Nida Dar becomes leading wicket-taker in T20Is

CAPE TOWN: Pakistan all-rounder Nida Dar surpassed West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed’s record of 125 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20 internationals.

Veteran Dar achieved the remarkable feat when she took the wicket of England captain Heather Knight in the Women’s T20 World Cup Group 2 match in Cape Town on Tuesday.

She now has 126 T20I wickets to his credit – the most by any bowler in the shortest format.

Despite Dar’s praise-worthy accomplishment, she conceded 47 runs in her four overs as  England completely dominated Pakistan bowlers in the game and scored a massive 213/5 – the highest total by any team in T20 World Cups.

It may be noted here that Pakistan are already eliminated from the mega event after losing two games – against India and West Indies – in the group stage.

England and India confirmed the semifinal spots from Group B, leaving today’s encounter a dead rubber.

Muneeba Ali, Nida Dar achieve career-best T20I rankings

Pakistan women’s cricketers Nida Dar and Muneeba Ali achieved career-high numbers in the ICC T20I players’ rankings following their record-breaking performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Although Pakistan fail to progress into the semifinal stage of the tournament, Dar and Muneeba made record feats during the event.

Muneeba scored 102 not out against Ireland on February 15 to become the first T20I centurion of Pakistan while Dar levelled with West Inides’ Anisa Mohammad as the joint-leading wicket-taker in T20 internationals.

In the latest rankings updates by the ICC, Muneeba jumped 10 places to a career-best 64th position on the T20I batters’ list.

Veteran Dar also moved two places on the all-rounders’ list to reach a new career-high mark.

It may be noted here that Dar has an opportunity to breach the 125 wickets mark and go past Anisa when Pakistan face England in their last match of the T20 megaevent today.

Nida Dar becomes joint-highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is

Pakistan all-rounder Nida Dar equalled West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed’s record of 125 wickets to become the joint-leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20 internationals.

Veteran Dar achieved the remarkable feat during Pakistan’s narrow defeat against West Indies in the Women’s T20 World Cup Group 2 match in Paarl on Sunday. She took two wickets for 13 runs in her four overs to level the record.

Nida Dar achieves career-high ranking in ODIs

DUBAI: Pakistan’s experienced all-rounder Nida Dar got the reward of her consistent performances in the ODIs as she achieved her career-high rankings after the latest update by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Following a gritty half-century against Australia in the first ODI, Dar has achieved a career-high ninth rank in the all-rounder rankings with 225 rating points, while she also jumped four places to clinch the 35th spot in the batting rankings.

Notably, Dar scored 59 off just 88 balls, hitting five fours and a six. However, her all-round efforts were not enough as Pakistan succumbed to a frustrating defeat against Australia in the first ODI.

“Dar’s efforts may not have been enough in the first ODI to overcome the hosts, who cruised to an eight-wicket win in Brisbane, but the 36-year-old showed why she remains as the only Pakistan women’s player to sit in a top-ten spot across the three ODI ranking classifications,” said ICC in a press release.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan will take on Australia in the second ODI of the ongoing series on Saturday.
