Bowlers, Ali Abid-inspired Abu Dhabi sink Emirates Red in D10 League

ABU DHABI: Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan shone with the ball before Ali Abid’s brisk 22-run knock propelled Abu Dhabi to a convincing six-wicket victory over Emirates Red in the 29th fixture of the Emirates D10 League.

Set to chase a modest 84-run target, Abu Dhabi accumulated 89/4 in 7.5 overs as skipper Ali Abid led from the front in the pursuit with an unbeaten 22.

Abid struck two boundaries and a six on his way to a 14-ball 22 and sealed crucial two points for Abu Dhabi, which bolstered them to draw level with second-placed Emirates Red.

Besides Ali Abid, Abdul Muqtadar Babar (17), Uzair Bacha (16) and Osama Hassan (15) also made significant contributions for the hosts in the run chase.

For Emirates Red, Abdullah Kayani, Umer Doger, Ammar Badami and Muhammad Asif-Jr could pick up a wicket.

Emirates Red had a dismal show with the bat in the first innings, after opting to bat as they were restricted to 83/7 in the allotted 10 overs.

Opening batter Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Irfan remained the joint top-scorers for Emirates Red with 18 each while Umer Doger was the other notable run-getter for his team with a crucial 14 at the backend.

Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan led the bowling attack for Abu Dhabi with two wickets each while Muhammad Mohsin, Irshad Hussain and Yash Punja struck out a batter each.

Abu Dhabi and Emirates Red both next face their Sharjah on Wednesday in their 10th match each of the campaign.

Emirates Red thump Dubai to solidify second spot in D10 League standings

ABU DHABI: Ahaan Fernandes’ brisk 48-run knock before Umer Doger’s 4/16 propelled Emirates Red to a dominant 27-run triumph over Dubai in the 25th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Emirates Red piled up a massive total of 115/6 in the allotted 10 overs at the back of quality knocks by Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Shahdad.

Earlier, Emirates Red got off to a poor start as they were two down with just 17 runs on the scoreboard as Uzair Haidar Naheed Ullah (1) and Muhammad Irfan-II (0).

Following the early hiccups, Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Shahdad launched the recovery for Emirates Red as they added 34 runs until the former perished.

Fernances smashed three boundaries and four sixes on his way to a 25-ball 48 and top-scored for the side.

Muhammad Shahdad, on the other hand, stood his ground firm and carried his bat all the way through before receiving brief support from Sana Ul Haq Bhatti (18) and Clinton Berkenshaw (2).

He remained the other notable run-getter for Emirates Red with his 18-ball 40, which featured four boundaries and two sixes.

For Dubai, Farooq Mohammad, Jaiditya Malik, Aryan Lakra and Nilansh Keswani struck out a batter each.

Set to chase 116, Dubai batting lineup struggled against the Umer Doger-led Emirates Red bowling attack and could score 88/8 in their set of 10 overs and thus handed a resounding 27-run victory to the second-placed side.

Top-order batter Taimoor Ali-I remained the top-scorer for Dubai amid their dismal show with the bat as he scored 23 off 13 deliveries with the help of two boundaries and a six.

Besides him, only Aryan Lakra (12) and Hriday Savnani Nilansh Keswai – 18 runs each – remained the notable run-getters while none of the rest managed to make it into the double figures.

Umer Doger led the bowling charge for Emirates Red with four wickets for just runs, while Muhammad Asif-Jr bagged two.

Emirates Red stun leaders Fujairah in D10 League

ABU DHABI: A collective bowling and batting brilliance powered Emirates Red to a convincing four-wicket victory over the table-toppers Fujairah in the 20th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, leaders Fujairah could manage 87/7 in the allotted 10 overs with modest contributions from their batters.

Fujairah got off to a poor start to their innings as the side lost their first wicket for just six runs in the first over as opener Salman Khan perished for just four.

The leaders then lost wickets at regular intervals before Emirates Bowlers restricted them to a par total.

Hafiz Almas and Zeeshan Abid led the way for Fujairah as they remained the joint top-scorers for the side with 17 runs each to their names.

Muhammad Asif Jr, Muhammad Irfan and Ammar Badami led the bowling charge for Emirates Red with two wickets each while Clinton Berkenshaw made one scalp.

Set to chase a modest total, Emirates Red comfortably amassed the target for the loss of six wickets with three balls to spare.

Skipper Muhammad Shahdad led his from the front in the pursuit and top-scored with a sensational 22 off just 10 deliveries, laced up with two boundaries and a six.

Besides Shadad, Muhammad Irfan remained the notable run-getter for Emirates Red in the run chase as he struck a vital 19 in 14 balls.

Umair Ali Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Fujairah with his 2/14 while Muhammad Rohid, Shahbaz Ali, Haider Ali and Hafiz Almas struck out a batter each.

Following an important victory, Emirates Blue remained in the third position in the D10 League standings with eight points while Fujairah retained their top spot with 10 points in six matches.

Emirates Blues sink Dubai in low-scoring D10 League thriller

ABU DHABI: Harsh Desai’s twin wickets before skipper Aryan Saxena’s vital knock paved the way for Emirates Blues to a narrow three-wicket victory over Dubai in the 19th fixture of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Dubai batters struggled against Emirates Blues’ bowling attack, which barred them from scoring freely and restricted them to a modest total of 71/6 in the allotted 10 overs.

Set to chase a meagre 72, Emirates Blues completed the pursuit in the last over with three wickets in hand but that was not achieved without hiccups as the Blues, after a decent start ran into a collapse and kept losing wickets at an alarming rate.

However, skipper Aryan Saxena’s quickfire 14-run knock sailed them through. He smashed two sixes amid his match-winning effort and remained the joint top-scorer for his side in the run chase with Alishan Sharafu and Ashwant Valthapa.

Nilansh Keswani, Shahid Nawaz, and Rahul Bhatia led the bowling attack for Dubai with two wickets each while Farooq Mohammad struck out a batter.

ABU DHABI: Fujairah’s bowlers, led by Muhammad Rohid decimated Ajman’s batting lineup before Salman Khan’s gritty 42-run knock powered the leaders to a convincing six-wicket victory in the 18th match of the Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Ajman’s batting lineup failed completely and could only raise 76 runs before bundling out in the ninth over.

The sixth-placed side’s batters struggled against a disciplined Fujairah bowling attack and none of them could make significant contributions with the bat with Rahul Chopra (19) top-scoring for the side.

Besides Chopra, Sagar Kalyan (14), Hashit Kaushik (13) and Abdul Shakoor (11) remained the notable run-getter for Ajman while the rest of their batters failed to make it into the double digits.

Fujairah’s Muhammad Rohid was sensational with the ball as he picked up four wickets for 24 runs in his quota of two overs, followed by Umair Ali Khan’s 3/10 while Haider Ali made two scalps.

Set to chase a modest 77-run target, Fujairah comfortably steered to victory in the ninth over, thanks to a sensible knock by Salman Khan.

The right-handed opener stood his ground firm while Fujairah lost wickets at regular intervals before propelling his side home.

He struck three boundaries and two sixes on his way to a 23-ball 42.

Besides him, only Raees Ahmed (10) managed to get into the double figures.

Mohd-Usman Mani was the pick of the bowlers for Ajman while Syed Essam and Nasir Aziz could pick up a wicket.

Sharjah edge Abu Dhabi on boundary count in D10 League thriller

ABU DHABI: Muhammad Uzair Khan struck a swashbuckling half-century before bowlers kept Abu Dhabi batters at bay to script a close victory for the visitors over the boundary count in the 17th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Sharjah piled on a massive total of 121/6 despite a poor start as the visitors were reeling at 59/6 in the seventh after opting to bat first.

Following the debacle, Muhammad Uzair Khan partnered strongly with Muhammad Zahid Ali and took Sharajah to a commendable total courtesy of an unbeaten 62-run partnership.

Uzair Khan remained the core aggressor of the match-defining stand as he took the hosts’ bowlers to the cleaners, smashing three boundaries and six sixes on his way to a quickfire 51 off just 15 deliveries.

Zahid Ali, on the other hand, stood firm on the other hand and remained unbeaten with his 10-ball 11, featuring two boundaries.

Sharjah’s innings featured a total of 23 boundaries with Uzair Khan leading the charge.

Zeeshan Ali Jnr led Abu Dhabi’s bowling attack with 2/29 while Raja Akifullah Khan, Muhammad Mohsin, Muhammad Zubair Khan and Irshad Hussain picked up a wicket apiece.

Set to chase 122, Abu Dhabi also accumulated 121 but for the loss of only two wickets and yet ended up on the losing side.

Abu Dhabi’s openers – Mohammad Kamran Atta (5) and Naik Muhammad (19) – struggled against Sharjah bowlers and failed to provide a strong start to their side in the run chase.

Ali Abid then took charge of Abu Dhabi’s pursuit and kept his side in the hunt with a sensational half-century.

He top-scored for the hosts with a 33-ball 60, which featured six boundaries and two sixes but failed to steer his side past Sharjah as both sides settled on the same score.

In response to Sharjah’s 23, Abu Dhabi’s innings featured only 16 boundaries despite Ali Abid’s eight.

Falling short in the boundary count despite ending up head-to-head on the scoreboard, Abu Dhabi succumbed to their second defeat of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

The close victory lifted Sharjah to the fifth spot in the Emirates D10 League points table while Abu Dhabi remained the second.

Adhitya, Alishan star as Emirates Blues thrash Sharjah in D10 League

ABU DHABI: Right-arm spinner Adhitya Shetty starred with the ball before Alishan Sharafu’s unbeaten half-century in the run chase muscled Emirates Blues to a perfect 10-wicket victory over Sharjah in the 14th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Opting to bat first, Sharjah could only accumulate 87/5 in the allotted 10 overs despite Hassan Eisakhel’s quickfire knock. He smashed three sixes and a boundary on his way to a 21-ball 30 and top-scored for Sharjah.

Besides Eisakhel, none of Sharjah’s batters could go big with only Khalid Shah remaining the other notable run-getter with a 13-ball 14.

Adhitya Shetty led the bowling attack for the Blues as he picked up three wickets and only leaked 12 runs in the process.

Set to chase a modest 88-run target, Emirates Blues comfortably chased down the total in the eighth over without losing a wicket.

Alishan Sharafu was the core aggressor of his unbeaten partnership with Zawar Farid as he scored 59 off just 28 deliveries, laced up with nine boundaries and two sixes.

His opening partner, Farid, on the other hand, firmed the other end and also carried his bat all the way through after an 18-ball 19 with the help of a boundary and a six.

None of the Sharjah bowlers could pick up a wicket and thus, Emirates Blues registered a thumping 10-wicket victory.
