RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi visited the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday to review security arrangements during the ODI match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

During the visit, Naqvi reviewed the security arrangements and said that the Sri Lankan cricket team has been granted the status of state guests and their security will not be compromised at any cost.

“The Sri Lankan cricket team has been given state guest status. There will be no compromise on the security of the visiting team,” he said.

 

“Promoting sports and other activities along with peace and stability is our common goal,” he added.

The first game of the three-match ODI series is underway here with Pakistan posting a challenging total.

Put into bat first in the ODI series opener, the home side piled up 299-5 in their 50 overs despite being reduced to 95-4 at one stage of their innings.

Salman Ali Agha and Hussain Talat starred with the bat, both scoring the bulk of the runs and lifting their team out of trouble with a mammoth 138-run stand on the fifth wicket.

Salman remained unbeaten with 105 from just 87 deliveries, peppered with nine fours, whereas Hussain Talat’s maiden made 62 from 63, striking half a dozen fours and a six.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga picked up three wickets, whereas Asitha Fernando and Maheesh Theekshana managed to scalp one apiece.

Pakistan Shaheens to undergo training camp ahead of SL tour

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced to conduct a four-day training camp for Shaheens ahead of their Sri Lanka tour. 

Pakistan Shaheens have been called for the training camp from tomorrow (October 17) here at Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre, National Stadium. The training camp will run till October 20 after which the team will fly for Sri Lanka on October 21.

The tour comprises two four-day fixtures and three 50-over matches in Kandy and Colombo from 28 October to 14 November.

Meanwhile, PCB also confirmed the replacement of Haider Ali in the squad with Sindh’s middle-order batter Mohammad Taha.

During the camp in Karachi, the players will prepare for both red and white ball matches, the coaching staff is led by head coach Ijaz Ahmed with Rao Iftikhar as his assistant coach.
