Balochistan beat Sindh in a thriller to qualify for Pakistan Cup Final

MULTAN: Balochistan’s left-handed opener Haseebullah scored a brilliant century before Kashif Bhatti starred with three wickets to power the side beat Sindh by 13 runs in a thrilling second semi-final of the ongoing Pakistan Cup, here on Wednesday.

Batting first, Balochistan steered to a commendable total of 263 before being bowled out in the 44th over, thanks to the brilliant century and half-century knocks from Haseebullah and Asad Shafiq respectively.

The left-handed opener stood firm and kept the scoreboard ticking single-handedly while his side was losing wickets at the other end. The young batter went on to score a gritty century and top-scored for his side with 131 off 114 balls.

The experienced batter Asad then also chipped in and scored a valiant half-century. The right-handed batter scored 64 off 69 deliveries.

The rest of the Balochistan batters, on the other hand, could not manage to contribute significantly to the team’s total.

For Sindh, Muhammad Umar and Sohail Khan took three wickets each, while Mir Hamza bagged two. Abrar Ahmad and Saim Ayub, on the other hand, struck out a batter each.

Set to chase 264, Sindh fell short 13 runs short as the side could only score 250/9 in the allotted 50 overs despite the fifties from Sharjeel Khan, Khurram Manzoor, and Omair Bin Yusuf.

The batters remained a touch too slow in scoring their fifties, while the failure of the rest of the batters also halted the side’s chances of qualifying into the final of the tournament.

Omair top-scored with 60, while Khurram and Sharjeel followed back with 55 and 50 respectively. Saim, on the other hand, chipped in with his 30 off 26 balls.

For Balochistan, Kashif led the way with three wickets, while Yasir Shah and Khurram Shahzad claimed two wickets each. Amad Butt, on the other hand, made one scalp.

Abrar bags ten-fer as Sindh defeats Balochistan

KARACHI: Abrar Ahmed’s maiden ten-wicket haul and Ahsan Ali’s century steered Sindh to victory against Balochistan.

In the 16th match of the ongoing edition of Quaid-e-Azam trophy, Sindh defeated Balochistan by an innings 188 runs. At the toss, Sindh’s captain Asad Shafiq won the toss and put Balochistan into bat.

Batting first, balochistan batters were helpless against Sindh’s bowlers as they lost back to back wickets at a constant pace and were only managed to score 96 runs in first innings.

Skipper Imran Butt was their top-scorer in the first innings as he managed to score 33 runs. Rest of their batters could not do much to keep the scoreboard moving.

Sindh’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed turned out to be the standout bowler as he bagged a five-for. Sohail Khan took four wickets and Mir Hamza dismissed one batter.

Sindh in reply, were off to a solid start as their both openers played a superb knock, Ahsan Ali scored a brilliant century and missed out on a double-century before he got out on 194, Khurram Manzoor missed out on the century as he was dismissed on 94. Rest of the batters also made contributions and Sindh finished on 442.

Gohar Faiz took four wickets, Khurram Shehzad dismissed three batters while Kashif Bhatti, Amad Butt and Akif Javed took one wicket each.

Balochistan batters again found themselves struggling as they could not score big and the team bowled out for 158 in the second innings. Ayaz Tasawar was their top-scorer as the batter scored 45.

Abrar Ahmed again starred and bagged his maiden ten-wicket haul as he took six wickets in the second innings. Sohail Khan took three wickets and Mir Hamza took one wicket.

On the other hand, Southern Punjab is trailing by 128 runs in the second innings in the 17th match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy against Central Punjab. Whereas, in the 18th match, Northern lead by 206 runs in their second innings against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
