BUCKINGHAMSHIRE: The American pool player Shane Van Boening has beaten Albin Ouschan to win the recently concluded World Pool Championship, here on Sunday.
The 38-years-old pool player managed to seal the first world championship and became only the first American to lift the title after his countryman Earl Strickland in 2002.
Van Boening displayed a dominant performance; wrapping up the final with 13-6
to claim his maiden world title. The American cueist left his Australian counterpart Ouschan with very few opportunities.
Ouschan, who was attempting to emulate Earl Strickland and become only the second player in history to defend his title and win it three times, fell short as Van Boening proved unstoppable.
The victory puts Van Boening in a strong position to retain his spot in the Team USA Mosconi Cup, this November 30-3 December in Las Vegas.

LLANDUDNO: The Australian cueist Neil Robertson has beaten his Scottish counterpart John Higgins 10-9 to win the Tour Championship 2022 title, here on Sunday.
Robertson pulled off an astonishing comeback to beat Higgins 10-9 and win the Tour Championship for the second year in a row.
Despite being 9-4 down in the final against Higgins, Robertson miraculously managed to defend the title he won a year earlier.
In the opening frame, Robertson pulled ahead after managing to win a thrilling 50-minute frame 78-77. The scottish cueist then extended the lead to 3-0 after compiling 136 and 126 in the next two frames.
Robertson, on the other hand, also scored a century-plus clearance to find a response at the conclusion of the first interval to take the score to 3-1.
The Australian cueist fought back in the second session, winning the next two frames to level the scores at 3-3, only for Higgings to win the next two frames and take a two-frame lead, 5-3.
Higgins then carried on his positive momentum and won the next six out of the seven frames to go one frame away from the title (9-4).
Robertson, on the other hand, produced a comeback of his lifetime as he won all the remaining six frames to win the Tour Championship 2022 title 10-9.
It’s worth noting that with this triumph, Robertson has now won his 23rd ranking title.

LLANDUDNO: The Australian cueist Neil Robertson has beaten his English counterpart Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-9 to qualify for the Tour Championship final, here on Friday.
In an epic semi-final between the two experienced cueist, Robertson sealed the victory in the final frame; beating O’Sullivan by 10-9.
In the opening frame, Robertson pulled ahead with a break of 115, but O’Sullivan managed to claim the next three frames and took a 3-1 lead at the conclusion of the first session. The English cueist shone with successive breaks of 125, 90, and 106 to take control.
In the afternoon session, O’Sullivan carried on his wonderful run and extended his lead to 4-1 after a brilliant break of 128 in the fifth frame. Robertson, on the other hand, bounced back quickly and claimed the next three frames including successive breaks of 85 and 95 to level the scores at 4-4.
The next session followed the same pattern with O’Sullivan claiming the first frame only for Robertson to claim the next three to extend his lead to 7-5 at the interval.
After O’Sullivan cut the lead to a single frame, Robertson fired a 117 to pull within two frames of victory, only for O’Sullivan to react with a spectacular 100 clearance.
O’Sullivan then battled back from a 37-point deficit to level the match at 8-8 before closing in on a stunning victory with his fifth century of the match.
Robertson dominated the 18th frame with an 88-8 score to come one frame closer to the victory, before repeating the feat in the last to secure the final berth.

LAHORE: Australia’s middle-order batter Ben McDermott made Twitter erupt as the right-handed batter lost his wicket in a run-out against Pakistan for the fourth time.
McDermott, who has played five international matches against Pakistan has been run-out four times and Imad Wasim was the only Pakistani bowler, who managed to get his wicket once.
A user also wrote that “McDermott just loves getting run-out.”
It is pertinent to mention here that McDermott has been run-out in three consecutive T20Is against Pakistan when the Aussies played Pakistan in UAE in 2018.
Furthermore, the right-handed batter has been run-out only four times in his international career, all against the green shirts.

KARACHI: Karachi division defeated Mirpurkhas division by the scores of 6-2 to win the Sindh Inter-division Ringball championship 2022, here at YMCA Ringball Academy.
In the final of the tournament, Karachi lifted the trophy by defeating Mirpurkhas 6-2. Thus, the latter remained the runners-up of the event.
On the other hand, the Hyderabad division defeated the Larkana division by 7-1 to become the second runners-up.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Harry Charles from Karachi, who scored 17 shoots in the entire tournament, was adjudged as the best shooter, while Muhammad Ayaan of Mirpurkhas was awarded as the best defender player of the tournament.
On the other hand, Augustine Shehzad of Karachi was also awarded as the best centre player of the tournament.

KARACHI: The Sindh Inter-division Ringball championship 2022, organized by Sindh Ringball Association, rolled into action at YMCA Ringball Academy here today with Sukkur, Mirpurkhas, and Hyderabad securing the first-round victories.
In the first match after a glittering opening ceremony, Sukkur managed to beat National Ringball Academy YMCA Karachi in a thriller by the scores of 4-3.
After being down 0-3 in the first half, the side made a remarkable comeback with four shoots to clinch the triumph. Abdul Hannan remained the top performer for the side as he scored two shoots.
On the other hand, in the second match, Mirpurkhas sealed a convincing victory over the Larkana division by 6-2.
Larkana’s Subhan Abdullah shone with his brilliant performance as he scored four shoots.
In the third match of the championship, Hyderabad blunt the first match winner Sukkur by the scores of 11-0, thanks to Abdul Hannan, who led the way with eight shoots.
It’s worth mentioning that the inter-division ring ball championship got underway after a dazzling opening ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Sindh Olympic Association Secretary-General Ahmed Ali Rajput, Pakistan Ringball Federation Secretary-General Rasheed Gul, and Sindh Ringball Association Senior Vice President Afzal Bhatti.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s top batter and skipper Babar Azam has claimed several records to his name with a fighting century-knock against Australia under pressure.
With Babar’s most recent hundred, which came against Australia on the fourth day of the ongoing Karachi Test. The right-handed batter became only the third captain in the history of cricket to score a hundred in all three formats.
Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan and former South African captain Faf du Plessis were the first two captains to achieve this feat.
With his unbeaten century in the run chase against Australia, Babar has also become only the second batter in the history of world cricket to score a hundred in each format while chasing. India’s KL Rahul was the first batter to achieve this milestone.
The right-handed batter has also broken Younis’s record of the highest score by a Pakistan batter in the fourth innings. Younis scored 171* against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2015.
The ninth-ranked Test batter has tumbled Michael Atherton’s all-time world record of the highest score by a captain in the fourth innings (185) as Babar is currently unbeaten 187.
Furthermore, Babar has now surpassed Shoaib Malik’s record of playing the longest innings by a Pakistan batter in the fourth innings of a Test in terms of balls faced.
He has faced 371 balls so far in his gritty innings, while the previous best was Shoaib facing 369 deliveries.
With Babar’s splendid 228-runs partnership with Abdullah in the run chase against Australia. The pair have recorded the second-highest partnership in the fourth innings of a Test match in Asia. Pakistan’s Shan Masood and Younis Khan hold the record of the highest partnership with their 242-runs stand against Sri Lanka in 2015.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan need 148 more runs in 24 overs to seal the highest run chase in the history of Test cricket.

ANTALYA: World number three Judd Trump outclassed world number 31 Matthew Selt in the final of the inaugural Turkish Masters by 10-4 to claim his 24th ranking title, here on Sunday.
Selt, who upset Trump 6-3 when they last met in the third round of the UK Championship in November, went into a 2-1 lead in the first three frames.
Trump, however, was soon to respond as the world number three levelled the score with the help of a magnificent break of 120.
Trump subsequently grabbed control of the match, winning three of the next four frames before claiming a bizarre frame to go up 6-3.
Despite giving up 60 points in fouls, the 2019 world champion – Trump – won the bizarre frame 113-76 with an 88-point clearance. The total of 189 points was just three points short of the frame record of 192.
The former world champion then scored a maximum (147) in the 10th frame before winning the 11th to go up 8-3.
Selt, on the other hand, won a bitty 12th frame to pull one back and make it 8-4 to head into the interval, but Trump secured victory with breaks of 82 and 114.
With this victory, Trump has ended a barren run in ranking events lasting over a year.

NEWPORT: World number 42 Joe Perry stunned world number three Judd Trump in the final of the Welsh Open by 9-5 to claim his second ranking title, here on Sunday.
Perry, who last won a ranking title back in 2015, clinched his second by securing an emphatic victory over the world number three Trump.
The match comprises a total of 19 frames, saw a see-saw battle between the two English cueists with Perry pulling ahead and Trump levelling and vice-versa.
In the last frame of the afternoon session, Perry levelled the scores at 4-4 as Trump missed the opportunity to go 5-3 up by missing an uncharacteristic pink.
Perry then had a dream start to the evening session; scoring a 108 break, which was the first century of the final.
In the 10th frame, Trump then made the most of a fluke which assisted him to level the scores 5-5.
At the mid-session interval, Perry then took the lead by two frames after Trump misses a black at 17 points in the prior frame and Perry then produced a hard-won 68 break to strengthen his position.
In the 13th frame, Perry missed a long black and Trump looked to close the gap, but the latter made even more mistakes. As a result, Perry took advantage and extended his lead to 8-5.
With the momentum firmly in his favour, Perry then scored a 70 points break to clinch his second ranking title.

RAWALPINDI: According to the weather forecast, the first Test of the historic Benaud-Qadir Trophy between Pakistan and Australia can be hindered by rain.
As per the BBC weather forecast, the rain is likely to come into play during the historic Rawalpindi Test – starting from tomorrow.
The weather is foreseen to remain clear for the opening day of the first Test, while on the second day the prospects of rain are likely to go up by eight percent.
In addition, the third day of the Rawalpindi Test has the highest chance of rain, with a probability of up to 68 percent, as scattered showers are expected to pour between 11 AM and midnight.
Rain probability will then decrease to 16 percent on the fourth day, with only light showers and a gentle breeze passing over Rawalpindi Stadium. Whereas, on the fifth day, the stadium will be covered by light clouds.
It is apropos to mention here that Australia is touring Pakistan after a gap of 24 years. The touring side will play three Tests which will take place in Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi respectively. While the white-ball series which comprises three ODIs and one-off T20I will be played here.
