‘Cricket mere liye sab kuch hai’ confident Rizwan on a mission for Pakistan

SHARJAH: Stand-out performer in Pakistan vs India contest, Mohammad Rizwan tells his philosophy which took him from nowhere to one of the finest cricketers in Pakistan team right now.

In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Rizwan told three things ‘Practice, Performance, Honesty’ made him what he is today.

“I always believed in three things, Performance, Practice, and Honesty. These three things describe me and help me excel on the ground,” he shared.

Rizwan

“I plan the toughest practice sessions for myself as said by one of my mentors, Inzamam-ul-Haq. The tough you practice, the more you perform. Performance is something that keeps you in the run. And, honesty is what our religion teaches us. Honesty in practice and everything you do, takes you at higher level,” he explained.

Rizwan said cricket is his passion and everything in his life. “Cricket mera Junoon hai. Cricket mere liye sab kuch hai [Cricket is my passion, Cricket is everything for me],” he said.

It must be noted here that Rizwan played an anchor role for Pakistan in their 10-wickets victory against India, which was their first-ever victory in T20 World Cup against the arch-rivals.

‘Ready to serve Pakistan team in any capacity’ Rizwan

LAHORE: Wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan doesn’t care about the role in the national team, he only wants to contribute where and when needed.

While responding to a journalist in a virtual conference, Rizwan said he is ready to move his batting number if the team requires it.

“I am ready to move wherever the team wants me to. Even, I am ready to play as an off-spinner, fast bowler, or just a fielder. I always want to contribute to the team when and where needed,” Rizwan said when asked about openers being dropped due to him.

While talking about playing the first ICC event for Pakistan, Rizwan said he is excited and mentally prepared to take up the challenge. “See, even when you play club cricket, you get yourself completely ready for it. So, it is World Cup, now the preparations will be of a high standard,” he said.

‘A youngster should be the backup for Rizwan in shorter format’ Moin

KARACHI: Former Pakistani captain Moin Khan thinks that national team management should carry a youngster instead of Sarfaraz Ahmed as a backup for in-form Mohammad Rizwan in the shorter format.
Speaking to ARY News exclusively, Khan said Sarfaraz had a great career but Rizwan is currently in top form so there is a need to groom a young wicket-keeper batsman in his presence.
“No doubt, Sarfaraz had a great career on his back but currently Rizwan is playing outstandingly. I think Sarfaraz should be a permanent part of the Test team following his immense experience and a youngster should be brought in as a backup for Rizwan in shorter format,” he stressed.

Azam Khan

Talking about his son Azam, who received a maiden call in the national T20 Squad, Khan said he has grown up and knows how to make his career. “I treat him like a coach in Quetta Gladiators’. I scold him for his betterment and I want him to make the most of his exciting talent,” he said.
“I hope he makes a powerful entry at the international stage and tries to lift up the country’s flag higher,” a confident father said.

T20 World Cup

The former cricketer said a tournament like Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a complete platform for players to prove themselves. “All the players have full chance to prove their worth and make their case stronger for the national team. PSL comes as an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and impress,” he shared.
“Positive pressure is good and players should take it. If they will not take that pressure, they will not perform. It is simple, if you perform, you get a chance to represent Pakistan,” he concluded.
