KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s COO and Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s tournament director, Salman Naseer has assured that the league’s seventh edition will be completed successfully.
Following the COVID-19 fears, PSL’s head was asked about their preparations to fight with another wave of the widely spread virus across the country.
“The situation of the COVID-19 is not good in the country right now and we know that. That’s why we are doing as many preparations as possible for successfully hosting the complete PSL 7,” Naseer shared.
“We also have a backup for a backup plan. Because, we are confident to host complete PSL this time around,” he added.
Naseer didn’t share many details but indicated having a different bio-secure environment for the event. “We have placed strict guidelines for the event. We not only have reserved players but also broadcasters in case of any COVID-19 emergency. Matches will go as scheduled if minimum of 13 players will be available. In case of more COVID-19 cases, the event will be postponed for a maximum of seven days,” Naseer said.
According to reports, the same international company, that managed the bio-secure bubble during PSL 6 in Abu Dhabi, will be handling the bio-secure arrangements this time too.
KARACHI: Star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi praised the captaincy of the national team’s skipper Babar Azam and wished for him to continue in this role for at least 10-15 years.
In a pre-PSL 7 media conference, Lahore Qalandars’ newly appointed captain Afridi was asked whether he would like to do the captaincy of the Pakistan team in the future.
“I don’t have any plans for now as Babar is leading the side so well. Under his captaincy, the team gelled strongly and performed. I wish he continues as captain for at least 10-15 years,” he responded.
“In the future, if any opportunity comes to me, I would love to do it for my country. But, for now, I want Babar to continue for long,” he added.
It must be noted here that Shaheen and Babar will be leading their respective franchises Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings for the first time in PSL 7.

In the unveiling ceremony, Salman lifted the curtains from the PSL trophy.
At the ceremony, Salman, talked about the preparations for the PSL 7 said the board has made backup after backup plans.
“The situation of the COVID-19 is worsening day by day. We are doing as many preparations as possible for the PSL 7,” Salman said.
“Have made more backup plans after backup. There is also the backup for the PCB staff, players, and for the broadcasters as well,” he added.
Salman also shared that the players will travel to Lahore from Karachi in a chartered flight.
Furthermore, Salman also stated that the situation regarding the COVID-19 has changed a lot and also that as long as 13 players are fit in a team, the tournament will continue.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced 17 players as reserved for the upcoming seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7.
15 out of 17 will join a bio-secure environment whereas the rest of the four will be kept for COVID-19 emergency in the camp.
The 15 players who will be part of the Managed Event Environment are: Aamer Jamal (Northern), Abrar Ahmad (Sindh), Amad Butt (Balochistan), Ammad Alam (Sindh), Bismillah Khan (Balochistan), Hassan Khan (Southern Punjab), Khalid Usman (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Musadiq Ahmed (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Nasir Nawaz (Northern), Salman Ali Agha (Southern Punjab), Tayyab Tahir (Southern Punjab), Umar Amin (Northern), Umar Siddiq (Southern Punjab), Usman Shinwari (Northern) and Waqas Maqsood (Central Punjab)
Players outside the Managed Event Environment are: Imam-ul-Haq (Balochistan), Omair bin Yousuf (Sindh), Saud Shakeel (Sindh) and Zahid Mahmood (Sindh)
KARACHI: Pakistan Super League (PSL)’s technical committee has approved Karachi Kings’ replacement for its seventh edition.
Kings have brought in Tom Lammonby of English County Somerset in place of West Indies’ Romario Shepherd who will be busy on national duty during this time period.
PSL 7 is all set to start from January 27 here at National Stadium. The final of event is scheduled in Lahore on February 27.
KARACHI: Wicket-keeper batsman Azam Khan hopes that there will be no added pressure of being called ‘Parchi‘ as he will play for Islamabad United in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7.
Speaking to a local channel, Khan said playing for United will be a whole new opportunity for him. “People used to call me PARCHI because my father was the head coach of Quetta Gladiators,” he said.
“But now I am picked by a different franchise, under a different coaching staff, this is a new experience for me and I’ll surely be free from that added pressure,” the young cricketer added.
Meanwhile, Azam is determined to continue working on his fitness. “I will be focused on my fitness and try to improve every single day. I will play for United as a local wicket-keeper batter and this will provide me a chance to exhibit my talent,” Azam concluded.
KARACHI: With the seventh edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) is just around the corner, the bio-secure bubble for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) marquee event will begin tomorrow, here in a local hotel.
For the bio-secure bubble to commence, all the teams will be reporting in a local hotel where the bubble will be established.
On the arrival, the players will undergo COVID-19 testing. Whereas, the foreign cricketers and coaches, too, will be tested upon their arrival at the hotel.
The hotel staff associated with the teams will also be part of the bubble.
The official practice session for the participating teams will begin on January 24, while the opening match of the HBL PSL 7 will be played between the defending champions Multan Sultans and the former champions Karachi Kings at the National Stadium in Karachi.

ISLAMABAD: National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Karachi and decided to allow only 25 percent crowd during HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7 in National Stadium Karachi (NSK).
According to the details, NCOC sent a letter to PCB and the provincial government, directing the percentage of people who will be allowed to attend HBL PSL 7 matches in NSK. 25 percent means 8,000 spectators will be allowed in each match of HBL PSL 7’s Karachi leg.
PCB Chief Operating Officer and HBL PSL Tournament Director Salman Naseer: “Spectators are the essence of any sport event and in this background, we now hope to set the stage with 25 per cent crowds to attend the Karachi matches of the HBL PSL 2022.
“As a responsible organisation, we completely understand our obligations in relation to health and safety of the fans and will leave no stone unturned in strictly implementing the NCOC guidelines,
“However, we will also require complete and unconditional support from the spectators so that they and others can continue to enjoy the matches in a safe and secure environment. This is something they can do by simply following the guidelines.”
The decision regarding Lahore-leg of HBL PSL will be taken in first week of February.
KARACHI: The HBL Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) most followed franchise, Karachi Kings, will play an intrasquad practice match here on Wednesday to prepare for the forthcoming HBL PSL 7.
On the final day of the training camp, the Kings will be playing an intrasquad match to boost up the preparations for the PSL 7. According to details, Kings’ captain and the number one T20I batter – Babar Azam will also be in action today.
In the ongoing training camp, players were given different tasks to play according to the conditions.
After the conclusion of the unofficial training camp, the Kings will head into the biosecure bubble tomorrow where all players and officials in the squad will remain in quarantine for three days.
According to details, the influx of foreign players will also begin from tomorrow.
The official training camp will be held at the National Stadium from January 24. Whereas, the Kings will face off the defending champions Multan Sultans in the opening match on January 27.

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the match officials for the matches of the upcoming seventh edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL), chief of the panel of ICC match referees Ranjan Madugalle, also included.
Taking to Twitter, the HBL PSL also shared the list of the match officials for the marquee league.
Madugalle will be making his HBL PSL debut when he will referee in the seventh edition of the PCB’s mega event. He will referee nine out of a total of 30 round matches, his former teammate Roshan Mahanama will also be refereeing as many PSL matches.
On the other hand, Aleem Dar, Richard Illingworth, and Michael Gough will be officiating the matches alongside local umpires from the PCB’s elite panel.
Match Referees: Ranjan Madugalle, Roshan Mahanama, Ali Naqvi, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Javed Malik.
Umpires: Aleem Dar, Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Khan Afridi, Imtiaz Iqbal, Imran Jawed, Michael Gough, Nasir Hussain, Rashid Riaz, Richard Illingworth, Shozab Raza and Waleed Yaqub.
