Batters-led Fujairah thump Abu Dhabi to win Emirates D10 League title

ABU DHABI: Salman Khan and Muhammad Usman starred with the bat as Fujairah on Sunday, thumped Abu Dhabi by 62 runs and claimed Emirates D10 League 2023 title.

Fujairah batters fired all cylinders and made Abu Dhabi pay for their decision to bowl first. The visitors piled up a massive total of 139 for the loss of five wickets with Salman Khan and Muhammad Usman leading the charge with brilliant half-centuries.

Fujairah got off to a contrasting start as they were two down for 32 runs in the third over as opening batter Hameed Khan (8) and Raees Ahmed (11) perished cheaply.

Following the early slump, Salman and Usman partnered strongly for the third wicket and added 80 runs to the total in just 31 deliveries before the former fell.

Muhammad Zubair Khan castled Salman Khan, briefly after he amassed his half-century and provided a much-needed breakthrough to Abu Dhabi in the Emirates D10 League final.

Salman Khan smashed four boundaries and three sixes on his way to a 24-ball 51 and remained the top-scorer for Fujairah.

Fujairah then sustained another blow to their flying batting charge as Nasir Faraz (1) fell victim to Raja Akifullah Khan in the next over.

Muhammad Usman Khan and Hafiz Almas then ran riot in the next over as they scored 19 runs in the last over before the former got run out on the final delivery.

Salman remained the notable run-getter for Fujairah with a 21-ball 50 with the help of four boundaries and three sixes.

For Abu Dhabi, Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan picked up two wickets each.

Set to chase a mammoth in Emirates D10 League final, Abu Dhabi’s batting lineup stuttered and could only raise 77 runs before bundling out in the final over.

Opener Mohammad Kamran Atta (22) and in-form middle-order batter Ali Abid (23) were the notable run-getters for the hosts while the rest failed to make significant contributions at the grand stage.

Besides Atta and Abid, only Anoop Gopalkrishna (14) could make it into the double digits.

Mohammed Faraazuddin and Umair Ali Khan led the bowling attack for Fujairah with two wickets each while Muhammad Rohid, Shahbaz Ali, Haider Ali and Nasir Faraz made one scalp each.

It is worth mentioning here that eventual champions Fujairah put on a dominant show throughout the recently-concluded Emirates D10 League as the side also finished at the top of the standings.

Dominant Fujairah thump Sharjah to reach D10 League final

ABU DHABI: Fujairah bowlers led by Umair Ali Khan decimated Sharjah’s batting charge before Salman Khan and Nasir Faraz scored 29 each in the run chase to propel them to a resounding seven-wicket victory and into the Emirates D10 League final.

Put into bat first, Sharjah’s batting lineup failed in the semi-final and could raise a modest 76 for the loss of eight wickets in their quota of 10 overs.

None of the Sharjah batters could manage to score big in the knockout match while lower middle order batter Khalid Shah top-scored for them with 15 off eight deliveries.

Besides him, Fayyaz Ahmad (11) and Junaid Shamsuddin (13) were the other notable run-getters while five of their batters failed to make it into the double figures.

Umair Ali Khan led Fujairah’s commanding bowling charge as he returned with magnificent figures of 3/11 in his quota of two overs.

Haider Ali was also clinical with the ball for them as he picked up two wickets while Muhammad Rohid, Shahbaz Ali and Hafiz Almas struck out a batter apiece.

Fujairah had a decent start to their 77-run pursuit as their openers Salman Khan and Hameed Khan (5) added 35 runs for the first wicket before the latter perished on the last delivery of the third over.

Fujairah then lost two more wickets in quick succession as Raees Ahmad (1) and Salman Khan both perished in the fourth over.

Salman struck four boundaries and a six on his way to a 15-ball 29 and remained the joint top-scorer for Fujairah.

Following the brief collapse, Muhammad Usman (8*) and Nasir Faraz put on a match-winning 40-run partnership for the fourth wicket and completed a comfortable victory for their side which bolstered them to book their spot in the Emirates D10 League final.

ABU DHABI: Haider Ali shone with the ball with brilliant figures of 2/7 before Hameed Khan’s 42-run knock lifted Fujairah to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Emirates Red in the 40th match of the Emirates D10 League.

Set to chase a modest 76-run target, Fujairah, in response, raised 81 for the loss of just three wickets with 20 balls to spare, courtesy of a magnificent second-wicket partnership between Hameed Khan and Hafiz Almas.

The duo of Hameed and Almas recovered Fujairah’s pursuit from an early setback and stitched a match-defining 56-run partnership for the second wicket.

Hameed and Almas dominated Emirates Red bowlers amid their vital stand and scored at a brisk rate until Ammar Badami got the prized wicket of Hameed Khan in the sixth over when the table-toppers needed just four more runs.

Hameed struck three boundaries and as many sixes on his way to top-score for Fujairah with an 18-ball 42.

Hafiz Almas’s stay at the crease also remained brief after Hameed’s dismissal as he too, fell victim to Ammar Badami in the same over.

He remained the other notable run-getter for Fujairah with a 14-ball 25, laced up with a boundary and two sixes.

Put into bat first, Emirates Red’s batting lineup struggled against a strong Fujairah bowling attack and could accumulate 75/7 in the allotted 10 overs.

Lower-order batter Umer Doger top-scored for Emirates Red with a quickfire seven-ball 17 and bolstered their total at the backend.

ABU DHABI: Hassan Eisakhel wreaked havoc with a blistering half-century before bowlers steered Sharjah to a dominant 65-run victory over Emirates Blues in the 37th fixture of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Opting to bat first, Sharjah accumulated a mammoth 139/3 in 10 overs, thanks to a quickfire half-century by Hassan Eisakhel.

Sharjah openers Eisakhel and Qamar Awan laid a solid foundation for a massive total as they put on a brilliant opening partnership; adding 73 runs inside five overs.

Hassan Eisakhel was the core aggressor of the brilliant opening stand with Awan as he struck a belligerent 63 off just 20 deliveries, laced up with six boundaries and five sixes before Adithya Shetty finally got rid of him in the fifth over.

ABU DHABI: Zawar Farid followed his magnificent half-century with economical bowling figures of 1/14 and aided Emirates Blue’s dominant 18-run victory over Dubai in the 35th match of the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Put into bat first, Emirates Blues managed to pile up a mammoth total of 104/3 in 10 overs at the back of a brilliant knock by their opener Zawar Farid.

Farid and his opening partner Alishan Sharafu laid a solid foundation for a massive total with a vital 50-run partnership that lasted when Shahid Nawaz got rid of Sharafu in the sixth over.

Set to chase a massive total of 106, Emirates Blue comfortably accumulated 111 for the loss of three wickets with an over to spare, thanks to a sensational 59-run knock by Alishan Sharafu.

ABU DHABI: Ronak Panoly’s quickfire 43 followed by Nilansh Keswani’s 3/12 lifted Dubai to edge Sharjah by one run after a high-scoring thriller in the ongoing Emirates D10 League.

Set to chase 102, Sharjah fell just one run short as they raised 100/8 in 10 overs despite Hassan Eisakhel’s sensational 33-run knock.

Sharjah had a dismal start to the run chase as they were two down for just 13 runs in the second over as opener Usman Khan (0) and Fayyaz Ahmad (8) perished cheaply.

Following the slump, Hassan Eisakhel and Mohammad Nadeem launched the recovery for their side as the pair added 42 runs amid their third-wicket partnership until the former perished.

Eisakhel struck two boundaries and as many sixes on his way to a 17-ball 33.

Following Eisakhel’s dismissal, Muhammad Nadeem put on a brief partnership with Muhammad Uzair Khan before Ronak Panoly brought down the curtains on his cautious 17-run knock in 14 deliveries.
