Pakistan’s pacer Hasan Ali reaches England to play County Cricket

LANCASHIRE: Pakistan’s right-arm pacer Hasan Ali has reached England to play County Cricket for the first time.

Hasan, who will play for Lancashire County Cricket Club in the ongoing 2022 season, has arrived in England for the event.

Taking to Twitter, Wisden shared the picture of Hasan donning the Lancashire jersey.

“Hasan Ali in Lancashire kit. The Pakistan quick is in England to play county cricket for the first time in his career,” Wisden wrote.

 

According to the county club, Hasan will be available for at least the first two months of the season. The right-arm pacer is expected to make his English County debut against Kent at Canterbury on 14 April.

He will be available until after Lancashire’s match against Essex which starts on 19 May at Emirates Old Trafford.

It is worth mentioning here that Hasan has picked 72 wickets at an average of 21 in Test matches and an overall First-Class tally of 244 wickets at 23.

Haris, Hasan, Faheem rejoin the squad for Karachi Test 

RAWALPINDI: The fast bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and the right-arm pacers Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf have rejoined the squad after completing their mandatory isolation periods, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared on Saturday.

Haris, who was out of the action of the historic Rawalpindi Test due to his contraction of the widely spread virus, has rejoined the squad after completing his mandatory isolation period and testing negative for the virus.

Hasan and Faheem, on the other hand, who were ruled out of the first Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy sustaining injuries have rejoined the squad after the completion of their mandatory isolation and recovering from their respective injuries.

Hasan suffered a groin injury while Faheem picked up an injury during his side’s fixture against Peshawar Zalmi in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7.

It is pertinent to mention here that the first Test of the Benaud-Qadir Trophy between Pakistan and Australia is underway with the hosts are in a comfortable position.

Hasan Ali joins Lancashire Cricket for 2022 County Championship

LANCASHIRE: Pakistan’s pacer – Hasan Ali has been signed by Lancashire Cricket for the upcoming 2022 County Championship.

Taking to Twitter, Lancashire announced the signing with the enterprising fast bowler.

According to the county club, Hasan will be available for at least the first two months of the season. The right-arm pacer is expected to make his English County debut against Kent at Canterbury on 14 April. He will be available until after Lancashire’s match against Essex which starts on 19 May at Emirates Old Trafford.

In a statement released by Lancashire, Hasan said he is excited to play county cricket for the first time in his career.

“I am very excited at the prospect of playing county cricket in England for the first time in my career,” he said.

“Emirates Old Trafford is a stadium which holds special memories for me, after making my T20 International debut against England there in 2016,” he added.

The 27-years-old pacer also shared his excitement for following the footsteps of the Pakistan great fast-bowler Wasim Akram.

“I am very proud to follow in the footsteps of Wasim Akram, a Pakistan legend, who always talks so highly of his time with Lancashire. I can’t wait to join up with the squad in April and I hope to make a significant contribution in the games that I play,” he concluded.

‘I cried and so did Shaheen’ Hasan Ali on Matthew Wade’s drop catch

KARACHI: Pakistan’s right-arm pacer – Hasan Ali revealed in an interview that he and Shaheen Shah Afridi cried after he dropped the catch of Australia’s Matthew Wade in the 2021 T20 World Cup Semifinal.

In an interview, the pacer opened up for the first time about the incident, revealing that he cried after that incident and was also joined by Shaheen following the dropped catch.

“After the match, I was crying and so was Shaheen; it was an extremely sad moment,” said Hasan.

Hasan also revealed that he ‘wasn’t able to sleep for days’, also termed it as the tough phase of his career.

“It was the tough moment of my career and it was quite difficult for me to forget. I haven’t revealed this to anyone until now but I didn’t sleep for two days, my wife was with me and she was tense as I was not sleeping,” he said.

Hasan further disclosed that the pacer received immense support and motivation from Shoaib Malik and also from social media.

“Shoaib bhai came to me and told me that you are a tiger and that I shouldn’t fall. In addition to that, I also received a lot of support on social media which helped me ease through the pain,” he said.

He went on to say that he was gutted following that costly dropped catch but he decided to move on while travelling to Bangladesh briefly after Pakistan’s exit from the mega event.

“I was quiet and sitting at the side as the dropped catch was appearing in my mind continuously but while travelling to Bangladesh I told myself that I should move on,” he said.

Hasan also added that the 27-years-old pacer does not take the matches lightly and always tries to perform for Pakistan.

It is worth mentioning here that, following that dropped catch from Hasan, Wade smashed three consecutive sixes to Shaheen and powered his side to the victory which also booked a final berth for the Kangaroos.

Three Pakistanis join ICC Test Team of 2021

DUBAI: Pakistani cricketers Fawad Alam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Hasan Ali have been named in International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Test Team of 2021. 

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is the captain of 11-men Test team of 2021 named by the ICC.

Hasan Ali storms into the top 10 of ICC Test Bowling Rankings

DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the updates Test bowling and batting rankings, Pakistan’s pacer – Hasan Ali moved into the top 10 Test bowlers.

According to the latest rankings, Hasan Ali claimed the 10th position by moving up two places, while Shaheen Afridi slipped to the fourth position as New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson claimed the third; following a massive surge in the right-arm pacer’s ranking.

Taking to Twitter, ICC shared the updated Test Player Rankings.

In the batting rankings, however, Pakistan’s star batter – Babar Azam remained at his eighth position. Babar is also the only batter to be in the top 10 rankings in all formats.

“Have to bowl in the right areas to get wickets”, Hasan Ali

CHITTAGONG: Pakistan’s fast bowler Hasan Ali discussed about the pitch for the first test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Pakistan’s right-handed fast bowler, Hasan Ali told in an interview that the pitch is a bit slow which would apparently favor the batters.

“Pitch is a bit slow as we all are aware that the pitches here are usually slow, we have to bowl in the right areas.”, he said.

“We have to force batters to make mistakes and lose their wickets by pitching the ball on the right areas.”, he added.

Pakistanis take supportive stance for Hasan Ali

KARACHI: Pakistanis came out in numbers to support national fast bowler Hasan Ali who was blamed for dropping an important catch in the T20 World Cup semi-final against Australia. 

Hasan dropped a catch of Matthew Wade off Shaheen Shah Afridi in the 19th over which cost Pakistan qualification into the final of the mega event.

Cricket fans in the country showed full support to the national cricketer in his tough phase.

Pakistan remained unbeaten in the group stage of the extravaganza. The Green Shirts also beat their arch-rivals India for the first time in any World Cup that too by 10 wickets.

‘Proud of Pakistan’s performance in T20 WC’ Mickey Arthur

DUBAI: Pakistan’s former head coach Mickey Arthur said he is proud of the national team’s performance under captain Babar Azam in the ongoing T20 World Cup. 

Speaking exclusively to ARY News after his team Sri Lanka played their last match before exiting from the mega event, Arthur said Pakistani players showed their talent to the world.

“I feel really proud of Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup. The talent I spotted in players before has now come in front of the world. The players have shown their real strength in this event so far,” Arthur told ARY News.

Arthur named Imad Wasim, Babar, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, and Shaheen Shah Afridi whom he feels proud of. “When I coached them, Hasan, Shadab, Babar, Imad, and Shaheen were young. Now, they have become mature enough and I am happy to see that,” he said.

“Babar is now a world-class batsman and the world has already recognized him. Shaheen is the best bowler with a new ball and there is no doubt in it,” he concluded.

‘India or New Zealand, our aim is just to win’ Hasan Ali

Lahore: Pacer Hasan Ali thinks every match in the upcoming is important to win and they are not just focusing on games against India and New Zealand.

The 27-year-old Hasan Ali, in a virtual presser, told reporters that players will look to prepare well before first match against arch-rivals India on October 24.

“The hype for Pakistan vs India matches has always been high but this time Pakistan’s match against New Zealand has also gained popularity after their pullout from the Pakistan tour,” Hasan said.

“This is a global tournament and every game is important here. We have good two weeks before our first game and we will utilise it as much as possible,” he added.

On the other hand, Hasan is confident of performing well as he is the most senior pacer in the team. “I want to lead my side’s pace attack and put up exemplary performances.”

Hasan emphasized variations will be crucial viewing condititons.”We have played a lot of cricket in the UAE and understand the conditions there. The pitches there are on the slower side and I hardly see a team scoring 200 there. The key will be to bowl according to situation and bring in variations.”

Meanwhile, Green Shirts took part in the first practice session at the National High-Performance Center (NHPC). Players will practice till October 14 and will fly to UAE on the following day.

Pakistan are scheduled to play two warm-up games against West Indies and South Africa on October 18 and 20.
