Haris Rauf ruled out of England Test series due to injury

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s right-arm speedster Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the ongoing historic home Test series against England due to an injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the details, the right-arm pacer had been unable to recover from the injury he sustained on the opening day of the recently-concluded Rawalpindi Test.

Haris rolled over the ball in a fielding attempt on the first day of the match and felt discomfort in his right quad. The fast bowler underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and the subsequent assessment by the PCB medical staff concluded that the fast bowler suffered a grade-II strain.

Haris will now travel to Lahore where he will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre (NHPC).

It is pertinent to mention that following England captain Ben Stokes’ brave declaration, the bowlers’ brilliance powered the touring side to claim a scintillating victory over Pakistan in the first Test.

According to the details, the right-arm pacer had been unable to recover from the injury he sustained on the opening day of the recently-concluded Rawalpindi Test.

Haris rolled over the ball in a fielding attempt on the first day of the match and felt discomfort in his right quad. He had been under observation by the team’s medical staff despite showing no signs of injury.

The right-arm pacer also underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at a local hospital on Friday and according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was available for the remainder of the first Test.

Haris then did not bowl in the second innings; now the details suggest he has been ruled out of the Multan Test.

PCB provides an update on Haris Rauf’s injury scare

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official on Friday provided an update regarding right-arm speedster Haris Rauf’s injury scare during the post-match press conference after the conclusion of Day 2 of the ongoing Rawalpindi Test.

According to the PCB spokesperson, Haris underwent Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at a local hospital here as a precautionary method to examine a likely injury that the former sustained on the first day of the Rawalpindi Test.

Haris rolled over the ball in a fielding attempt on the first day of the match and felt discomfort in his right quad. He is under observation by the team’s medical staff despite showing no signs of injury.

The PCB spokesperson further confirmed that the right-arm pacer will be available for the remainder of the first Test against England.

It is pertinent to mention that Rauf is among four Pakistan debutants in the Rawalpindi Test against England. Besides him, Zahid Mahmood, Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Ali are playing their first match.

Meanwhile, Pakistan scripted a much-needed fightback as their openers Imam-ul-Haq (90) and Abdullah Shafique (89) stitched an unbeaten 181-run partnership before the stumps on Day 2.

Earlier, in the day, England posted their highest Test total against Pakistan (657) and bettered their previous best of 589-9 at Manchester in 2016.

Meanwhile, on the opening day of the Rawalpindi Test, England batters put on a dominant show and tumbled various records including scoring more than 500 runs on the first day of a Test match – the highest score of the first day.

Haris Rauf suffers injury, to miss next County Championship fixture

YORKSHIRE: Pakistani right-arm pacer Haris Rauf, who is representing Yorkshire in the ongoing County Championship 2022, has been ruled out of the side’s next fixture after sustaining a minor injury.

According to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Haris, who picked up an injury during his side’s recently concluded fixture against Kent, is now set to miss the next match.

Haris, who is suffering from aches on the left side of his body, has been advised to rest for a week, and as a result, will miss the side’s next fixture against Essex.

The head coach of the Yorkshire CCC, Ottis Gibson also commented regarding Haris’s injury and hoped that he will be fine by the coming week.

“Luckily, Haris’s injury is not severe. He is under treatment and will be fine by next week,” Gibson said.

“Haris will not be available for our next match,” he confirmed.

It is pertinent to mention here that Haris enjoyed a delightful three-match stint in the ongoing County Championship as the right-arm pacer picked 14 wickets including a five-fer.
