PCB shifts Pakistan-West Indies ODI series to Multan

LAHORE: Pakistan’s home ODI series against the West Indies has been shifted to Multan following the possible political instability in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed.

In an official statement released by the PCB, the cricket board confirmed that the three ODIs, which are part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League will be played on the previously announced dates i.e. 8, 10 and 12 June, with the matches starting at 4 PM PKT time.

The squad will participate in the training camp ahead of the series here from June 1-4 before travelling to Multan on June 5.

Pakistan’s right-arm speedster Haris Rauf and the leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who are currently playing county cricket in the United Kingdom will land in the country on June 1 and will join the training camp on the next day.

The West Indian side, on the other hand, will arrive in Islamabad on June 6 via a chartered flight.

Series schedule with umpire and match referee appointments:

8th June – First ODI: Aleem Dar and Ahsan Raza (on-field umpires), Rashid Riaz (third umpire) and Faisal Khan Afridi (fourth umpire); Mohammad Javed (match referee)

10th June – Second ODI: Aleem Dar and Asif Yaqoob (on-field umpires), Ahsan Raza (third umpire), Faisal Khan Afridi (fourth umpire); Mohammad Javed (match referee)

12th June – Third ODI: Aleem Dar and Rashid Riaz (on-field umpires), Asif Yaqoob (third umpire), Faisal Khan Afridi (fourth umpire); Mohammad Javed (match referee)

Pakistan-West Indies ODI series to be shifted to Multan: Sources

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to shift the upcoming home ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies to Multan following the ongoing political instability in the city, sources claimed.

According to the details, following the current political situation in Islamabad, the PCB has opted to go towards the backup option for the series – Multan. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi, however, the rising political tensions forced the cricket board to go for a different option.

The booking and reservations of the hotel and flights have been started by the PCB for the new venue. Whereas, an official statement by the PCB is also expected by today evening.

Sources further claimed that the touring side West Indies will reach Multan directly on June 5. Whereas, the first ODI against Pakistan is scheduled for June 8.

It is pertinent to mention here that the second and third ODI between the two teams will be played on June 10 and 12 respectively.

PAK-WI ODIs likely to be played in evening due to heatwave

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering changing the timings of the upcoming home ODIs against the West Indies due to the ongoing heatwave in the country.

According to the details, the ODIs will most likely be played in the evening at 4 PM, rather than the previously announced time of 2:30 PM.

The weather forecast of the host city Rawalpindi suggests the mercury to go beyond 40 during the scheduled ODI series.

In addition, the PCB is formulating safety precautions for the players, officials, and staff engaged in the series. Extra drinks will be allowed during the match as per ICC rules to protect players from the heat, and air coolers will also be placed in players’ dugouts.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan and West Indies are scheduled to lock horns in three ODIs, scheduled on June 8, 10, and 12.
