The tour will feature three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, all scheduled to be played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Zimbabwe are set to arrive on 29 April, with both teams slated to undergo training sessions from 30 April to 2 May ahead of the series opener.

Pakistan currently sit fifth on the ICC Women’s Championship standings, having earned two points from their only series so far, a three-match ODI tour of the South Africa women’s cricket team earlier this year.

Beyond the bilateral contest, the T20Is will hold added significance for Pakistan as they gear up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from 12 June to 5 July.

As part of their preparations, Pakistan will also participate in a T20I tri-nation series in Ireland, alongside the hosts and the West Indies women’s national cricket team, with matches set to take place from 28 May to 4 June.

Pakistan defeat Bangladesh to remain unbeaten in Women’s World Cup Qualifier

Pakistan wrapped up their ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier campaign on a high, outclassing Bangladesh by seven wickets in their final group match at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground on Saturday.

Already through to the ICC Women’s World Cup in India later this year, Pakistan showed no signs of complacency as they produced another disciplined all-round performance to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament.

Asked to bowl first after Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana won the toss, Pakistan’s bowlers responded brilliantly.

Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal was the pick of the attack, finishing with impressive figures of 3/28 in her 10 overs, while skipper Fatima Sana and Diana Baig chipped in with two wickets each.

Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu bagged one apiece as Bangladesh limped to 178/9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Only Ritu Moni (48 off 76) and Fahima Khatun (44* off 53) offered any resistance with the bat, but the lack of partnerships at the top proved costly in what was a must-win game for Bangladesh.

In reply, Pakistan made light work of the chase to remain unbeaten in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier.

Muneeba Ali anchored the innings with a classy 69 off 93 deliveries, laced with eight boundaries, while Aliya Riaz guided the side home with an unbeaten 52 off 65, hitting six fours and a six.

Sidra Amin also contributed a steady 33 at the top to ensure the hosts were always ahead of the game. Pakistan reached the target with 62 balls to spare, losing just three wickets in the process.

For Bangladesh, Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akter, and Marufa Akter claimed a wicket each, but there was little joy for their camp as they now face an anxious wait.

With just one spot remaining, Bangladesh’s hopes of qualification for the ICC Women’s World Cup now hinge on the result of the final match between West Indies and Thailand.

If the West Indies manage a big win, they could leapfrog Bangladesh into the second spot and book their ticket to the World Cup alongside Pakistan.

Pakistan women’s head coach ‘satisfied’ with performance in Asia Cup

The head coach of the Pakistan women’s cricket team Muhammad Wasim has expressed satisfaction over the team’s performance in the ACC Asia Cup 2024.

Pakistan women were knocked out of the tournament as Sri Lanka defeated them by four wickets in the semi-final courtesy of skipper Chamari Athapaththu’s half-century.

Wasim, who was appointed as the coach ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup, shared his disappointment over not reaching the final. However, he was satisfied with team’s overall performance.

“The overall performance of the team has been good but it is disappointing not to reach the finals. The team has played good cricket throughout the tournament,” said Muhammad Wasim.

Pakistan faced their arch-rivals India in the opening game, where they suffered a heavy seven-wicket defeat. India comfortably chased down 109 runs, losing only three wickets with 35 balls to spare.

However, Pakistan bounced back in the tournament as they registered two dominant victories against Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“After the first match, the performance of the team improved,” Wasim added.

He also praised top-order batters Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali, who played key roles in Pakistan’s victories against Nepal and UAE.

“In batting, we gave freedom to the batters which resulted in the performance of Gul Feroza and Muniba Ali,” he further added.

Gull Feroza scored 149 runs in four games at an average of 49.66, while Muneeba Ali scored 131 runs in as many matches at 65.50.

Pakistan-England 2nd Women’s ODI abandoned due to rain

TAUNTON: The second ODI between Pakistan and England’s women’s teams was abandoned due to persistent rain here on Sunday.

Pakistan women’s team opted to bat first after winning the toss and scored 29 runs in 6.5 overs before the rain halted the play.

Notably, England are leading the three-match series against Pakistan 1-0, part of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Championship.

As a result of the wash-out, both teams got one point each after the second match. England are placed third, while Pakistan are sitting in fifth position in the ICC Women’s Championship points table.

England defeated the visitors by 37 runs in the series opener in Derby on Thursday, thanks to Sophie Ecclestone’s economical bowling figures of 3/26.

Put into bat first, England notched up a commendable total of 243/9 in the allotted 50 overs despite Nida Dar’s three wickets.

In-form Alice Capsey top-scored for the home side with a gutsy 44-run knock with the help of three boundaries.

Besides her, wicketkeeper Amy Jones made a notable contribution with her 38-ball 37. Jones was closely followed by opener Tammy Beaumont (33), Nat Sciver-Brunt (31) and skipper Heather Knight (29).

For Pakistan, Nida Dar picked up three wickets, followed by Aliya Riaz, Nashra Sandhu and Umm-e-Hani, who bagged two wickets each.

Set to chase 244, Pakistan women only managed 206/9 despite a decent start to the pursuit.

Pakistan women’s batters had trouble scoring freely against a disciplined England bowling attack.

Muneeba Ali top-scored for the touring side with a 34 but conceded 60 deliveries in the process and struck only one boundary.

Besides her, opening batter Sadaf Shams (28 off 48) and wicketkeeper batter Najiha Alive (26 off 57) were the other batters, who scored at a dismal strike rate.

Skipper Nida Dar (26) and all-rounder Aliya Riaz (21) also chipped in but their efforts too, were not enough to steer Pakistan to victory.

Sophie Ecclestone picked up three wickets while Kate Cross, Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean took two wickets apiece.

The third ODI is scheduled to be played on 29 May in Chelmsford.
