South Africa beats Pakistan in Junior Hockey World Cup’s ranking match

BHUBANESWAR: South Africa defeated Pakistan 4-1 in the penalty shootout stage of the Junior Hockey World Cup’s ranking match here on Thursday. 

The ranking match between the Green Shirts and the Proteas ended 3-3 at the scheduled time before being decided in the penalty shootout stage. For Pakistan, field goals were scored by Abu Zar, Abdul Hanan, and Abdul Rehman.

In the penalty shootout, Adeel Latif scored the only goal for Pakistan in response to South Africa’s four.

Green shirts will play their last match on December 4 for 11th /12th position.

Pakistan beat USA by 18-2 in Junior Hockey World Cup’s ranking match

BHUBANESWAR: Pakistan defeated the United States by a score of 18-2 in a ranking match of the Junior Hockey World Cup here on Tuesday. 

Pakistan competed for the 9th to 16th position match against the USA in order to improve their event’s ranking.

Pakistan launched an attack on the USA from the start with Abu Zar scoring the game’s first goal in the 14th minute. Soon after, Rizwan scored his first goal of the game in the 20th minute and the Green shirts kept the momentum going, pushing the opposition back and scoring 18 goals.

Waheed, the captain, was the team’s standout performer, scoring four goals, including a hat-trick. Abu Zar also scored hat-trick. Rizwan, on the other hand, scored two goals for Pakistan. Umair Sattar, Roman Khan, Hammad Anjum, Mohibullah, Mohsin Hassan, Abdul Manan, Moin Shakeel, and Abdul Rehman scored a goal each.

The USA players, on the other hand, appeared helpless as they only managed to score two goals Quaile Finlay was the only goal scorer for the team with two goals.

Pakistan has two matches left to improve their rankings. Green Shirts will play the next match on December 2 for the 9th to 12th position rankings against South Africa.

It should be noted that Pakistan were eliminated from the title race following their defeat to Argentina in third group match.

Argentina knock out Pakistan from Junior Hockey World Cup

BHUBANESWAR: Argentina defeated Pakistan by 4-3 to make it to the quarter-finals of the ongoing Junior Hockey World Cup here at Kalinga Hockey Stadium on Sunday.

Argentina launched an attack on Pakistan from the very start as Capurro Bautista struck the first goal in the tenth minute of the game.However, in the 17th minute, Rana Abdul Waheed scored for Pakistan to make the scores level (1-1). In reply, Nardolillo Ignacio scored a goal in the 20th minute to take a 2-1 lead for Argentina. However, in the 28th minute, Rizwan Ali scored for Pakistan to level the scores again (2-2).

In the 30th minute, Ruiz Francisco scored for Argentina to take the lead (3-2) and in the 47th minute, Ibarra Ignacio scored the overall fourth goal for Argentina and extended their lead even more to 4-2.

Aqeel Ahmed scored the third goal from Pakistan in the 53rd minute but could not go further to avoid the lead. And, in the end, Argentina finished with the scoreboard read 4-3.

Rana Waheed, Rizwan Ali and Aqeel scored one goal each for Pakistan. Green shirts scored 2 goals on penalty corner and one on penalty stroke.

Pakistan will face the United States for event ranking, in the next match. The match will be played on November 30 at 1:00 PM (Pakistan time).

Pakistan beat Egypt by 3-1 in Junior Hockey World Cup

BHUBANESWAR: Pakistan beat Egypt by 3-1 in their second match of the ongoing FIH Junior Hockey World Cup here on Saturday. 

In a must-win contest, Pakistan played exceptionally well with their drag flicker Rizwan Ali registering a hat-trick. Rizwan made the most of three penalty corners in the 19th, 32nd, and 53rd minute of the game, respectively.

For Egypt, the only field goal was scored by Awad Hussein. With this victory, Pakistan remains with a chance to qualify for the next round.

The Green Shirts are scheduled to play their last group stage match on November 28 against Argentina.

Schedule of FIH Junior Hockey World Cup announced

Lahore: The schedule of the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup has been announced, Pakistan will play their first match against Germany on November 24.

Sixteen teams are participating in the event, starting from November 24 to December 5 in Bhubaneswar, India. The 16 teams include hosts India, Pakistan, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Argentina, Malaysia, South Africa, Chile, Canada, France, Poland, Korea, the United States and Egypt.

Pakistan will play matches on November 24, 27 and 28 against Germany, Egypt and Argentina respectively.

According to the FIH, women’s competition will also be held simultaneously. Here are the pool details of both men and women.
