Falcon Waseem, Arsalan Ash, Anita Karim top achievers at PSA 2022

LAHORE: Eminent boxer Muhammad Waseem, female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Anita Karim and eSports sensation Arsalan Ash received top awards at the Pakistan Sports Awards (PSA) 2022, held here at the Punjab Gymnasium on Saturday. 

Amongst the 17 award categories, Waseem, famously known as Falcon Waseem, was named Sportsman of the Year while Arsalan received the Esports Athlete of the Year award at the exclusive event, hosted by Sports Board Punjab

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s sprint legend, Abdul Khaliq, who won 100 gold medals in the national games, 26 gold medals and 23 silver medals in the international games, received the Lifetime Achievement award at the event.

A total of 85 nominees competed for the prestigious 24-carat gold trophy in 17 categories in the second edition of the PSA.

The awards were presented by prominent stars including Aleem Dar, AisamUl Haq, Mahoor Shahzad, Wahab Riaz, Azhar Ali, Kulsoom Hazara, Nargis Hazara, and Imam Ul Haq among other notable personalities of Pakistan

The event was hosted by renowned show anchor Fahad Mustafa while Zainab Abbas and Ahsan Khan were the co-hosts. 

The star-studded attendees at the event included Arshad Nadeem (Javelin), Haniya Minhas
(Tennis),
Rabiya Shahzad (Powerlifting), Nighat Kausar (Rowing), Irum Javed (Cricket), and many other high achievers, athletes, coaches, referees, journalists, and sports fans.

Pakistan’s first female MMA fighter Anita finds sponsors for knee surgery

KARACHI: Pakistan’s first female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Anita Karim has found sponsors for her knee surgery after putting out a call for support.

The Hunza-hailed MMA star had recently impressed everyone as she defeated the Australian opponent Uyen Ha in the Fairtex Fight Promotion held in Bangkok.

The 25-year-old Anita took to Twitter to offer gratitude for the overwhelming response to her call for sponsorship while announcing that she would also share the details of her treatment and expenses soon.

“Thank you all for your warm wishes, prayers, and messages. We will find out about the details of the treatment and the cost this coming weekend. Once we have the details we will share it with everyone who reached out to us! Thank you all,” she wrote from her official Twitter account.

Earlier, Anita posted a tweet asking for sponsors who could help her with the knee surgery.

“Call for sponsors to help towards my knee surgery!” she tweeted.

 

Anita’s fame rose high following her victory over Indonesia’s Gita Suharsono in One Warrior Series (OWS) in 2019. The 25-years-old MMA fighter is also known as ‘Arm Collector’.

Pakistan’s first female MMA fighter Anita knocks out Australia’s Uyen Ha

BANGKOK: Pakistan’s first female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Anita Karim outclassed her Australian opponent Uyen Ha in the Fairtex Fight Promotion at Lumpinee Stadium here.

The 25-years-old Anita hailed from Hunza shone at the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium as she defeated her Australian counterpart Uyen Ha in all three rounds of the Bantamweight Fight.

Anita took to Twitter to express her joy over her victory over Uyen Ha and thanked her supporters.

“Another one, Alhumdulillah. All praises to the Almighty and a big thank you to everyone who showed love and support. Huge shoutout to my team @fairtexofficial for the knowledge and for pushing me every single day to get better!”
