Pakistan’s esports icon Arslan Ash will miss two of the biggest events on the Tekken World Tour 2025 calendar, Evo Japan and Riyadh Clash, due to ongoing visa challenges.
The four-time Evo champion and global face of Pakistani esports took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the frustrating update with his fans.
“I will not be able to attend Riyadh Clash and Evo JP this year. I made every effort to go, but unfortunately, I encountered visa problems again,” Ash wrote. “It’s fine, I’ve learned to live with passport limitations; maybe one day, things will change.”
Arslan’s absence leaves a major void in both tournaments. Evo Japan and Riyadh’s Gamers8 circuit are considered among the most prestigious events in competitive Tekken, and the Pakistani superstar has been a fan favourite at both.
While the disappointment is clear, Arslan Ash isn’t stepping away from the game. He confirmed his participation at the upcoming LevelUp Expo and is also looking to make the most of domestic opportunities this season — all while keeping his options open for other international events.

His situation once again highlights the harsh realities many Pakistani esports athletes face. Despite repeatedly proving themselves on the world stage, including a recent tournament where Pakistani players convincingly outplayed top-tier Japanese talent, off-the-field obstacles continue to hold them back.
“While cricket remains a cherished national passion, I dream of a future where other sports and industries – especially esports – receive the same recognition and support,” Arslan said in a recent interview.
The news comes at a time when global anticipation is building for the Esports World Cup 2025, set to take place in Saudi Arabia from July 7 to August 4. With a record-breaking $70 million prize pool, the mega-event will feature 25 titles, 2,000+ players, and more than 200 international clubs.
And while Arslan Ash may be missing from the start of the season, his story continues to be a symbol of talent, perseverance — and the hurdles that still need to be overcome in the world of esports.
