DHAKA: Arch-rival India defeated Pakistan by 4-3, in the 3rd/4th position match of the ongoing Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, on Wednesday.
The joint defending champions, India and Pakistan clashed for the second time in the ongoing Champions trophy for the third position match, as both the sides crashed out of the tournament after a semi-final defeat.
India launched an attack right from the start, Harmanpreet Singh scored the first goal of the match for the men in blue in the first quarter.
Soon after, Pakistan’s Afraz Hakeem equalized the score. The scores remain tied at 1-1, till the half time.
In the second half, Pakistan’s Rana Abdul Waheed scored the second goal for the Green shirts; handing his side a lead. However, the lead only lasted a few minutes, as India’s Sumit Walmiki leveled the scores with a brilliant strike.
In the third quarter, India took the lead; with Varun Kumar scoring the third goal for his side. A few minutes later, the men in blue extended their lead; with Akashdeep Singh striking for his side this time.
Pakistan’s Ahmed Nadeem, however, retaliated; scoring a magnificent goal. The green shirts, in the end, failed to level the scores, and India won by a margin of one goal.

Pakistan and India collided for the first time in the championship’s round stage, India turned out on top; defeating the Green Shirts by 3-1 in the allotted time.
For India, Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals; including the first goal of the match. Whereas, Akashdeep Singh scored one for his side.
Green shirts, on the other hand, could only score one goal in response to India’s three; losing their first ever round match against their arch-rivals.
For Pakistan, only Junaid Manzoor, could only score a goal.
Pakistan and India, are the joint defending champions of the title, moreover, both Pakistan and India, have also won the title most number of times; with being crowned the champions, three time each.

Muhammad Abdullah, Aqeel Ahmed, Afraz, Ahmed Nadeem and Salman Razzaq are among the players, who have been included in the Pakistan Hockey Team for the first time from the junior team.
Both, Pakistan and India, have also won the title most number of times; with being crowned the champions, three time each.
The match will commence at 02:30 PM (PKT), tomorrow.
The Indian hockey team is ranked third in the world rankings, while Pakistan are at 18th position.

DUBAI: Shaheen Shah Afridi’s spell against India in T20 World Cup 2021 has been voted ‘ICC’s Play of the Tournament’.
Taking to Twitter, ICC announced the best play of the recently concluded T20 World Cup. “Play of the Tournament from the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is: Shaheen Afridi’s blistering opening spell against India,” they wrote.
Afridi rattled India’s top-order by quickly picking up Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets. It was their first victory against arch-rivals in the World Cup.
DUBAI: Pakistani captain Babar Azam’s father Azam Siddique confirmed that his wife and Babar’s mother has been shifted to home and is fine.
Taking to Instagram after Babar’s manager shared the news, Azam wrote that his family went through a difficult phase but everything ended on a good note.
Earlier, Azam confirmed that his wife was on a ventilator when Pakistan played against India in the T20 World Cup contest. Babar alongside Mohammad Rizwan played an anchor role for Pakistan to beat India for the very first in the mega event.
DUBAI: Pakistan team’s head coach for T20 World Cup 2021, Saqlain Mushtaq believes that viral pictures of Pakistan-India cricketers sent out a strong message of peace and love.
Speaking to media virtually on Thursday, Saqlain said Pakistan and India are the two most powerful cricket nations in the world and people always enjoy their matches against each other.
“Pakistan vs India matches have always been exciting for the cricket fans. Our victory against them was convincing and we enjoyed it,” he said.
“But, the best part of the match was those pictures of Pakistan-India players that went viral. Hats off to Dhoni, Virat, Babar, Malik, Dahani, Rizwan, Imad, their pictures after the Pak-India game sent a strong message of love and peace,” the head coach shared.
While talking about the game, Saqlain said they can’t take any team lightly, moving closer to semi-final of the multi-nation tournament.
“We have got confidence after two victories in the event. But, we can’t get relaxed because no team is light in the tournament,” he said.
“Our next match is against Afghanistan which is a really good side. Their openers are in form and they can give us a tough time. We need to plan things strongly against them and continue our winning streak,” he added.
SHARJAH: Stand-out performer in Pakistan vs India contest, Mohammad Rizwan tells his philosophy which took him from nowhere to one of the finest cricketers in Pakistan team right now.
In a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Rizwan told three things ‘Practice, Performance, Honesty’ made him what he is today.
“I always believed in three things, Performance, Practice, and Honesty. These three things describe me and help me excel on the ground,” he shared.

“I plan the toughest practice sessions for myself as said by one of my mentors, Inzamam-ul-Haq. The tough you practice, the more you perform. Performance is something that keeps you in the run. And, honesty is what our religion teaches us. Honesty in practice and everything you do, takes you at higher level,” he explained.
Rizwan said cricket is his passion and everything in his life. “Cricket mera Junoon hai. Cricket mere liye sab kuch hai [Cricket is my passion, Cricket is everything for me],” he said.
It must be noted here that Rizwan played an anchor role for Pakistan in their 10-wickets victory against India, which was their first-ever victory in T20 World Cup against the arch-rivals.

A video went viral on social media in which some Indian spectators from October 24 match teased Malik fielding at the boundary by calling ‘Jeeja Ji, Jeeja Ji’. Malik turned to the fans for a while but hadn’t responded.
However, this video managed to gain the attention of his wife Sania who is also an Indian tennis star.

RIYADH: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that Pakistan wants to resume cricket relations with India.
Speaking at an event, PM Khan, who is in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a three-day official visit, termed Pakistan’s win against India in their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2021 ‘historic’.
“India and Pakistan can take forward cricket relations,” he opined, adding that Islamabad desires friendly ties with Delhi.

DUBAI: Pakistan’s bowling consultant Vernon Philander backed his bowling unit and said they will improve themselves in the upcoming match against New Zealand.
Speaking to the media after a historic win over India, Philander appreciated his bowlers for showing grit against the arch-rivals.
“Our bowlers bowled with freedom and showed their strength to the world. We are happy for their performance,” he said.

“We have celebrated our victory, now it’s time to move on and focus on our next game against New Zealand. We will plan things from new and try to continue the winning momentum,” he added.
To a query about Hasan Ali’s performance, Philander accepted the fact that he conceded runs but called him a ‘champion bowler’.
“We know Hasan conceded runs and we will work on that. But, he is our champion bowler and we support him,” he maintained.
Hasan conceded most 44 runs for Pakistan in his four overs against India. He also bagged a wicket.
