COVID-19 rules Faheem Ashraf out of Karachi Test

KARACHI: Pakistan’s fast bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been ruled out of the Karachi Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy, following his contraction to the widely spread virus.

Faheem, who missed the first Test of the ongoing historic series between Pakistan and Australia due to an injury has now been ruled out of the second Test as the fast-bowling all-rounder has tested positive for COVID-19 on his on-arrival test at the team hotel.

The all-rounder is now due to undergo a mandatory isolation period of five days and will miss the Karachi Test.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Faheem’s replacement will be announced in due case if needed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the first Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy in Rawalpindi, ended as a draw, while the Karachi Test will be played from March 12 to March at National Stadium.

Haris, Hasan, Faheem rejoin the squad for Karachi Test 

RAWALPINDI: The fast bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and the right-arm pacers Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf have rejoined the squad after completing their mandatory isolation periods, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared on Saturday.

Haris, who was out of the action of the historic Rawalpindi Test due to his contraction of the widely spread virus, has rejoined the squad after completing his mandatory isolation period and testing negative for the virus.

Hasan and Faheem, on the other hand, who were ruled out of the first Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy sustaining injuries have rejoined the squad after the completion of their mandatory isolation and recovering from their respective injuries.

Hasan suffered a groin injury while Faheem picked up an injury during his side’s fixture against Peshawar Zalmi in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7.

It is pertinent to mention here that the first Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy between Pakistan and Australia is underway with the hosts are in a comfortable position.

‘My vote in PCB Awards is for my friend Hasan Ali’ Faheem Ashraf

LAHORE: All-rounder Faheem Ashraf shared that he voted for his friend and teammate Hasan Ali in Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) annual awards which will happen virtually today at 6pm. 

In a press conference here on Monday, Faheem praised PCB for acknowledging cricketers’ performance annually.

“It is a great initiative by the PCB for acknowledging players’ performance annually. It really boosts confidence of individuals to do more,” he said.

“My vote is for Hasan Ali as he has performed really well this year. Also, he is my good friend,” Faheem shared.

While talking about upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7, Faheem said like fans, they are also excited.

“Every year, we get excited for PSL just like our fans. Its a big event which gives an opportunity to players. I will try my best to perform in this event,” he said.

Hand injury rules Faheem Ashraf out of PSL 6’s action

Abu Dhabi: Islamabad United’s all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has been ruled out of action after suffering from an injury in his left hand.
The 27-year-old Faheem received a blow during last night’s match vs Lahore Qalandars. He got five stitches due to split webbing.


“Faheem had already bowled his first two overs when he suffered the injury, and he immediately left the field. The all-rounder had suffered a split between his thumb and index finger and five stitches have been applied to the deep cut. The injury means he is likely to miss game time in Islamabad United’s forthcoming matches,” United said in a press release.
It must be noted that United lost to Qalandars by five wickets yesterday.
