KARACHI: Shaheen Shah Afridi stolen the limelight with his batting, smashing 22 off last over against Peshawar Zalmi to tie the last group match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7.

Last year, Shaheen took jersey number ’10’ known for Shahid. The former all-rounder gave special permission to him. Also last year, Shaheen’s family sent his marriage proposal for Shahid’s daughter, which was confirmed by the cricketer himself on Twitter.

“Shaheen’s family approached my family for my daughter. Both families are in touch, matches are made in heaven, if Allah wills this match will be made too. My prayers are with Shaheen for his continued success on and off the field,” Shahid wrote in his Tweet.

LAHORE: Mohammad Rizwan had fun on the field while trying a new way of recreational sport ‘Bowling’ and his fans are enjoying every bit of it. 

In a viral video on the internet, Rizwan tried Bowling between the wickets on a pitch. And, the wicket-keeper batsman successfully pinned the ball and celebrated.

The happy skipper of Multan Sultans has led his team to nine victories in 10 matches of the group stage in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7. His team becomes the first-ever to win nine round matches in a single season.

Sultans are currently at top of the points table with 18 points. They will most probably face second-spot Lahore Qalandars in PSL 7 Qualifier on February 23.

‘Yaar Tum Ay Kiu Nahi Matches Mai’ Afridi’s cute conversation with Abdullah

LAHORE: Star all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi had a cute conversation with Quetta Gladiators’ skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed’s cricket-fanatic son Abdullah. 

In a video call conversation, Afridi asked Abdullah why he is not there to support his father’s team in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 7.

“Yaar Tum Ay Kiu Nahi Matches Mai [Why you didn’t come for matches?]” Afridi asked Abdullah who shied away.

The cute interaction was shared by Gladiators on their official social media platforms.

Abdullah is also known for his cricket skills. He is following in his father’s footsteps to become a cricketer in the future.

WATCH: ‘We have built champion element in our team’ Sultans’ skipper Rizwan

KARACHI: Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan is satisfied with his team’s performance who is unbeaten so far in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7. 

In a video shared by the franchise on their social media accounts, Rizwan was motivating his teammates for upcoming games in the PSL 7.

“We have like true warriors in our three games and won them. We have built a champion element in our team,” Rizwan told players.

“Don’t think where you come from, you are here means your focus should be only Multan Sultans,” he added.

It must be noted here that Rizwan-led Sultans beat Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators to gain top position on the points table with all three wins. Also, Sultans ended PSL 7 chasing streak after defending 175 runs against Gladiators in seventh match of the league.

Karachi Kings’ official anthem for PSL 7 ‘Yeh Hai Karachi’ released

KARACHI: The most followed franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) – Karachi Kings have dropped their official anthem for the ongoing seventh edition, named ‘Yeh Hai Karachi’.

Featuring Asim Azhar and Talhah Yunus, Yeh Hai Karachi displays the passion of the Kings for the PSL 7. It boosts the excitement of the fans who were waiting for so long.

Taking to YouTube, Kings released their official anthem for the PSL 7.

 

Apart from Asim and Talhah, cricket stars including Babar Azam, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Sharjeel Khan, Umaid Asif and the president – Wasim Akram also featured in the music video.

Twitter lauds PSL 7 official anthem ‘Agay Dekh’

KARACHI: The official anthem for the upcoming seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), titled ‘Agay Dekh’ has become the top-trend hours after its release, leaving the fans in awe.

The anthem featuring the renowned Pakistani singer – Atif Aslam and Aima Baig became the top-trend after being released by the PSL.

Soon after the track was released, Twitter lit up, and fans took the social media platform to express their admiration for the newly released song. Here’s what people are saying about Atif and Aima’s latest composition:

PSL 7 drops official anthem’s teaser, it is set to release tomorrow

LAHORE: With the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is just around the corner, the PSL dropped the first look of the official anthem on Sunday for the forthcoming edition, featuring Atif Aslam and Aima Baig.

Taking to TikTok, the PSL shared the teaser of the anthem ‘Agay Dekh’.

The teaser of the anthem left the fans in excitement, while PSL also hinted that the full song will be released soon.

It is apropos to mention here that the PSL 7 will kick off on January 27 with the defending champions Multan Sultans locking horns with the 2020 champions – Karachi Kings in the curtain-raiser at National Stadium Karachi.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) posted a compilation video of the best catches on its social media platforms ahead of the upcoming seventh edition, featuring the likes of Mohammad Rizwan, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shahid Afridi.

In the video, PSL compiled the best catches taken by different players in the previous seasons of the marquee event.

Joe Denly took a blinder against Lahore Qalandars (PSL 3)

In the eighth match of the PSL 3 between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars, the then Kings’ player Joe Denly took a stunner at the point diving full to his right to grab a one-handed catch of Mohammad Irfan Junior’s delivery; dismissing Dinesh Ramdin.

Sarfaraz Ahmed judged it to perfection against Peshawar Zalmi (PSL 5)

On Tymal Mills’ deceiving delivery, Tom Banton launched the ball into the sky. The wicket-keeper and the skipper of Quetta Gladiators – Sarfaraz Ahmed ran backwards and took a sharp catch as the 34-years-old overran but managed to grab the ball in his gloves in the end.

Shahid Afridi took a stunner against Quetta Gladiators (PSL 3)

During the Kings’ faceoff against the Gladiators, Shahid Afridi stole the show with a stunning catch on the long-off boundary. Gladiators’ batter Umar Amin flicked the ball on Irfan Junior’s delivery but, could not time it well to sail over the fence. Standing at the long-off boundary, Afridi plucked the ball out of the boundary threw it in the air to run back into the field and grabbed it safely inside the boundary.

Mohammad Rizwan dived running backwards to pull off a stunner vs Peshawar Zalmi (PSL 6)

Extra bounce on Blessing Muzarabani’s delivery forced Zalmi’s firepower David Miller to top-edge the ball; launching it in the sky. Rizwan ran quickly backwards and judged the swirling ball to perfection, dived perfectly to take the catch of the season.

Wahab Riaz’s magnificent catch against Lahore Qalandars (PSL 6)

In a clash against the Qalandars, Wahab Riaz managed to pull off a sharp catch diving to his left as Faizan Lakhani crunched the ball for the extra cover, Riaz, standing at the mid-off position showed athletism to hold on for an astonishing catch despite a slow start.

It is apropos to mention here that the seventh edition of the PSL will kick off on January 27 as the defending champions Sultans will lock horns with the former champions Kings in the league’s opener.

Babar, Shaheen gearing up to face each other in HBL PSL 7

KARACHI: Karachi Kings’ skipper and his Lahore Qalandars’ counterpart – Shaheen Afridi are eager to extend their competition into the upcoming seventh edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Babar and Shaheen will come face to face twice in this season. The first encounter will take place on January 30 in Karachi, when the Kings take on the Qalandars, while the second match will take place on February 18 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Babar heaped praises on Shaheen’s bowling ability and said it is going to be an exciting battle.

“Facing Shaheen is always a thrilling proposition as he asks a lot of questions. His searing pace, ability to bring the ball back, and guileful variations keep a batter judging. He has a passion to learn and, over the years, has developed this phenomenal ability to adapt to conditions quickly,” Babar said.

“It will be tough, but an exciting battle and I look forward to facing Shaheen once again. I am sure, the fans are also eagerly awaiting it,” Babar concluded.

Shaheen, on the other hand, termed Babar as a tough batter to deal with, however, said he is excited for the battle in front of Karachi and Lahore’s crowd.

“Babar is a tough batter and his solid technique tests you whenever and wherever you bowl at him. Wearing a soft smile on his face, he will dispatch you to the boundary in every part of the ground and nullify all your plans,” Shaheen said.

“The battle with Babar will be an interesting one in front of both Karachi and Lahore crowds. I will be enjoying it for sure and I hope the fans will also have fun watching it,” Shaheen concluded.

Babar and Shaheen have come face to face on numerous occasions. Babar has scored 69 runs off Shaheen’s 43 deliveries, including 12 boundaries. Whereas, Shaheen managed to dismiss the top-ranked T20I batter once.
