After the match, Hasan spoke to the media and reflected on his side’s shortcomings against Multan Sultans.

“We have lost four matches in Karachi. We have failed in every department,” he told reporters.

Karachi Kings now need to win their remaining three matches to stay in contention for a place in the playoffs.

Pakistan fast bowler set to join Yorkshire for T20 Blast

Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali has secured a stint in county cricket after signing with Yorkshire County Cricket Club as an overseas player for the upcoming Vitality Blast.

The 31-year-old will replace Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, who has been ruled out after suffering a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

Naveen had already missed the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year and will not recover in time to take up his contract at Headingley.

Yorkshire have moved swiftly to bring in Hasan, who arrives with a significant T20 pedigree. The right-arm quick has represented Pakistan in 57 T20 Internationals and has built a strong reputation across franchise leagues worldwide.

His previous county stint with Warwickshire further strengthens his credentials, having picked up 44 wickets at an impressive average of 14.93 across three Vitality Blast campaigns between 2023 and 2025.

Hasan Ali is also carrying strong momentum into the competition, currently enjoying an excellent run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, where he has claimed nine wickets in four matches for Karachi Kings at an average of just over 13.

The experienced pacer is expected to be available for Yorkshire throughout the Blast group stage and will also feature in two County Championship fixtures against Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket, Gavin Hamilton, welcomed the signing, acknowledging the disappointment of losing Naveen but expressing confidence in Hasan’s ability to fill the void.

“Whilst we’re naturally disappointed to not see Naveen join us this year, in Hasan we have an exceptional replacement,” he said.

“He arrives with a wealth of experience and a skillset that we believe will be invaluable to the group. We’re delighted to have secured someone of Hasan’s quality at such short notice, and everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley next month.”

“It’s a great feeling to start the season with a win, and it was a very good victory,” Hasan said. “Hopefully, we can carry this momentum forward in the upcoming matches.”

“Our batters put up a very good total against Quetta, so the plan with the ball was to hit the right areas,” he explained.

“Even though we didn’t bowl as well as we wanted in the powerplay, credit goes to our spinners who bowled in the right areas and helped us make a comeback. Later, the fast bowlers capitalized on that and executed well.”

Hasan Ali also spoke about his personal comeback during the match after conceding 16 runs in his first over, stressing the importance of composure under pressure.

“It’s very important to control your nerves and stay calm,” he said.

“I strongly believe there’s always a chance to make a comeback, and cricket gives you that second opportunity. My plan was to recover those runs in my next spell and deliver for the team, and thankfully, it worked.”

Looking ahead, the experienced pacer outlined both his individual and team ambitions for the tournament.

“There are always individual goals, like becoming the best bowler of the season,” Hasan noted.

“But more importantly, I want to perform when my team needs me the most and help lead Karachi Kings to victory. Individual and team goals go hand in hand.”

Karachi Kings will now take on defending champions Lahore Qalandars in their next fixture on Sunday, 29 March, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Under the new structure, each franchise may retain up to four players, with one player per category.

This time, teams are not allowed to retain up to eight players, and have other provisions, such as mentors, brand ambassadors, and the Right to Match (RTM) option, which has been in the rules since the inception of PSL.

For the upcoming season, the PCB has also abolished the mentor, brand ambassador, and RTM clauses altogether, streamlining the squad-building process ahead of the auction.

The PSL 11 will get underway on March 26, 2026, and will mark Faisalabad’s first-ever stint as a host city. The venue will join Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, expanding the league to five host cities.

Curran’s four-fer routs Hasan Ali’s Strikers out of BBL 15

MELBOURNE: Tom Curran’s career-best bowling figures helped Melbourne Stars crush Hasan Ali Adelaide Strikers in the 34th fixture of the Big Bash League (BBL) 15 here at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday.

Stars chased down a mere 84-run target in 15.1 overs, losing four wickets in the process, keeping their hopes alive for reaching the BBL finals.

After the defeat, Adelaide Strikers were eliminated with three wins out of nine games.

Although Stars started the chase cautiously, they eventually reached home with Thomas Rogers top-scoring with 32 from 40 with the help of two fours.

Sam Harper and Campbell Kellaway were sent packing for nine and duck, respectively, in the first three overs, which provided Adelaide Strikers with a glimmer of hope.

However, Blake Macdonald and Rogers’ 30-run partnership made light work of the chase.

The scorecard read 43-3 in 8.3 overs when skipper Marcus Stoinis arrived at the crease and hit a 23 off 20 before getting retired hurt.

For Adelaide Strikers, Liam Scott picked up two wickets.

Earlier, Melbourne Stars capitalized on the decision to bowl first as Curran led the attack, skittling Adelaide Strikers for 83 in 19.3 overs.

It was Tom Curran’s burst with the new ball that broke the back of Stikers batting lineup.

The right-arm pacer kept the Strikers on their toes as they were reduced to 21-4 at the end of the powerplay.

The Strikers could not get going despite a brief partnership of 19 between Jamie Overton and Liam Scott that brought the score near 40 run mark.

However, Curran sparked a collapse that the Strikers never recovered from.

For Melbourne Stars, Tom Curran earned the player of the match award, scalping four in his quota of four overs while giving away only 10. Mitchell Swepson also chipped in with the ball, with three wickets to his name.

Hasan Ali, Chris Lynn dazzle as Strikers break New Year jinx in BBL 15

ADELAIDE: Veteran batter Chris Lynn rolled back the clock with his sublime hitting, whereas Hasan Ali bowled a clinical spell, propelling Adelaide Strikers to a seven-wicket victory over Brisbane Heat in the 17th fixture of the Big Bash League (BBL) 15.

Set 122, Strikers romped to a victory in 14.1 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Chris Lynn and skipper Matthew Short made light work of the chase, adding 51 in 7.1 overs. Short perished after scoring 19 off 27.

Meanwhile, Lynn continued the charge and reached his record, extending a 32nd BBL half-century.

The second and third wickets fell in quick time with Mackenzie Harvey and Jerrssis Wadia dismissed for 11 and one respectively, reducing Adelaide Strikers to 95-3 in 12.1 overs.

However, Lynn’s sublime hitting continued, which kept Brisbane Heat bowlers at bay and propelled his side over the finishing line.

The right-hander remained unbeaten on 79 from 4, striking half a dozen fours and the same number of maximums. In doing so, he also became the first batter in the tournament’s history to reach the 4000-run mark.

For Brisbane Heat, Xavier Bartlett, Oli Patterson, and Thomas Balkin picked up one wicket each.

With this, Adelaide Strikers recorded their first victory on New Year’s Eve since 2018.

Earlier, after opting to field first, the home side skittled Brisbane Heat for a mere 121 in 19.4 overs.

Strikers inflicted a miserable start on Heat as half of their side was sent back inside powerplay.

Colin Munro (4), Jack Wildermuth (5), Lachlan Hearne (2), Matt Renshaw (6), and Max Bryant (1) were sent back in a cheap manner, which left Brisbane Heat 21-5 at the end of the powerplay.

With an early hiccup, Hugh Weibgen and Jimmy Peirson tried to arrest the slide with a brief 26-run partnership. However, another two wickets in quick succession put them in a familiar state of recovery.

Peirson made 13 off 12 before Weibgen took the scorecard over the 100-run mark with a 36* run partnership alongside Matthew Kuhnemann, who remained the top scorer with 31 off 22 balls.

Eventually, the whole side was bundled out for a below-par score.

For Adelaide Strikers, Jamie Overton remained the pick of the bowlers alongside Liam Scott and Hasan Ali, who picked two scalps each.

Hasan reiterated his decision to play the longest format of the game if he remains fit.

“Test cricket is my love. Even if the time comes to retire from T20s and ODIs, I won’t even think about quitting Test cricket as long as I’m fit,”
