Hamza takes the lead in the first round of Federal Golf Championship

ISLAMABAD: Hamza Khattak of Peshawar Club seized an early lead in the first round of the Federal Amateur Golf Championship’s amateur category, here on Friday.

Hamza, who lost a stroke each on holes 2, 4, and 10 carded three birdies at the same time, which propelled the golfer to finish at the score of par after the conclusion of the opening round.

Qasim Khan, Salman Khan, and Noman Asghar, on the other hand, tied for the second place after the first round of 18 holes, each carding two over.

Noman, who started the day on a high note by shooting two under 34, was derailed by a sequence of bogies on the back nine, finishing with two over for the day.

Pakistan’s top golfer Omar Khalid had a similar start to Noman but two double bogies resulted in him finishing the day at three over 75 for the opening day.

The professional tournament Jinnah Development Golf Tour, on the other hand, got off to an interesting start with Mohammad Waqar (ICGC), Mohammad Asif, Haroon Rashid, and Mohammad Saqib all shooting two under 70 to tie for first place after the first round.

It is apropos to mention here that around 185 golfers from across the country are participating in the event, which will also feature an exhibition match between the diplomats.

Federal Amateur Golf Championship and Jinnah Development Tour kick off

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Amateur Golf Championship and the Jinnah Development Golf Tour have been kicked off here on Friday. 

In a press conference, held at the Islamabad Club on Thursday, the Wing Commander (Retd.) I N Khokhar announced the commencement of the two tournaments – the Federal Amateur Golf Championship and the Jinnah Development Golf Tour.

The two tournaments will be played from May 13 to May 15 here with the Federal Amateur Championship featuring non-professional men, women, and junior players in different categories. Jinnah Development Tour, on the other hand, will feature professional golfers.

According to Khokhar, around 185 golfers from across the country are participating in the event, which will also feature an exhibition match between the diplomats.

It is apropos to mention here that the top performers of the championship will benefit in terms of their Asian Development Tour Rankings.
