Hasan Ali shuts internet troll after supporting Shahnawaz Dahani

KARACHI: Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali shut down an internet troll after he lent his support to his young compatriot Shahnawaz Dahani after his dismal show with the ball in the sixth one-day against Zimbabwe Select on Saturday.

Young pacer Shahnawaz Dahani received a ruthless thrashing amid Pakistan Shaheens’ sixth one-day against Zimbabwe Select where he went for 105 runs in his quota of 10 overs.

Following his disappointing performance with the ball in the crucial one-day against Zimbabwe Select, Shahnawaz Dahani received immense backlash from Pakistan fans while some also questioned his focus on the sport.

In response to the backlash, Shahnawaz Dahani shared a tweet, curated by a local sports news outlet and reflected upon his own performance by sharing his bowling statistics alongside a message.

“To all those who love Dahani, here is his focus & performance before & after injury. Except for today’s performance, Dahani has 30 wickets in last 12 matches, & economy under 6, & ‘Remember Dahani will always enjoy his game & celebrate’,” wrote Dahani on Twitter.

Responding to Shahnawaz Dahani’s tweet, Hasan Ali lent his support to his fellow cricketer Shahnawaz Dahani and urged him to keep his head high and keep performing.

“No need to worry bro.. we all know you are very talented and a hardworking cricketer. [Everyone concedes runs in cricket] and it was just that day for you which is absolutely fine,” wrote Hasan.

“Keep your head high and keep performing,” he added.

Hasan’s supportive remarks for Shahnawaz Dahani, however, did not go well with a Twitter user, who straight up called both pacers ‘C-grade cricketers’.

Unlike many trolls, this did not go unnoticed by Hasan, and he responded in a kind yet befitting way.

It is worth mentioning here that Hasan Ali played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2017 glory.

He was named the player of the tournament after finishing the event with 13 wickets at an average of 14.69 and an economy rate of 4.29.

Hasan lends support to Sarfaraz as Gladiators’ flop show continues

LAHORE: Right-arm pacer Hasan Ali came out in support of Quetta Gladiators’ captain Sarfaraz Ahmed briefly after the latter’s side succumbed to a sixth defeat in the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The Gladiators, at the bottom of the points table, had a vital opportunity to seal a much-needed two points to make a case for their playoff qualification when they had Qalandars seven down for just 50 runs in 10 overs.

However, Sikandar Raza’s astounding knock of 71 runs recovered Lahore Qalandars from 50/7 to 148, which their bowlers comfortably defended and powered their side to a convincing 17-run victory.

Gladiators started off well in the run chase with their openers Will Smeed and Yasir Khan raising 50 runs within the powerplay before the former champions ran into a match-defining collapse.

Sarfaraz came out to bat with his side struggling at 64/4 in the 11th over but his inability to play big shots devoided him from pulling it for his side and the Gladiators fell 17 runs short despite their captain remaining unbeaten.

He could score 27 off 28 deliveries and hit only one boundary amid his struggling knock.

Following Gladiators’ flop show, right-arm pacer Hasan, who is representing Islamabad United, came out in support of his former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz and encouraged him to ‘stay strong’.

“Stay strong mera kaptan [Sarfaraz Ahmed],” tweeted Hasan.

It is pertinent to mention that the Gladiators are at the bottom in the PSL 8 standings with just two points in seven matches and need a miraculous turnaround to qualify for the playoff.

Hasan Ali likely to replace injured Haris for England Tests: sources

MULTAN: Fast bowler Hasan Ali is likely to make a surprise return to the national Test squad for the remainder of the home Test series against England as a replacement for injured Haris Rauf, who was ruled out after sustaining an injury in the first Test.ย

According to the sources, deliberations are underway to call upon the pacer Hasan for the Multan and Karachi Test after he was initially dropped from the 18-member squad announced for the series.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that right-arm speedster Haris had been unable to recover from the injury he sustained on the opening day of the Rawalpindi Test and would fly to Lahore to start his rehabilitation at the National High Performace centre.

Although his form has witnessed a dip in recent years that forced his exclusion from both red-ball and white-ball squads, Hasan has valuable experience playing for Pakistan in 21 Tests in which he took 77 wickets at a brilliant average of 24.57. He was also named Pakistan’s Test Cricketer of the year for 2021.

It is worth mentioning here that the home side is currently trailing the historic three-match series 0-1 after England sealed a sensational win in the opening Test.
