Pakistan finish third in the Imam Reza International Athletics Cup 2022

MASHHAD: Pakistani athletes shone brightly in the recently-concluded Imam Reza International Athletic Cup 2022 as the country finished third in the tournament.

Pakistan, which participated in the international tournament with a brief contingent of four players bolstered the country to claim the third position overall as all the athletes put on combined effort and took the nation’s tally to six.

Pakistani sprinter Abdul Mueed Baloch bagged silver in the 400m race after setting a national record. He then again got his hands on the medal as he claimed Bronze in the 200m category.

Mueed’s counterpart Shajar, on the other hand, was even more impressive as he claimed gold and bronze in the 200m and 400m races respectively.

Pakistan’s Javelin thrower Muhammad Yasir also displayed his ability as he threw his javelin for a record distance to bag gold for his country. Another athlete Sharoz Khan, gave it his all as he claimed a silver in the High Jump.

Mueed and Shajar bagged two each, while Sharoz and Yasir claimed one apiece as Pakistan finished the tournament with six medals – earning the country third position.

Pakistani athletes travel back after successful run in Imam Reza Cup

LAHORE: Pakistan athletics team received a warm reception from the officials of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) upon their arrival in the country after bagging five medals including two golds in the recently concluded Imam Reza International Cup held at Mashhad, Iran.

Pakistani athletes – Muhammad Yasir and Shajar Abbas, who shone in the recently held Athletic Cup by winning a gold medal apiece in the Javelin and 200-metres race, respectively in the event. received a warm welcome by the PSB and AFP officials here.

Sharoz Khan and Abdul Mueed Baloch, on the other hand, bagged a silver each in the High Jump and 400-metres race, respectively. Furthermore, Mueed also claimed a bronze medal in the 200m race.

The victorious athletes were welcomed by the PSB’s assistant director Mohammad Khalid along with other board officials and athletes.

Shajar, Yasir bag Gold for Pakistan in the Imam Reza Cup

MASHHAD: Pakistani sprinter Shajar Abbas bagged a gold medal in the 200m race category while Muhammad Yasir claimed the medal in the javelin to take Pakistan’s tally to five in the ongoing Imam Reza International Athletics Tournament.

The 200m race category in the tournament, was majorly dominated by the Pakistani athletes as Shajar and Abdul Mueed Baloch claimed the gold and bronze medal respectively.

Shajar finished the 200m track in 20.91 seconds while Mueed did it a mere half-second late (21.41).

Earlier in the tournament, Mueed claimed the silver medal in the 400m category as he finished the track in 46.73 seconds. He also set a national record for the quickest 400-meter run.

Yasir, on the other hand, starred in the Javelin as he threw the spear furthest in the final 74.83 meters and bagged the goal for the country.

Following the amazing performances of the Pakistani athletes, the country’s overall tally of the medals has reached to five.
