls, with six fours and five sixes, leading Pakistan to a total of 178-7.

The Green Shirts successfully defended the score with disciplined bowling, as they bowled Bangladesh out for 104 runs in 16.4 overs.

After Pakistan’s victory, Ramiz Raja praised Farhan for delivering a remarkable innings under pressure that contributed to the team’s success.

“Sahibzada Farhan played an outstanding innings. He showed fearlessness and a positive mindset throughout,” Ramiz said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“The reason he was able to perform this way was because he was not burdened by the fear of failure.”

The former PCB chairman said Farhan’s confident approach should serve as an example for other players in the squad.

“Farhan stabilised the innings and proved that even after sitting out two matches, one can come in and deliver if the mindset is right. His body language was strong, and he looked assured from the start,” he said.

However, Ramiz Raja didn’t hold back from highlighting the team’s lacklustre attitude on the field, noting that apart from a few players, the team looked visibly under pressure.

“Apart from Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Nawaz, the rest of the players looked nervous. Their body language didn’t reflect confidence or control,” he noted.

He also had a word of advice for Mohammad Haris, questioning his technique and approach at the crucial No. 3 position.

“Haris seems to be in a rush. He tries to hit every ball and appears unsettled at the crease. If he wants to succeed at No. 3, he must improve his shot selection and composure. I’ve personally told him this before,” Ramiz concluded.

Salman Ali Agha hails team effort after dominant win against Bangladesh

MIRPUR: Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha praised team spirit following a consolatory win in the third T20I against Bangladesh here at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

Bangladesh fell short of the 179-run target in the third T20I, eventually bunding out for a modest 104-run total in 16.4 overs. Despite the outcome, the Tigers won the T20I series 2-1 against Pakistan for the first time.

The home side lost half of the side in the powerplay, courtesy of outstanding bowling from Pakistan’s pacer, particularly Salman Mirza, who picked up three wickets.

For Bangladesh, Mohammad Saifuddin was the only silver lining in an otherwise dismal batting display. The all-rounder who returned to the fold after missing out for more than a year remained unbeaten and scored 35* off 34 balls.

For Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan dazzled with 63 off 41, striking five sixes and six boundaries, while Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz’s contributions lower down the order propelled them to an imposing total.

“The way Sahibzada batted was outstanding, heartening, and pleasing to see, Saim as well. ´First six overs, they put us ahead.

“Hasan batted really well, and Nawaz played an outstanding cameo. Salman was outstanding, took wickets upfront, and the way Dani (Daniyal) bowled, very happy with them,” Salman Ali Agha concluded.

Pakistan avoid series whitewash, win third T20I against Bangladesh

MIRPUR: Sahibzada Farhan’s sparkling knock, followed by Salman Mirza’s impressive three-wicket haul, helped Pakistan to manage a consolation victory in the third T20I against Bangladesh here at the Shere-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

Set to chase a 179-run target, Bangladesh was bundled out for 104 in only 16.4 overs, resulting in a 74-run win for Pakistan, which averted a series sweep.

Despite the outcome, Bangladesh clinched the three-match series 2-1 against Pakistan for the first time.

In pursuit of an uphill task, Bangladesh’s top-order crumbled in front of Pakistan’s pace bowlers. The home side lost half of their side in the power play for 25 runs, a situation similar to which the visitors faced in the second T20I.

The Tigers lost Tanzid Hasan for a golden duck on the second ball of the first over. Skipper Litton Das (8) and experienced Mehidy Hasan Miraz (9) were also removed in quick succession as the home side were reduced to 22-3 in only 3.4 overs.

Pakistan wreaked havoc in the opening overs, and Bangladesh were in dire straits in the fifth over when Salman Mirza cleaned up Jaker Ali (1) and Mahedi Hasan for a golden duck in the span of two balls.

Bangladesh continued to lose wickets in heaps with no significant contribution from the home side’s middle and lower order. The home side was once reeling at 81-9 in 14.5 overs; however, top-scorer Mohammad Saifuddin’s lusty blows helped them cross the 100-run mark.

The whole team was eventually bowled out for a modest score. Saifuddin remained unbeaten on 35* from 34 deliveries with the aid of two fours and the same number of sixes.

For Pakistan, Salman Mirza starred with the ball, taking a three-wicket haul for 19 in his quota of four overs while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz scalped two wickets in an all-round bowling effort.

Sahibzada Farhan was named as the Player of the Match for his impressive knock, whereas Jaker Ali clinched the Player of the Series award for his outstanding performances.

Earlier, Sahibzada Farhan’s blazing 63 runs and Hasan Nawaz’s 33 propelled Pakistan to a commanding 178-run total against Bangladesh in the third T20I here at the Shere-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

Put into bat first, Pakistan’s openers established a brisk 82-run stand, with Sahibzada Farhan taking on the core aggressor role while Saim Ayub played second fiddle.

The Green Shirts ended their power play on 57-0 with Farhan, playing his first game of the series, taking Taskin Ahmed to cleaners, accumulating 15 runs of the over with the help of two fours and a six.

Sahibzada carried on the momentum and reached his half-century in the process. Saim’s scratchy knock ended after smashing Nasum Ahmed for a six in the eighth over. The left-handed batter managed to score 21 off 15 balls with the aid of a six and two fours.

Following the wicket, Bangladesh applied brakes on Pakistan’s scoring with a couple of quite overs. The pressure eventually resulted in top-scorer Farhan’s wicket as the visitors were reduced to 97-2 in 12 overs.

Farhan’s dazzling 63 off 41 was laced with five maximums and half a dozen fours. Meanwhile, Mohammad Haris was unable to capitalize on a solid platform. His sluggish 5 off 14 balls was ended by Taskin Ahmed.

In the last phase of the innings, Bangladesh struck at regular intervals, but Hasan Nawaz’s 33 off 17 and Mohammad Nawaz’s 27 off 16 peppered with boundaries was enough to take Pakistan to a strong total.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed picked up three wickets while Nasum Ahmed bowled an economical spell and took two wickets.

Former captain questions Babar, Rizwan’s abrupt Pakistan T20I exclusion

Former women’s team captain Sana Mir has expressed concerns over the decision to exclude Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan from Pakistan’s T20I side.

Expressing her views during a sports show, Mir highlighted the national team’s inconsistent decisions

“Your main team comes under pressure when you corner players through forced selections,” she said.

“When we suggested that maybe one of them should come in between, that didn’t happen. And then suddenly, both were rested or dropped,” she added.

Sana Mir stated that the decision to drop the senior duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan has added pressure on the team.

“Now, the pressure of that decision has shifted onto this team. There’s a need to justify somehow that team selection by proving that they [Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan] are not part of the team because they did not play modern-day cricket, and that these players do.

So the entire burden has now fallen on this current team, whether they accept it or not,” Sana Mir concluded.

For the unversed, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in the second T20I by eight runs a day earlier in Dhaka, clinching their first-ever series in the format against Green Shirts.

Pakistan demonstrated a shambolic batting display, losing half of their side in the powerplay. However, Faheem Ashraf provided late resistance with a gusty half-century, but it was not enough as the hosts sealed a memorable win.

Salman Ali Agha reflects on Pakistan’s series loss to Bangladesh

MIRPUR: Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha remained optimistic and praised his players for demonstrating fighting spirit despite Green Shirts’ eight-run defeat in the second T20I against Bangladesh here on Tuesday.

Chasing a challenging 134-run total on a tricky surface, Pakistan were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs.

With a narrow defeat in the second T20I of a three-match series, Bangladesh won the T20I series against Pakistan for the first time.

Speaking in the post-match presentation, Salman Agha rued losing early wickets, noting that they could have restricted Bangladesh.

“The way we started bowling in the power play, we could have gotten like 10 fewer runs, but that’s the way cricket goes. But 130 was what we thought we had under control, but the way we batted in the power play, I think that needs to be improved,” he said.

The skipper also praised debutant Ahmed Daniyal, who scored a valiant 17-run knock alongside Salman Mirza, who took two wickets and impressed in only his second international game.

“They [Daniyal and Salman] both bowled really well. Salman bowled really well in both games, and then Daniyal came in this game and bowled outstandingly well. And he batted really well as well. He almost took the game away from them, but yeah, they are one for the future,” he said.

Highlighting the top-order woes, Salman remained optimistic, lauding the team’s spirit to take the game deep. He further credited Faheem Ashraf for scoring a vital knock which nearly took Pakistan home in the chase.

“We want to bat well as a top order, and this is something we need to look at. And then, 15-5, and then bringing that game to that deep is just outstanding. The way Faheem batted. I think it’s outstandingly well; he almost took the game away from them, but that’s how cricket goes,” Salman Ali Agha said.

“We don’t want to give up. This is what we are bringing to this team. We don’t want to give up no matter what situation we are in.

We always think we can win the game. And that belief is in our team now, and the way we played after, like, 15-5, I think, is outstanding, ” he concluded.

Bangladesh survive Faheem Ashraf scare to clinch T20I series against Pakistan

MIRPUR: Bangladesh edged past Pakistan by eight runs to seal the T20I series, overcoming a late surge from Faheem Ashraf, whose gritty knock threatened to turn the tide in the second T20I of the three-match series here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing a challenging 134-run total on a tricky surface, Pakistan were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs.

With this victory, Bangladesh clinched a T20I series for the first time against Pakistan.

Pakistan started poorly in the chase, losing half of the side in the first five overs. Saim Ayub (1) was run out, followed by Mohammad Haris, who was trapped in front for a golden duck in the second over.

Fakhar Zaman was also removed for eight while Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz were out without troubling the scorers as the home side reduced Green Shirts for 15-5 in only 4.4 overs.

Following the shambolic batting display from the top order, Salman Ali Agha and Khushdil Shah attempted to stabilize the innings; however, their 15-run partnership took 28 balls, increasing the required run rate.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha perished after a sluggish knock of 9 runs off 23 balls while Khushdil could only manage to score 13 off 18 balls.

With Pakistan at 47-7 in 11.5 overs, Bangladesh’s victory was only a matter of time, until Faheem Ashraf’s resistance with the lower order.

The left-handed batter first forged a 41-run partnership with Abbas Afridi, who managed to score 17 with the aid of two sixes and four, bringing the score to 88 in 16.1 overs.

After Abbas’s removal, he put on another partnership of 33 runs with debutant Ahmed Daniyal. With 28 required off 12 balls, both batters took leg-spinner Rishad Hossain to the cleaners, accumulating 15 runs of the over.

However, Rishad cleaned up Faheem on the last ball to leave the equation at 13 from 6 balls. Ahmed Daniyal smashed a four on the first delivery, but he was out on the very next ball, giving Bangladesh a memorable series-clinching win.

Faheem Ashraf top-scored with 51 off 32 balls, with the help of four boundaries and an equal number of sixes, while Daniyal struck three fours in his valiant 17-run knock.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler, taking three wickets, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mahedi Hasan supported him well with two wickets apiece.

Jaker Ali was named as the player of the match for his impressive knock.

Earlier, all-round bowling effort from Pakistan booked Bangladesh for a meagre total.

Put into bat first, Bangladesh were bowled out for 133 on the last ball of the penultimate over, courtesy of an impressive bowling display from Pakistan.

Pakistan capitalized on the decision to bowl first, removing Bangladesh’s opener Mohammad Naim (3) in only the second over.

The Green Shirts were on the mark in the opening three overs, giving away only 14 runs, which restricted Tigers from scoring big amid the fielding restrictions.

However, Faheem Ashraf’s fourth over leaked 11 runs as Parvez Hossain Emon struck him for a six and four to take Bangladesh to 25-1. Consequently, it was Salman Mirza’s two-wicket fifth over that jolted back the home team.

The left-arm pacer first removed Bangladesh’s skipper Litton Das (8) on the first ball of the over, followed by the removal of Towhid Hridoy, who was run out courtesy of Salman Ali Agha’s direct hit from mid-off.

At the end of the powerplay, Bangladesh were 28-4 with previous match half-centurion Parvez Hossain Emon (13 off 14 deliveries) giving his wicket away.

The early wickets put Bangladesh in dire straits. A similar situation occurred to Pakistan in the opening T20I of the series.

However, a gutsy 53-run partnership between Jaker Ali and Mahedi Hasan lifted Bangladesh out of trouble, bringing the score to 81 in the 13th over.

Mahedi’s 33 off 25 balls featured two sixes and two fours. Following the partnership, the wickets continued to tumble in quick succession.

Meanwhile, Jaker Ali batted till the end, ensuring Bangladesh reached a decent total. His 55-run knock was laced with five sixes and a four.

For Pakistan, it was an all-round bowling effort. Abbas Afridi, Ahmed Daniyal, and Salman Mirza picked up two wickets each while Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf managed to scalp one apiece.

Pakistan likely to include THIS player in Playing XI for second Bangladesh T20I

MIRPUR: Pakistan team management is likely to make one change to their Playing XI for the second T20I against Bangladesh, scheduled to be played later today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Reports indicate that left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem may be added to the lineup, potentially replacing either all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz or mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed.

Mike Hesson labels Mirpur pitch as ‘unacceptable’ for international cricket

MIRPUR: Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson has called the Shere Bangla National Stadium pitch ‘unacceptable’ after his side’s seven-wicket defeat against Bangladesh here on Sunday.

Bangladesh convincingly defeated Pakistan in the opening match of the T20I series, skittling them out for 110 runs in 19.3 overs.

Following the match, Hesson commented on the pitch’s nature, remarking that the surface was not suitable for preparation. of the Asia Cup and the World Cup

“I think (the pitch) is not ideal for anybody. Teams are trying to prepare for the Asia Cup or the (T20) World Cup. It is not acceptable. It is still no excuse for some of the decisions we made with the bat. But this pitch is not up to international standards,” he remarked.

Hesson, who is on his first assignment with the Pakistan team, emphasized Fakhar Zaman’s knock, noting that it provided a litmus test of the surface.

Follow us on our Official WhatsApp channel

“We got off to a little bit of a flyer. Fakhar Zaman played four or five shots. It gave us a false indication about how the surface was playing,” Mike Hesson elaborated.

“We didn’t help ourselves through the middle. We chose some poor options. When the ball started to nip through, and bounced steeply, we probably didn’t assess that it was a bit more challenging to play high-risk shots. Couple of run-outs also didn’t help,” he observed.

Mike Hesson praised the pitches prepared during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), stating that good wickets help nurture players.

“You need good cricket wickets to develop cricketers. There was some good wickets during the BPL, to be fair. It is not up to the standard when international cricket is being played,” he stated.

The head coach highlighted the importance of good team performance despite topsy-turvy surface.

“I don’t think it helps them when they leave Bangladesh. But I think also batting first in these situations is challenging.

When you aren’t quite sure whether 100 or 130 or 150 is good enough. I don’t think (the pitch) is good for anybody. It still doesn’t take away the fact that you have to perform better in any surface. We will look at it as a team,” Mike Hesson concluded.
