ICC delegation meets PCB chairman Naqvi after inspection for Champions Trophy

ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation met the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi here on Wednesday after inspecting venues and facilities in the country for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The delegation led by Chris Tetley, ICC’s Head of Events, included Sarah Edgar, Senior Manager event operations at ICC and Aun Zaidi, Manager event operations.

The meeting was also attended by COO PCB Salman Naseer, Director International Cricket PCB Usman Wahla and other PCB officials.

After inspecting Karachi’s National Bank Stadium, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium, the ICC delegation insisted on the extensive preparations needed to host the Champions Trophy 2025.

Acknowledging the importance of hosting a successful tournament, Mohsin Naqvi gave the delegation assurances of thorough preparations at every stage.

He further presented his plans for the stadiums’ upgradation and reiterated that he would not leave any stone unturned.

“Pakistan is set to host an ICC Tournament which is an absolute pleasure and a welcome development not just for the board but also for the fans across the country who are an important stakeholder in this sport.

“The PCB will arrange top-notch facilities as per the stature of this historic tournament.

“I am delighted to announce that the PCB will upgrade the three major venues in the country well in time before the start of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB will leave no stone unturned in making this a very successful and memorable tournament.”

The ICC delegation expressed satisfaction with the overall facilities on offer across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.

ICC delegation visits Gaddafi Stadium to review arrangements for Champions Trophy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation on Tuesday paid a visit to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and reviewed the arrangements for the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in February 2025.

ICC Event Operations team, including Senior Manager Sarah Edgar, and Manager Aoun Zaidi inspected various facilities at the stadium including the field, dugouts, and media accommodations.

In addition, they evaluated the VIP boxes, digital screens, and the practical path from the hotel to the stadium.

The ICC delegation will then travel to Islamabad for the final phase of the inspection where they will be joined by Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events.

Tetley is poised to meet the newly-appointed PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad.

Following the completion of the inspection, the delegation will then compile a report and share it with the ICC and member nations.

Earlier on Monday, the ICC delegation visited Karachi’s National Bank Stadium.

The team inspected various facilities of the National Bank Stadium while the management of the stadium briefed the delegation regarding the arrangements for the upcoming tournament.

Last year in December, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) signed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai.

According to a statement, the former PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf was joined by ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall in the signing of the hosting rights to Pakistan at the ICC headquarters.

The PCB in its capacity has already intimated the government to provide foolproof security to visiting international teams for the Champions Trophy.

For the unversed, ICC, in November 2021, announced a series of international cricket competitions for both men and men in the 2024–2031 cycle, which also features the 2025 and 2029 Champions Trophy editions.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be an eight-tournament and the structure will follow previous editions with two groups of four, semi-finals and final.

ICC delegation visits Pakistan to review Champions Trophy preparations

KARACHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation on Monday reached Pakistan to review the arrangements for the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in February 2025.

According to the details, the ICC Event Operations team, including Senior Manager Sarah Edgar, and Manager Aoun Zaidi, landed in Karachi to review the arrangements for the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to be held in Pakistan.

The ICC delegation will inspect various parts of the National Stadium in Karachi while the management of the stadium will brief the delegation regarding the arrangements for the upcoming tournament.

The ICC delegation is also likely to meet representatives of law enforcement agencies.

The delegation will also visit Lahore and Rawalpindi stadiums in stages meanwhile, ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley will join the delegation during their visit in Rawalpindi.
